"My past is not a memory. It is a force at my back. It pushes and steers. I may not always like where it leads me, but like any story, the past needs resolution. What's past.. is prologue"
Child of Zebes
Year: Stardate 88765, September 8th.
The new Galactic Federation recruits have arrived from colonies and planets all over the galaxy. Humans, Xenophian's, Kreeblans, and a ton more to boot. However... One of these recruits stands out among all the others. A human girl, of all people.. From the reports on her file, it says that this girl has had quite the troubled past..
Name: Samus Aran. Family: Non Applicable. Claims to be raised by an alien race that doesn't exist on a planet called Zebes. Intel shows that this planet is uninhibited by sentient life, but further investigation is still ongoing. Age: 19, born on Stardate 88746, May 12th. Additional Information: ... Not Applicable at this time, but training suggests she seems to have some sort of high powered suit that surpasses regular Federation technology.
She seems to keep her distance from most.. But it seems that Private Hills is getting along with her just fine, but there's a few others who are making an attempt to be friendly.. I get the feeling that this girl is going to do extraordinary things in her life and there's no doubt she has great potential, as well as these other students... Only time can tell if she's really got what it takes to survive in this galaxy and become a Federation Soldier...
This is Adam Malckovitch, signing off for now. End of the daily required voice log entry."
So, as this short little post would suggest, this RP will take place in the Metroid universe while Samus is still relatively young and just starting out her training with the Galactic Federation. This RP will focus mainly on the main characters who all become close friends of Samus, as well as the bounty hunter herself.
But... There's a catch.
There will be an event. An event that changes the way the Metroid world functions and Samus' backstory forever, thusly creating an entirely new universe and new continuity. Essentially, this event will force a physical "Reset" button to go off and change the Metroid world.
... Okay, so this is a reboot with pre existing characters. "Big fuckin whoop", I know. But its an opportunity for us, as Metroid fans, to delve further into the Metroid universe and learn everything we can about our favourite bounty huntress. What I had in mind for this was to focus a bit more on story and action (you know, what Other M tried to do, but better. I honestly loved that game, just saying) with younger and much more emotionally vulnerable characters (including Samus).
However, that being said, action is an important part of the Metroid universe, which is why the group of friends will all be linked together for the massive event and launch on an adventure of their own against a well known threat, while dealing with a much darker menace. As for a plot device to make this much more interesting, the race of Metroids will be limited to a extremely tiny number: ONE. Following the steps of Super Metroid, the only Metroid known to the universe is in captivity and is being studied for its capabilities as a medicinal tool or as a bio-weapon. That being said, the numbers will increase as the story goes on and events occur, but the point of Metroids is that they are terrifying creatures who can steal your life energy just by 'glomping' you. That is why, for now, the only Metroid will not only be unknown to our characters until a point, but also all knowledge of the parasite will be ERASED FROM LORE, so that our characters can experience the horror first handedly.
On that note with the Metroids, this RP will play out with two separate concepts to convey the story. When the characters are with the GF, are out of danger or not on an alien planet, the RP will be much lighter and focus on development of the characters through detailed conversation. However, when they are in the midst of a mission, the RP will take a turn and become much darker and scarier, matching the pattern of the Metroid series, primarily the tone set by the Prime games. But don't expect tones of each game style to never touch, oh no. There will be moments when two characters could be having an emotional chat about feelings and shit, when all of a sudden the ground shakes and goddamn Kraid shows up screaming and shit. It'll be awesome :3 (fan-boy'ed there for a second, sorry)
Here's the CS if you're thinking about applying!!
Appearance: (if they have multiple outfits, please include them in hiders, or just describe them if you only have one image. All GF members must wear personally edited suits during missions or training).
Species: (Include a description if its something a bit more specific or original. However, all species must be humanoid. So that means no four-legged animals in GF suits, unless your species is slightly anthro)
Weapons: (Unless you are Samus, you are allowed a maximum of 2 weapons ranging from four categories: Semi-Ranged Weapons (ex. Assault Rifles), Short-Ranged Weapons (ex. Pistols or Shotguns), Long-Ranged Weapons (ex. Rifles), and Melee Weapons (ex. Energy Swords or Knives)
Relationship Status: (Single, Crushing, maybe they're in a relationship/having an affair)

Other: (put any additional information here. Maybe your species has tentacles use for eyesight on the top of their head).
Writing Sample: (Don't go too crazy here, but I'd like a minimum of 2 paragraphs. However, feel free to go above and beyond.)
Writing Scenario Choices for Sample: (these are for all sheets but Samus) 1. First Time Off-Planet, 2. Average Day at Home, 3. In the Heat of Battle/Combat Training/Combat Mission in Progress.
