Status: Not Started and Limited Accepting Writing Level: Free and Up Genre: Murder-Mystery, Slice of Life, Supernatural (?)
GM: DarkGrey Co-GM: Yukisaa Player Slots Available: 3/4 slots are available
Roleplay PlotLoosely Based Off of the Anime/Visual Novel Dangan Ronpa with a hint of Umineko/Higurashi
Kisaragi Town. A quiet and utterly unremarkable locale within the Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan home to a rather unremarkable population. However, this quaint little town isn't all that it seems. In this town there is a rumor spoken about under hushed tones, whispers passed between citizens. No one knows the details... No, nobody was supposed to know them.
Just that, even if the special instructions were learned, and the supplies were prepared, one must never follow them, for that would start the 'game.'
"The Fox Game"
The rumor could be called a 'local ghost story'. It isn't found on any site or through any search engine, a true rumor told only in Kisaragi. According to the rumor, once the Fox Game has been started, letters containing contents of one of the many urban legends in the world are distributed to the players. When one receives a letter, the legend detailed within is said to become reality.
Kisaragi High School. A mundane, utterly unremarkable place, much like the town it's located in. Within this school is an after school club full of people who, while not necessarily being compatible in any other social situation, have one big thing in common:
They all love rumors.
To be more exact, most of the rumors the club discussed tended to be categorized as things that were 'urban legends', 'creepypasta', or otherwise 'occult-like'. As people talked about rumors like those, the truly interested eventually came to gather in the old, abandoned school building right next to the one they used to attend classes. Thus, the 'Kisaragi Rumor Club' was born.
It's February, the middle of the school year. Whether you're a newcomer to the town, or a native of Kisaragi, you've found your way into the ranks of this club. Maybe it's because you enjoy a good story, or you're a true believer, or even if it's because you had too much free time and thought this would be an easy extracurricular to join.
However, recently an old journal was found in the school building. Evidently it seemed that there was an old 'Kisaragi Rumor Club', if that was even what it was named back then, full of people just like you. Recorded inside the dusty old notebook were rumors of all sorts, different from the ones circulating now, but something else was recorded. Something very precious:
The method to beginning the 'Fox Game'.
However, the records of the days after beginning the game were unfortunately unreadable. Nevertheless, enough proof was provided. It would seem that the Game did indeed exist. With this revelation, the club vowed to test out the method during their next meeting. However, they should be careful...
"Because of a traitor, the game has begun..."
Useful InformationRead this. It's important stuff to know.
So I'm sure most of you guys are familiar with these or have the common sense to figure out what they are, but as usual I guess I'm 'obligated' to do it.
Obey and respect the GM/Co-GM and their decisions, calls, and judgments.
Don't godmod, power game, yada yada yada without permission. Basically, if you treat your fellow players with respect, you're good.
Having romantic relationships is fine. Hell, I'd even encourage it since it brings some more tension to the game. However, I'm not too keen on reading your sex scene(s if you're like that). Bring it to PMs.
I want you to stay active, but I probably won't bother you to get to posting. But I will say that if you don't post in a reasonable amount of time, I'll let someone take control of your characters before I kill 'em off. That, I will inform you of. HOWEVER, if you know you're gonna be gone, send me a PM so I don't end up killing your folks off.
You don't kill people, I do by using your instructions.
I encourage misdirection, subterfuge, and deception. In Character, not in the OOC, that is.
No there's not a thing that I'm going to make you write in your CS. I trust that you've read these elsewhere/have common sense.
Basically, the killings work by filling out the mini-sheet I have down below and sending it to me through PM. Pretty simple I'd think. Though I feel I should address the possibility of two people requesting kills during the same session. In that scenario, I'll be choosing the one that came fist unless it involves something like killing a character of a player who had a character die the previous round. Fair word of warning though: if I don't get someone requesting a kill, I'll be choosing randomly. Obviously I will be the one making all the big crime scene posts to avoid people making it obvious who the 'killer' is.
Based Off Of:
Little bit of a rundown:
Murderer specifies whether its the Fox who killed the person, or a character killing someone under the assumption that they're the Fox. So this would be filled out either with The Fox or [Your Character Name]
Punished specifies who is executed in place of the Fox. This is a character you control.
Victim is obviously who you're gonna be killing. Just to be fair, if a player only has one character left, you cannot target them unless otherwise stated.
Based Off Of is where you hand me a link/name to a creepypasta/urban legend that you want the crime scene to be based off of. Yes, it can be one of those supernatural ones that don't work 'in real life', though I'd like a mixture of possible and impossible. In addition, I'll change it if someone already used that legend/pasta as their basis. Optional if your character is the Murderer rather than the Fox.
Location is where the body's gonna be found. Optional if your legend is pretty constrained in terms of where it could happen.
Other is Optional. Throw any extra details I forgot here.
After the body's been found and all the evidence gathered, we move into a Class Trial. Basically this is where we Phoenix Wright the shit out of the killer by presenting evidence, making conclusions, and finally having a vote as to who gets executed as punishment. Don't worry about choosing the wrong guy though, since I'll (probably) deus ex machina some evidence that condemns them. Other than that, I'll barely be participating other than giving nudges in the right direction. This'll happen in the IC after a timeskip, and I will start the trial period. Also, if you 'solved' a crime last round, give someone else a chance.
To begin the game, one must perform Kokkuri-san under certain instructions.
To end the game, you must kill the traitor, henceforth referred to as the Fox.
If you cannot find the Fox, everybody dies.
While searching for the Fox, messages from Kokkuri-san will be distributed to the players.
The demands within these messages must be fulfilled within a week of obtaining them, or the receiver will die.
If an outsider reads the messages, they will die.
Once the announcement of a corpse has been distributed, a trial between the remaining players will be held after a 24 hour period.
At the end of a trial, a vote will be taken as to who will be executed under suspicion of being the Fox, whether they are or not.
Everyday at 2:30AM, there will be an announcement of the deaths and remaining players on the TV, looping until 3:30AM.
Until the game ends, there is no way out.
Kokkuri-san: Basically the Japanese equivalent to a Ouija Board, except not sold at stores. To play Kokkuri-san, you require two people to work and is performed on a fresh sheet of paper with the alphabet, 0-9, yes, no, entrance/exit, and a torii/shrine gate written on it. Other than that, it runs more or less the same as a Western Ouija Board. The name describes both the game and the spirit supposedly being summoned. The contents of all messages are related to urban legends/creepypasta in some way and will never involve a command to kill another player. [U]DO NOT STATE/IMPLY WHAT THE CONTENTS OF YOUR CHARACTER'S MESSAGE IS UNTIL NEW MESSAGES ARE DISTRIBUTED IS.[U] The ignoring of the messages are what directly result in the deaths of the characters (assuming they weren't killed by a fellow player), so if you reveal the contents, you're the victim this round. Based off this.
Since we're all going to double or triple up, I decided to make the sheet as minimalist as possible. Anyway, here's how you should be filling the thing out. Appearance: Anime or Description. Or both. Name: We're in a small Japanese town. So Japanese names, maybe with one or two foreign guys. For the sake of convenience, we're using Western naming order (First "Nicknames" Last) Age: 16-18. Gender: Pretty obvious. Height: Necessary for the off-chance that something eliminates appearance-based identification, or the height of a person is needed for a trial. Weight: See above. Backstory: How they came to the town, got involved with the club, that kind of stuff. Don't really need a lot here other than that. Extra Information: Anything else you wanna throw on.
YOU WILL BE MAKING MORE THAN ONE SHEET. PREFERABLY THREE.
