The ten year Calm has come to an end and again Sin wrecks havoc on the people of Spira. Only you, as a summoner and their guardians, can destroy it and restore hope to the people.
As expected, this is your pretty generic Final Fantasy X based RP set before the Eternal Calm. We are going to be playing a summoner and their guardians. I'm not so worried about stats here as this is expected to be a more character focused RP rather than a combat one(of course there will be combat though, given the nature of a summoner's journey). When designing your character do keep in mind that classes will matter as I'm hoping to have a full party here. I'm reserving the role of summoner for myself.
Class: (Summoner, warrior, thief, white mage, etc.)
Race: (Human, Al Bhed, Ronso, etc.)
Appearance: (picture, text, or both is fine)
Name: Lucio Rabanastre
Personality: Rather carefree and easy going, Lucio is a kidder and loves a good joke, but can be very serious when it comes to combat. His outlook on life is to take what you can get, and leave the rest behind for the next trip. He doesn't think ahead, it's always about the present day, and even if you do get him to plan ahead, he'll end up forgetting it... Probably. When someone has been extremely careless in combat, he will try and advise them to change their tactic, as he doesn't want anyone to get hurt. It may just be his father rubbing off on him as a sort of teacher or parent figure, even at his young age. All around a good person with a pretty big heart, keeping firm to what beliefs he has.
History: Martial Artists aren't a casual sight in Spira, but they do exist. Most of them travel quietly, and live in the wilderness to avoid detection. They are strict about who they teach their ways, and Lucio's father was no different. After Lucio was born his father had taken him away from his mother and raised him alone, telling his mother that when the time came, he would be ready to meet her as a young man, and would be trained to keep himself safe. His training started from a young age, and advanced over the years. At the age of 18, Lucio's training was finally over, after the years of lifting weights, running courses, taking beatings to learn defensive techniques, and learning a martial arts style to protect himself, he was ready to travel on his own.
He was told he needed to continue his legacy, find a wife, have a child, and do as his father did to him; take the child and train them to continue the cycle. Lucio, although saying he understood, didn't. He thought a wife would be somebody he would live life with and actually love... Was this not true? He believed it to be, and kept the task in mind as something he would do for love. Not a legacy. His travels took him to many places over a year, his knowledge of the world expanding somewhat and his quest for love coming up cold. He wasn't the wisest, but he understood recently about the Calm and it's ending. He wondered why Sin never managed to disrupt him and his father... Was it possible they were just that unimportant? A summoner was preparing to depart to battle against Sin, and he smirked with a thought coming to mind. This would be an excellent way to hone his skills and to travel, maybe finding his love. He knew his Father would be either angry, or proud that he was doing what he was about to do, because even if their legacy ends, it would end with a bang.
Appearance: Short and slim being only 5'3", her fiery red hair is tied into a ponytail, her eyes are green. She wears a dark blue tank-top and dark Green pants with a leather guard and pauldrons, a gauntlet covers her entire left arm and leather greaves protect her legs.
Personality: Eleina is a very fierce person. She's rather quick to anger and irrational at times. She's very impulsive and prone to act without thinking. However make her your friend and you'll have a fierce and loyal ally who'll stand with you through thick and thin.
History: The daughter of a knight, Eleina never liked acting like a lady the way her mother wanted her too, but her father was always supportive and taught her how to fight, ride a Chocobo, hunt, and various other things of that nature. As a result she dearly loved her father until sin took him killed him, leaving her with a burning hate for it. So she became a guardian in the hopes of ending Sin and avenging her father.
Age: unknown. (appears to be in his late thirties.)
Class: samurai (uses a thin katana that can channel his Magic. by putting the blade into it's sheath by the handle, he can use it's magic channeling properties to turn it into a makeshift bow.
Appearance: indralia is clothed in a set of gold and black armored robes. the robes themselves are black, accented with runic patterns of gold. the shoulders are plated with a black metal, with red tinted straps connecting them to the rest of the clothing. the left side of the robe is always left untied, as to give him access to his sword.
his face is a rugged image, scars pelting it's surface. his eyes, a dull red, like crimson bloodshed. he also sports neatly groomed black and red hair, which frames his face. the red tips, brushing his shoulders. all in all, his appearance gives off a vibe almost of nobility, while also showing a wealth of combat experience.
