† Walk In The Light †
[Subject to Change]
Public Knowledge: The Government knows more than they'd ever care to admit and some individuals have learned this the hard way. Demons exist, as do Angels, but demons are said to influence society in subtle, teasing ways almost, in a battle for your soul, but...is that true? No. They want you to suffer, they feed off of it, they enjoy it...and some humans learn to as well. Some of these humans become Witches, some more demon than human, but powerful in their own right.
Humanity knows of this...sort of. They haven't completely turned a blind eye to the war that's been waging since before their very inception, but they've often been caught in it. There are dedicated followers of "the fight" and heavy supporters, but many are dismissed as insane. Just as well, they know the truth as most of these people have witnessed it first or second hand.
Guardian Angels: So-called 'Guardan Angels' protect humanity with a heavy hand, striking hard and fast. Rarely seen, rarely heard...but appreciated none-the-less. They fight demons on all fronts, but are most well-known for taking care of the demon's most trusted servants and field generals: Witches.
White Witches: Not all witches are bad, but most are treated with some disdain and all are treated with caution. Not all magic is black magic, but most witches do fall to the dark side - so to speak.
The Cursed: Cursed beings inhabit the land as well, namely werewolves and vampires. Strong, fast and deadly. These are at the apex of all apex predators and few things can really stand up to them. Of course, most werewolves live in tribes far out in the country, in desolate places and safe from the prying eyes of humanity where they can hunt in peace. Only rarely does a lycanthrope rebel against the rules of their society and attack humans. The creatures were long-sinced pardoned of their curse and made free as the humans by the Lord of Heaven.
Vampires are not so lucky, but most can live as normal as they please as long as they avoid attacking humans. The attacks on humans are decidedly more rare these days, but they do happen. The overwhelming feeling of superiority and power is hard to shake even for the strongest of wills...but for the most part they often live successful and comfortable lives under little scrutiny from the government or anyone else. It is said that a very powerful group of vampires makes up a large percentage of Archangel Inc.'s wealth.
Archangels Inc.: A company of Witch Hunters dating back to the Salem Witch Trials (1690's). With powers bestowed upon them by the Light they hunt evil bravely and without reservation. Their organization is one of many, but is certainly one of the largest and most well-funded around.
Neophyte - New to AI, still learning the ropes and in mixed classes of Light-Touched and baseline humans. Groups of 5.
Soldier - Field operatives, still classes of Light-Touched and baseline humans. They've completed their training and have many completed assignments. Groups of 5.
Knight - Advanced Field Operatives and the highest ranking a baseline human can achieve within AI. Experienced soldiers, some of the best in the world. Groups of 5.
Templar - Seasoned Agents consisting solely of Light-Touched (or cursed). Many have killed a witch with their bare hands or primitive weaponry. Pairs of 2.
Paladin - Advanced Heavy-weight soldiers with a very strong grasp of their light abilities. Extremely powerful, typically sent after only the strongest of witches. Pairs of 2.
Hand of God - The best of the best. Have survived war, chaos and the death of baseline friends and loved ones. True mastery of the Light. Single Agents.
The Choir - The Leaders. Most are centuries old and have been around even before AI came to fruition. Some are reported to be true Angels, but these are mostly just rumor. They are powerful beyond imagining, but their power is not used lightly. They hold executive positions within AI, but have all done their time on the field. Seven seasoned Hands of God.
Abigail: She was cast away centuries ago and is a powerful, domineering witch of multiple masteries that seeks to regain footing in the realm of humans. Years of planning, hatred and hunger have kept her sharp and hunting for any and all opportunities to be set free. Originally imprisoned by Archangels Inc. and contributed to their genesis.
(I may make a more full character sheet for her, but I'm just trying to get this up at this point)
Name: Evangeline Fox
Skill Set:Evangeline prefers to rely on more secular means of self-defense when possible; as a result, she is skilled in hand-to-hand combat. Beyond that, she has an innate aptitude for resurgence: if someone has freshly crossed the divide into death, she has the ability to pull them back for a time. It does not heal them, and their continuing survival is completely dependent on the medical attention they receive immediately after being resurrected. A gift never comes without a price, though, and it is Evangeline’s life-force that the revived leach off of as they wait to be healed or to meet death once again.
Physical Description:Evangeline has a pleasant face, neither sharp nor soft in nature. She was born with a thick head of black hair that has since grown and been kept at her shoulder blades. Her eyes are the color of slate and rounded almost too big for her face. The gaze she gives is direct, and her oval lips never bother to smile without cause. A straight nose, soft cheekbones, and a pale complexion were given to her by her mother, while stern arching eyebrows are from her father. She stands above average at 5’8, with a body full of dips and curves, but kept meticulously fit.