Name: Maarcuu Rornaso
It also has a small hole for his tail to stick out of.
Species: Beastman. (Part Human, Part Animal. Humans got a bit frisky with their galactic expansion and mated with other alien species, lets just say).
Weapons: Standard Galactic Federation Plasma Assault RifleSpoiler
Standard Galactic Federation Energy SwordSpoileron the far right
He can also use his naturally retracting claws if he's disarmed and without a suit.
Relationship Status: Crushing, but won't admit it to the girl he likes or anybody else.
Personality or Background:
Background: Maarcuu was born and raised on a Human Colony G-R2 in the middle of "Relenus Vesta", a wild and lush green planet in the southern spiral arm of the Andromeda Galaxy. Despite it being a human colony, Maarcuu and his family were Beastmen, but the people there were friendly and treated them like equal humans, despite the genetic differences. There he lived in a small farmstead with his mother, two sisters, his father and, until recently, his aunt and uncle. Due to the wonderful and ever-bountiful nature of the planet, his father set up a farm and began to harvest the local Barnar, Yoope and Veentair crops, along with many other sorts of vegetables and fruits. One year when Maarcuu was 6, a shipment from Earth came to the colony with all sorts of produce and animals, which flourished in the Relenus Vesta environment and allowed his father to expand his farming business to all sorts of things rather then just fruits and vegetables.
However, while Maarcuu enjoyed the calm and serene life on the colony, he craved for adventure and thrills, turning mostly towards the exploits of the Galactic Federation. He was fascinated by the very concept. A peacekeeping organization that dealt with interspecies issues and extra-planetary exploration, boldly going where nobody has gone before. The very idea of heading off planet and landing on a world totally untouched by the galaxy was unimaginable to him, but he knew he wanted to be that sort of beastman. So, in his last weeks of school, he took the GF entrance exam and sent it off to HQ. The following year, he received a letter from the Federation addressing him of his acceptance. Now, its only a matter of time until he arrives at the Galactic Federation HQ Planet to begin his training.
Personality: Maarcuu is very polite to everyone he meets, male or female. Most girls find it hard to tell if he's flirting or just being nice. He doesn't like to do things by himself and would rather have someone give him orders to follow. Maarcuu can be odd at times, but there's a pretty good reason for that due to his upbringing and genetic background. Even though he smiles, he sometimes feels that nobody really gets him. However, he's a fun and outgoing guy who would stop at nothing to turn his friend's frown upside down. He is also very adventurous and loves the thrill of a good mission. He's well trained in combat as well. He has an exceptional skill with eye to hand co-ordination and he is very good at thinking on his feet. Since he is not human, he doesn't fully understand a lot of what people do or reasons behind human behaviour.
Other: He is somewhat of a country boy and tries to contact his family as often as he can. He also is a bit of a hopeless romantic and seems to try too hard to make things perfect. However, despite his mostly positive attitude, he can be quite aggressive when he is angry or upset. He cares about his friends a lot and won't stand to see them in pain or suffering in any way. He also loves animals of all kinds (except when they try to kill him).
Writing Sample: Topic: 1. First Time Off-Planet (Prologue to Departure)
"And you didn't forget to pack clean underwear, or deodorant, or a pack of Twirlers for the ride? Its a six hour flight sweetie, you don't want to get hungry halfway there and learn that there are no meals on the ship. You really ne-"
"Mom, I'm fine!!" Maarcuu explained in a happily exasperated voice as he rolled his eyes. His mother had been going on about how well he was dressed and how successful she hoped he would be at the academy. He had been accepted into the ranks of the Galactic Federation a whole year ago and was hardly able to contain his excitement.
"Genevieverian, come on now. Let the boy do what he wants to do and stop babying him." Maarcuu's father said with a playful smile as he kissed his wife's cheek. She snuggled into his arms more and happily sighed. "I know, Pauliao.. But I can't help it. He's my baby after all and as his mother, I'm always concerned.". Maarcuu, Pauliao and Genevieverina simply laughed with each other after what had just been said. He was going to miss this the most. The laughter and good moments they shared... just acting like a family, like they normally did. His mother wiped her eyes from the tears that threatened to fall and his father nodded his head. "But seriously Maarcuu.. Your mother and I are so proud of you. To think.. Our little pup is going into the Galactic Federation."