Personality: indralia is a secretive individual, not really speaking much of himself. though, he's shown to be a noble person. always jumping to defend the innocent. that fevor to defend extends to his allies as well. when asked why this is, he'll always say that it's the duty of those with power, to defend those without it.
History: not much is known of indralia in the recent times, and less is known about him from when he was actually alive. but, he does give small pieces. but only those he truly trusts have been told the full tale.
according to himself, he was a leader of a tribe that lived in the deserts of spira.
nomads, fighting for survival in a world bent on death. day by day, he led his people through the harsh sands, repeling attacks from fiends, bandits and even the rare rouge machina.
but nothing could've prepared them for when sin came upon them. there was no warning.
just the regular desert wind, and then a sound like thunder! the sinspawn rained down, like an angry god's boredom, seeking innocent targets. indralia and his kin fought valiantly, but in the end, the waves of foes were too great. indralia went down last. and as he gazed upon his fallen people, something changed in him. his soul, filled with love for his people and regret for failing to protect them, refused to lie down and perish.
he would not let the crime stand.
it mattered not the cost. it mattered not what had to be done. to avenge his fallen kin, he'd rise up again, and again and again, no matter how long it took to slay the beast that murdered them.
thus, he chose the guardian's path. not out of dogma. but for the sake of vengeance. the blood of his people, repaid in the blood of sin.
Name: Zaphikel, or Zaph for short
Class: Black mage
Personality: calm and curious, cunning but not treacherous, she is a careful planner and strategist. Although generally quiet, she is good at taking charge of a situation when confident enough to do so. She can be cold and distant sometimes though, which makes her less approachable than she would like to be, but she is always open to the ideas and suggestions of others.
History: She has pledged her loyalty to her summoner not so much just to destroy Sin, but to learn more about him. What makes Sin come back? Why does he constantly destroy? Is Sin truly evil, or is he just a wild animal acting out of sheer, uncontrollable blind rage? Perhaps Sin is not evil. Perhaps he is only misguided.
Perhaps all of Yevon is misguided. It was one theory Zaphikel has studied about for some time, but not often does she speak of it. There are things in the teachings of Yevon that do not sound fair, and not everything adds up. She has become a guardian not in hopes of destroying Sin, but in hopes of finding answers.
Name: Edgar Latif
Class: White Mage
Personality: Edgar is known to be a patient and contemplative man. Considered by many to be a wise and intelligible gentleman, Edgar views the world with a child-like curiosity. Unafraid to cater to his fascination with Spira's diversity, it would not be out-of-character for Edgar to socialize with random strangers. He possesses a charisma that draws people in and lowers their guards. Though his persona commands a certain respect, Edgar thinks nothing of people's presumptions, and will often engage in self-deprecating humor to reaffirm his modesty.
Edgar Latif was born in Bevelle and well-groomed early on for a high-ranking position within the clergy. At the age of 23, he had become a seasoned clergyman of the Yevon priesthood, mastering the basics of the white mage arts with relative ease. He was destined for greatness; there were optimistic whispers within the upper echelons of the hierarchy about his shining promise as a possible candidate for Grand Maester. While an honorary title within the Church was a fantastic proposition, the young man felt caged. He longed for travel. To see the world.
His mentors took note of his restlessness and felt compelled to grant Edgar's wishes. With a group of other priests, Edgar embarked on a journey that would alter the course of his life and undo everything he worked for. Only a few people know of what transpired on that fateful day, and it would be wise not to inquire about the matter from Edgar himself.
Nowadays, Edgar Latif is an unrecognized entity within the Yevon hierarchy. His name is wiped off all official documentation, though they have yet to make an official statement that either condemns or recognizes him as a member of the church.
Edgar could care less.
He spends most of his time putting his White Mage skills to use at a medical clinic he runs just outside of Luca.
