Are you bored, or would like a break from, the action/adventure/fantasy RPs you so often take part in? Then read on.
The concept for this RP is simple: Participants will play the role of children/adolescents at a boarding school between the ages of 15 and 16. Life in a co-education (both sexes) school is hectic at the best of times and needs no additional features or themes (no vampires, werewolves etc) to make it interesting or fun to RP, in fact in many cases it can over complicate the relations and over shadow the normal issues we humans experience during this turbulent period.
The RP will begin during the Autumn (Fall) term in September at the start of a new school year. The students will all be brand new although some may know each other from former schools but will mostly be unfamiliar with one another.
The Bath Boarding House can be found outside of the city of Bath, one of the more affluent cities of southern England and one of the main shopping centres of the country. Thanks to its rich donors and multiple grants from the government for its long history of successful education the school has purchased the fields around it to create a large estate able to cater to almost any activity students would wish to engage in; whether it be something technical such as astronomy or something physical such as tennis or horse riding.
All children stay at the school during the term time, sleeping in the luxurious boarding houses the school keep well maintained and patrolled by staff members. In the holiday period pupils may return home but are able to stay at the school and engage in various recreational activities, extra schooling or occupy themselves in other ways.
The school curriculum is simple:
All children must study the main subjects of: English Literature and Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education as well as one foreign language of their choice.
Those aged 13 and 14 must study History, Geography, Information Technology (Computing) skills, Design and Technology, Art and Cooking (Food Technology).
At the age of 15 the field can be narrowed to a choice between History or Geography, IT or DT and Art or Cooking. From the age of 18 this is further narrowed to a minimum of four subjects of the pupil's choice.
The school has other subjects pupils may choose to take such as Astronomy and other more specialised areas of study.
Lastly, children from all over the world enroll in the Bath Boarding School due to its enormous prestige. Largely the pupils come from Britain, the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and other English speaking countries but many students whose first language is not English still choose to travel to Britain for a chance to study at the school. Most pupils come from rich or affluent backgrounds but the wide array of scholarships and bursaries enable students from every part of society to enjoy the school's education.
There's quite a bit of extra information which I would include in the first IC post largely concerning the layout of the buildings and grounds and a more detailed description of the facilities (including the dorms). The dorms are, of course, divided into the two sexes and from there into wings based upon age.
Any other details that I've left out or are required are available so go ahead and ask. I want to test the waters with this one and would like to keep it at Advanced level (as I feel these 'slice-of-life' RPs are often entered into the Free or Casual levels). Suggestions are, of course, welcome.