"Well, technically I'm not in the Federation yet. I still have to pass all of my tests and get trained first, but even then its tough to become an actual Officer." Maarcuu explained with a smile as he adjusted the large bag he held over his shoulders. "Well, still. Congrats buddy..". Maarcuu nodded and laughed nervously, his stomach beginning to churn. He was so nervous. Not only about joining the Federation and leaving his family, but also because the arriving transport ship was going to take him away from his home for the first time.
In all of his 19 years on Relenus Vesta, Maarcuu had dreamed of seeing the landscape of another planet. While he was often told that the GF HQ planet was not as beautiful as the green jungles and grassy plains of Relenus Vesta, he was ecstatic about seeing the skyscrapers off world visitors spoke of and experiencing the glory of the never-ending city on the planet with a sun as red as a ripe Bulbamanois Berry. The thought of the lights shimmering off of a foreign building made his hairs stand up on end. He wondered how long it would be until the ship would arrive to take him to this new world. Not soon after he had finished tucking his little sisters in and said goodbye to the children, he got a message on his Holo-Pod:
Attention all Galactic Federation Recruits of: "Relenus Vesta". Shuttle: "85B9", has arrived to take you to Galactic Federation Headquarters. Please proceed to the designated landing site for retrieval and immediate departure.
Maarcuu took a deep breath and tucked the device back into his pocket. Slowly, he stood from his seat and walked down to the front door. On the way there, he stopped by into the living room and smiled. "Well.. I just got the call. Looks like I'm off.." he said in a happy but saddened voice. His parents got up from the couch and crossed to their son, tightly gripping him in their arms. He returned their hug and held back the tears he knew would surely fall. [FONT=Century Gothic]"I love you guys so much... I promise I'll be safe."[/B] he said in almost a whisper before the hug ended. He smiled at his parents again before he slung the heavy bag over his shoulder and exited through the front door. As he walked along the dirt path leading to the bus terminal, he took one last look at his family's farmstead and sighed. "... Time to get going..." he whispered in a reassuring tone as he turned his head around and continued on his steady path.
Name: Samus Aran
Species: Human infused with Chozo DNA (provided graciously by Grey Voice & Old Bird)
Power Suit (with Varia Upgrade)
Relationship Status: Single, but her life has made her a more internal person, so she doesn't have time for boys. Maybe one day, but not right now.
Background or Personality:
Background: Samus Aran was originally a native of the Earth colony K-2L. She was living with her parents, Rodney Aran and Virginia Aran, when, at the age of three, the colony was visited by the Chozo. However, the natives of the planet could not believe what they had seen. The Chozo were supposed to be the things of legends and myths, gods who wielded mighty technology as wisdom that far surpassed any that belonged to the rest of the Galaxy.. Yet there they were, as clear as day. Samus was intrigued by them just like everybody else, but most kept their distance from the strange bird-like creatures. The Chozo had come in hopes of gaining some of the Afloraltite the colony mined there, but the colony was unwilling to give them any. Samus, however, caught the attention of Old Bird, one of the Chozo elders. The two of them went for a walk, where they began to strike up a friendship. Samus began to call him “Grandpa” and Old Bird began to meet with her regularly for walks.
However, a Space Pirate raid led by Ridley soon commenced on the colony. Samus herself had an encounter with Ridley, where she asked if they could become friends. Humiliated in front of his troops, Ridley attempted to kill Samus, but her mother pushed Samus out of the way at the cost of her own life. Meanwhile, Samus' father sacrificed himself to destroy Ridley’s flagship. Little did Ridley know that, in killing Samus’ mother and attempting to kill Samus, he had succeeded in creating his greatest enemy.
Samus was the sole survivor of the attack on K-2L. Eventually, the same group of Chozo found her alone and stranded on the destroyed colony, and Old Bird decided to take custody of Samus. The Chozo brought her to their planet, Zebes, and raised her with Chozo influence. Samus was infused with Chozo blood (the same blood belonging to Old Bird) in order to boost her chances of survival on Zebes; she was later given the powerful bio-mechanical Power Suit built entirely from Chozo technology.
Samus trained under the Chozo for many years. By the age of 14, she was already well past the physical limits of ordinary humans. The Chozo were unsure at first of her ability to become a true warrior until they witnessed her compassion for a flock of Iona Faria that had gone insane as a result of exposure to the Bajar Grove. Old Bird told Samus that she had his confidence and she immediately left the village to prepare herself for her departure to the Federation planet. However, before she could depart from Zebes, the planet was attacked by a group of Space Pirates led by Ridley. Having a sort of psychic link between Old Bird and herself, she felt his fear and pain as the Chozo fought back. Using all of her skills, she rushed back to the village only to find it in ruins, with Old Bird collapsed on top of a pile of murdered Chozo. After successfully managing to revive Old Bird, she heard his final request before succumbing to his wounds:
"Samus, I leave the rest to you. You have become strong, so strong. Samus I know that your fate is harsh, but, though this will be hard for you, there are many people in the universe who need your strength, I want you to save them, be it only one or many, I want you to help them, this is my request. You have become strong, my child."