Name: Aleris Leradine
Personality: Aleris is a strong-willed woman, driven by fate into accepting her role as summoner. Despite all this she still tries to just enjoy life when she can. This tends to often give her an appearance of being easy-going despite her tough interior. She is also friendly and caring, other traits she feels are crucial in her struggle.
History: Aleris was born at an unknown location, having been orphaned at a young age. Nobody really truly knows what happened to her parents, but Aleris herself was later taken into the care of a couple in Kilika. It was there where she grew up and spent most of her childhood. However, seeing those around her be killed by Sin drove her to train as a summoner.
These days Aleris has few close companions, seeing many of them be killed off by Sin or taken away to train for numerous expeditions to fight Sin. Even from a young age Aleris knew these expeditions were all in vain, but appeared to support them anyway, to keep hope up until the next summoner could save Spira. It wasn't until stumbling into the Kilika temple with a group of friends her mind had been made up about becoming that summoner.
( Note, disregard the ears, he is human)
Stands at 5'11, and wears an inch heel on his boots, boosting him to 6ft tall. Usually wears some sort of scarf around his neck, a midnight blue one at that; as is most of his clothes that have a colored section on it.
Personality: A tad bit nosy, and most notable is his cynical side. But aside from the negatives he can be quite friendly, just not easily befriend-able. Inquisitive to what he does not understand, but one notable quality about him that frightens most Yevonites is his lack of belief in the taboos of Yevon. He believes that they are not telling the full truth at times with they're poisonous teachings; but as he knows never to question the religious, not out of fear of persecution and being ostracize, but out of respect. From a glance he is seen as a meek person; mostly because of his calm and collective nature. Not one to normally interact or cause altercation unless he feels it is necessary; but will help if he feels it is a good cause.
One a side note, he is quite diplomatic to come to a resolve if it can benefit both sides of a conflict; just in hopes of ending it. Said to be moody; as in not wanting to talk to others. Unlike most followers of Yevon, he is tolerant of all races; such as the Al-Bhed. He is also naturally good with solving problems such as puzzles.
History: Raised under a house where beliefs were open and diverse. From living in Besaid to Luca, he had it pretty well; a nice shaped family structure and good communication to people. The only thing that bothered him was his blissful life; unaware of what a summoner was, what a summoner had to undergo. Both of his parents were summoners, and both of his parents were lost to bad causes; such as greater fiends. Rather than trying to mourn his families loss, he sent them on they're way, they at least taught him this much. But knowing he was going to be on his own, he quickly decided he had to shape up; he was no sinner, but he was certainly not a saint either.
He undergone training with grandfather in the wilderness; learning the ways of the Bard, the attunment of melodies and nature. Leaning that magic was not all there was to life. His life style dramatically changed as well. He helped the Al'Bhed traffic cargo past Yevonites, and even learned a thing or two from them; such as operating machinery, a great deal of they're spoken language. Yet he still had so much more to learn, though he does believe he can help make quite an impression on the world; he did show that he had no problem with the Al'Bhed, nor the Guado or Ronso. He just hopes he can one day help fell Sin.
Some warriors fight by strength and skill, others fight with wit and dexterity, and yet others wade into combat armed with knowledge and unwavering spirit. The Sword Saint is the epitome of the latter path, they're warrior-monks who have understood that merely training ones body and spirit is not enough; and that likewise, memorizing complicated combat maneuvers is a road whose gains are uncertain and transparent. Sword Saints instead choose to fully comprehend the origin and story behind any sword they find, and by doing so, they learn to invoke their very essence and mold that essence itself into supernatural effects. Because of the wonders they invoke upon the battlefield, many Sword Saints are often mistaken for being armored mages.
Draw is an ancient art which focuses precisely on drawing on the latent essences of swords, summoning their spirit to perform a supernatural task for the Sword Saint - each particular blade of renown houses a different spirit, and thus possesses a different ability, the only way to fully realize this ability is to learn the sword's name and discover its story and its associated myths and legends, the powers the spirit invokes draw upon these legends one way or another and thus Sword Saints are wanderers, whenever they receive a new sword, they seek to understand its origin and learn its mysteries and by that empower themselves. Therefore, Sword Saint very rarely wield a single blade in combat, but instead carry several different ones, one or two of which they've understood - and in battle they change armaments often to wield different blades with different spirits, picking those most suited to dealing with the situation.