Personality: Kindness and smugness battle quite often inside of Evangeline. She has no ill-will towards her peers, but often relishes in her superiority over them. Pride may be a deadly sin, but it seems to be inborn in this young hunter. She is fiercely competitive in even the most benign aspects of life. The rules shouldn’t apply to her, in her mind, and she often pushes boundaries to the absolute limit. Just past her abrasive aspects rests an intelligent mind and a warm-heart. She ardently believes in what she does, and would sooner inflict torment on herself than see it on anyone else.
Back Story: Born with the proverbial silver spoon, Evangeline often overhears utterances of her greatness and has thrived on it. She is a rare first-liner: her family can be traced back to the very first Witch Hunters, with no marring of blood in-between. An only child, she was doted on by both her father and mother. As soon as she was of age, she was sent to the academy and has been climbing the ranks ever since. Her family expects only the best members, and so she must be.
Main Equipment: Easily bored, Evangeline relies on a myriad of different weapons and sigils to defend herself with. The only thing she is never caught without is the old blunderbuss pistol that has been in her family for generations. It is crafted from holy artifacts and marked with intricate religious symbols and proverbs. The bullets are specially crafted, laced with holy water, and thick enough to carve a decent sized hole in any flesh with the misfortune of getting in its way.
Name: Alex Binert (born Johnathan Middleton)
Skill Set: Enhanced speed, metabolism, strength, and senses even in human form - ages slower than a baseline human. Alex is strong enough to control the transformation between human form and werewolf form and can do so at will (except on the full moon). Can put an “all you can eat” buffet to the test. Trained soldier, survivalist and life-long Yankees fan.
Physical Description: Rather unassuming at a glance, but that’s just his figure. He could be truly handsome if he tried, but he was always more comfortable blending in. Still, he has very little, if any, fat on him (Thank God for lycanthropy). His hair is typically a mess of strawberry-blond with peridot eyes. He boasts strong, classic jawline and high cheekbones. Standing at 6‘ even and appears to be in his upper 20‘s to mid 30‘s (depending on who’s describing him and just how covered in dirt he is).
When he transforms his fur is red-brown like sanguine mud with golden, bloodshot eyes.
Personality: He’s reserved, but exudes a confidence that was very much a learned trait. A trait that says “never let them smell your weakness”. He is an apex predator and, as such, has trouble minding his tongue sometimes. After conquering the initial inner turmoil all werewolves go through of lust (both blood and the other kind) and superiority, he finds himself perched nice and comfortable with his position in life. He will die before he lets any of his pack (all of Archangel Inc.) come to harm. Decidedly gentlemanly.
Back Story: In 1923 he was born John Middleton into poverty in Queens, New York. He was a good kid, but struggled with getting in fights and generally just causing mayhem. As WWII broke out he came of age in 1941 and drafted into service, surviving through hell and moving up ranks before being bitten by a werewolf just before the war’s end. He dealt with the curse on his own for the longest, but eventually found a mentor and a pack.
Unfortunately he had to leave his birth family for his new one...as it had become quite apparent he was aging much slower than they were - he didn’t want to put them in danger either. Eventually he faked his own death, changed his name to Alex Binert and disappeared for awhile. Eventually he would resurface in the 1960‘s for the drafting in Vietnam. He saw more friends die in a foreign country and eventually was drawn into the SOG.
Some fifteen years later he was put into contact with Archangel Inc. via anonymous letter which had handwriting on it that looked suspiciously similar to a CIA spook he’d saved from the NVA. He was put into an expedited class due to his service, but was essentially treated as a newbie despite that. He doesn't mind.
Main Equipment: Alex has a love of firearms and will launch into a lengthy discussion with the slightest of provocations. He loves no gun more than the Colt 1911 and has quite a few originals modified for work...and play. Besides that, he has a number of modified M16‘s for specific monsters (even one with Silver hollow tips) and several Mosin Nagant and Springfield bolt-action rifles, respectively, ready to snipe a monster from afar. Besides weaponry he wears an anti-ballistic and anti-knife woven suit that melds with his unique physiology (i.e.: when he transforms, it remains form-fitting so he's not, you know, naked). There is a built-in tactical sling as well as a shoulder holster, but typically he wears more gear over top of it. If at all possible, he avoids wolfing out. Still, his hands are every bit as deadly as any firearm he carries.