But as is expected, most swords do not have a story grand enough for them to possess hidden powers; and Sword Saint shun these blades, indeed - their loathing for blades without history and special origin is so great so as to have them refuse to consider them proper blades. Believing such a denotation worthy only of those blades they themselves carry; for this reason common merchants very rarely find customers in Sword Saint, for even the most exquisite blade is of less use to them than the dullest most fragile sword, whose story is both long and respected, such a blade would be turned into an unstoppable tool of battle in the hands of a skilled Sword Saint; as their very spirit and knowledge awakens its latent powers and turns it into a weapon of great supernatural qualities, fit to best even the newest and most impeccable of ordinary swords with ease.
A Sword Saint's goal is a simple one, they're lore-masters of the blade - putting a lot of research into finding a specific sword by tracing its story and its origins to its present location. Thus, by understanding a story, they learn to embrace the blades true power once they acquire it for themselves. Due to their research, most Sword Saints specifically search for a single blade at a time, and they know precisely which one they want - a Sword Saint never wanders aimlessly, for they know that every step they take brings them ever closer to their trophy. Its not unusual for Sword Saint to meet one another and find that they're searching for the very same blade, such happenings are invariably settled with a duel - as they believe that the one most worthy of the blade should have it. Whether they kill or spare their opposition varies from Sword Saint to Sword Saint, but they invariably claim a single blade in the losing Sword Saint's collection as a trophy.
Save the Queen
Aleyn is the type of guy that can make friends with everyone, and, if not friendship, at least respect. Even various summoners have shown interest in Aleyn due to the nature of his abilities. However, though Aleyn can become angry when his friends are hurt or injured, he is also willing to sacrifice those that are important to him as he is willing to make the painful decision to leave them behind when he needs to get the job done. Despite his easygoing personality, Aleyn has shown that he has hidden talent as a skilled swordsman as he is also a quick learner, especially in the midst of battle.
A slacker by nature, Aleyn maintains a carefree, laid-back attitude about everything. When others are stressed out or in a panic, Aleyn usually just mutters everything will work out as a way of seeing things. Aleyn is also confident, strong and inspires courage amongst his allies, leading many to join him. While normally calm, reserved and in control, he can exhibit merciless conviction when in the presence of anyone whose beliefs challenge his, making him very dangerous once provoked. He also has a soft spot for others, and can be quite emotional at times. Above all else, Aleyn is an honor-bound man, and when he feels indebted to someone, he will go out of his way to repay that debt, even if this goes against his own personal best interest. Aleyn is, for the most part, a rather relaxed person. He is often seen smiling and relaxing whenever he can. Despite his carefree attitude, however, he can be merciless toward those who can't judge differences in power becoming angered when a much weaker Sword Saint continued to try to fight him despite having their body severely injured already.
In combat situations, he seems fairly deceptive. He will often downplay his own abilities so that he can shock a target later on with his true nature. He is highly confident in his abilities as rarely do taunts such as those often spoken by any of his opponents faze him. He has the unnatural trait to tell only the truth about his abilities once he finally decides to reveal them to his foes, something that seems to unnerve most of whom he faces. He is also not one to downplay the role of death in one's life. At one point stating that one who is in fear of death is the one most in need of it.
Aleyn's past has always been surrounded in a hint of mystery. A mystery created from the fact of how Aleyn left his home behind and the why. Aleyn was only 14 when he was ended up at the village of Kilika. A place that he had never seen before and it was a wonder of how Machina did not rule their lives. That was not the most important part of Kilika for Aleyn's journey had brought him to meet Aleris, a girl close to his age. For awhile they had become close friends; playing all the time and hanging out whenever they could.
Unfortunately their friendship would come to an end, something Aleyn had always known would happen. Becoming a Sword Saint was a goal that the young Al-Bhed had held within the back of his mind after learning about them through his adventures. With Sin's recent attacks, it only made it more clear what Aleyn had to do. Without thinking it all through Aleyn packed whatever bags that he could and left Kilika whilst leaving Aleris with a single letter stating that this was not a goodbye and that they would still be friends no matter how far apart they were.
Skip to current day and Aleyn is what is considered a master in the area of swordsmanship. Tales about the man have spanned across all of Spira due to his many adventures from surviving the Thunder Plains without being struck once to his mighty tales of protecting summoners but never becoming a guardian. Aleyn has made quite the name for himself in Spira but that is not what is truly important to him. One day he hopes to find Aleris and be able to claim the greatest sword within Spira, Excalibur.
Name: Lucy Heartfilia
Age: 19 and a half
Class: Alchemist (of the X2 variety)
Race: Al Bhed
Personality: A bubbly spaz with a short attention span and a genius level IQ, Lucy looks like a mad scientist parody. She tries to turn every battle into an experiment, slowly expanding her field of knowledge. Using simple items to achieve great effects, she is the MacGyver of battle
History: After her parents were killed by a lynch mob, Lucy ran away from her home in Bevelle, slowly making her way to Kilika. Along the way, she picked up a broken machina gun which she customized with magic. To any who ask her, she is a mage who uses a broken machina to focus her magic. To those she trusts, she is a practitioner of both science and magic
"Ohhh lets see what this does"
Personality: Very proud of her abilities as a summoner, and of herself in general. She is egocentric, inconsiderate and often brags about her high-level education, her 'destiny as a summoner,' as she may put it, her looks, intellect, and most of all her 'humble' personality. She pretends to care about the people, but acts otherwise and treats them like garbage instead. She claims to be noble and have a heart of pure gold, but at the same time she is just throwing her weight around and showing off. Many people still admire her despite her pretentious attitude, but mainly because of two things; A) First and foremost, the choice she has made to become a summoner, and B) the fact that boys tend to drool around her.
And yet; no matter how many times people have told her that a summoner always dies after defeating sin with the final aeon, she always denies it; always insisting on believing that they are simply 'taken' somewhere. Like a type of 'paradise beyond the farplane,' or something equally pretentious as a reward for the summoner's valor and righteousness. Her act is convincing and she is quite stubborn about it, so no one knows whether or not she truly believes these thing or is just making it all up to justify any fears of death she may have hidden, or any truths she cannot handle.
History: As a child, she was a spoiled brat who would always get what she wanted just by snapping her fingers and making demands. To this day, not much has changed. Even when she was little, she had always had a talent for white magic and had a special pact with the aeons. Of course she could not actually summon at that age, but her potential was clear.
However, to this day, no one actually knows why Evelynn has chosen to become a summoner. She was born into a rich family and community that was never attacked by Sin during her lifetime, she has never lost anyone or anything because of Sin. During her whole life as a child, she always ignored all forewarnings about Sin and Sinspawn attacks, as others would usually fend them off and she would never have to be exposed to such terrible things. She always viewed Sin as somebody else's problem and never hers.
Except for one day.
She received a sphere in the mail, took it into her luxurious bedroom, and viewed it.
That was when her life had changed forever. A scream had come from her room, and there was the sound of a glass object shattering. One of her servants rushed in, and saw the remains of the smashed sphere on the carpet floor.
After ordering the servant to clean up the mess she had made, Evelynn vowed to become a summoner.
Class: Black mage
Personality: He always follows his summoner around and does everything she tells him to. Without question, hesitation or second thought. Evelynn has shown no more affection for him than for her other guardians, or for anyone, but Volrath still continues to be her blindly loyal lapdog. Even though the things she requests of him are rather selfish, and have even gotten him into trouble once. He does not seem to mind the fact that his summoner is taking advantage of him, as he literally allows himself to be her little slave/pet.
Literally. He is always so eager to do chores and such for her; no matter how personally degrading the task, and often treats her like a princess.
Volrath is rarely seen without his summoner, but when he is he is usually quiet. When he is not doing chores for Evelynn, or running any errands for her, etc. etc, he usually seems bored and lacks interest in anything else.
History: Volrath and Evelynn have known each other since they were little, and he has been her servant-pet ever since. Even through school. To this day, he has fought her battles for her, done all of her chores, stood up for her, treated her like a queen and so forth, seeming to have no actual life of his own. Some people find him a bit strange that he is like that, even with a pretty girl. Some have distanced themselves from him because of it.
Not that he minds, for he never seemed to care very much about anything else.
*her mount, Joca. Sometimes he can be seen wearing armor, but when things become dangerous Glacia will send him away someplace safe where he can hide. Or run away and hide with him if no safe place is available.
Personality: Glacia talks to Joca like a person, a lot, and is always seen with him. But she will talk nowhere near as much to other people; she is actually quiet around them. She seems to relate more to chocobos than with people at times, especially Joca. She can also get defensive and protective over him, and can even be a little smothering at times. People think her connection with the birds is odd, especially when she seems to put the well-being of a chocobo over a person. Which she has done lots of times. Some people doubt her ability as a guardian due to this, thinking she cares so little about her own summoner.
Which is true. As far as Glacia is concerned, Evelynn is only there to help her achieve her goal of avenging the chocobo farm she had lost. And to Prevent Sin from hurting any more of her precious birds in the future. Should the summoner fail in her pilgrimage, Glacia could always team up with another summoner and start again.
Those things aside, Glacia is in fact very brave, unafraid to take a chance, likes chocobo racing, taming, breeding, and other things involving her favorite birds. She likes other animals too, and will sometimes talk to them as well.
History: Glacia grew up on a chocobo farm, which had one day been devastated by one of Sin's catastrophes. That day left a horrible memory engrained into her mind that will never leave. Nearly all of her beloved chocobos had been wiped out, save for one. Joca was the only survivor, and to this day her closest friend. She had always loved chocobos, but never knew how much she loved them until they were all gone one day.
She wanted to become a chocobo breeder someday, but decided to enlist in the chocobo knights instead. From there Glacia had hoped to learn the skills she would need to slay Sin and avenge her fallen farm friends.
A number of years later, there was an incident among the knights. While fighting a sinspawn, one of the knights had been injured. Glacia immediately rushed to the knight's chocobo and tended to its wound, but completely ignored the knight who was riding it. For her lack of regard for the safety of a human being, she had been forced out of the knights.
Shortly after, she became a guardian.
Class: Mad scientist/Alchemist/Machinist/Technophile/Pyromaniac…? (Whatever suits her I guess, lol)
*except she is Al-Bhed, so her eyes are green with the little spirals for pupils. And instead of the dress, she wears this:
Personality: Cella is very hyper active and easily distracted, Cella has OCD written all over her. She is obsessive, nas no attention span whatsoever, frighteningly creative, and even sometimes dysfunctional. She could never stay mad at something for more than thirty seconds, and changing her mind about it by then and feeling something completely different is not uncommon. She can be impatient, quirky, eccentric, random, but she can also seem a little psychotic at times. Sometimes she will talk to herself publicly, either voicing out her thoughts or talking to someone who has already discreetly walked away before she could notice.
That aside, Cella likes blitzball, hates Yevon, and is a genius when it comes to machina. Forbidden or not, she loves building, repairing, experimenting with, and even wrecking machines of all kinds. When it comes to her crazy inventions and contraptions, or even just machina in general, she can seem obsessed with it, if not a trigger-happy maniac. She is often so eager to test out her latest inventions (which are often forbidden if not dangerous machina) that it can scare people and make them think she is crazy.
Even crazier than she really is.
History: She is not really out to get Sin for any of the trouble he has caused, Cella merely wishes to be able to create a device of some sort that will be able to defeat him. Part of that is because of the challenge it provides, and part is to prove Yevon's bullshit wrong. Cella despises Yevon, but not Yevonites (unless they are one of those obsessive fanatics who will beat her with a bible just for speaking of machina).
*Exactly what kind of machina she has and what she uses... I have yet to ponder.
As it stands, Cella is something of a machine-worshipper and is trying to form her own religion out of it. Not something she has thought about for extended periods of time, and she never did get around to writing more than three sentences of her own personal bible without growing bored and going to shoot off fireworks or something.