Samus didn't know what this meant, but she knew that Old Bird was gone and that the Chozo on Zebes were slowly being destroyed. Upon further investigation, she learned that the Mother Brain, who she had met in the past, was in control of the pirates and was commanding their assault on Zebes. Full of rage and hatred for the monsters who took everything away from her twice, she went on a murderous rampage, slaughtering any pirate she could find. Ridley had long since departed from the planet, but Samus vowed to exterminate him the next time she came face to face with the purple dragon. After she had killed the Pirates and uploaded a virus that she believed would cause Mother Brain to implode, she commandeered a Space Pirate vessel and departed for the Federation. There was nothing on Zebes to keep her there now... Once again, she was on her own in the galaxy.
Samus is a strong willed person, that - despite her great achievements - is very humble about what she has done. She tends to never look at what she has done with a sense of accomplishment but as if it was a stepping stone to avhicing greater things. Just as she promised Old Bird; she would become the one true savour of the galaxy. [Younger days] However, all that has happened to her has had a effect on her deep down, as she tends to keep her distance from other humans and so is rather lonely and brooding. She also seeks revenge against the Space Pirates, especially Ridley, who is personally responsible for the death of her parents and planet.. Both of them. [end younger days] despite her downfalls she strives on to become better than she was, and understands that even she is still human. She panics and makes mistakes, but she always tries to push past these things. Samus also has a strong moral code that she will not break on anyones orders, no matter what they may be, and so in a sense this could be seen as stubborn, and while at times she is, it also makes her a driven person.
Other: Samus keeps a journal.
Dialogue Based: High above the planet, in the inky blackness of space, Samus places her hand onto the window of her ship, almost as if trying to touch the planet itself, a planet that she had a strong connection too and yet one she could not truly save. Zebes, this was the planets name, but only the second of two homes she had, but this one was most important and was the one she remembered. Suddenly a static bleep and the sound of something powering up came from the console of her ship, singling the wakening of the rest of her ship from its slumber. The words A.D.A.M highlighted on the holoscreen for all but a moment before the voice of her computer and friend came over the speakers.
"Reboot complete... Still relenting on the past Samus?"
Adam had a almost joking tone, well one that could have been done with the computers interface anyway. Meanwhile Samus took a gulp from the cup of drink in her hand, as she turned and smiled softly to the computer console. She was a little dressed down, having to wait until Adam was done with the computer she picked to relax a little, first time in ages she had done so really.
"Just revisting the past, nothing more. Seeing what made me and all that."
Moving from the window she used her stepping foot to turn the pilots chair before twisting her body to fall back into it. Ahh, she spent good money on a comfy seat... Worth every cred.
"You never did talk much about it."
"No one ever asked."
"I suppose, though would you have told us if we did?"
Samus waited for a moment, thinking over the answer before turning around to Adam.
"Planet Zebes... I called this place home once, in peaceful times, long before evil haunted the caverns below the trust. I was raised, taulght and guided here, and even battled here. There was this one Chozo that I called Old Bird, heh he never did correct me on that. The world outside was frightful he told me, not like there. Of course I knew too well, even by that age."
"Yes. Though after I joined up, and met you and those others... I found out that the universe could also be a comforting place, somewhere that certain people can be counted on."
"Ah yes them...."
Combat Post: Darkness covered the cargo bay, only the warning lights giving brief glimpses of the area in a blood red hue. Suddenly two sets of doors opened, casting a bright stream of light into the cargo bay, along with the shadow of one Samus Aeren. She was almost out of breath, running for her life down the corridor as the creaking and rumbling of metal followed her. Seeing no way past the cargo bay she went into a slid across the ground, kicking up sparks as she twisted her body to face the door she just came out of, her arm cannon at the ready to blast whatever may come out of it. Her breath slowly calmed down, her heart beat slowing as she focused, and she had too, if she wished to survive.
Suddenly the door, and most of the wall, was ripped away by the sheer size of the mother metroid, its hard outer shell making mince meat out of the tempered metal of the hall, allowing it to chase Samus. Giving out a deafening roar towards its enemy, the smaller women before it relaxed for a moment and moved her head to the side to avoid a shard of metal bouncing off her armour.
"If you really wanted to fight that badly... Then I will have to oblige."
The emerald tint of her visor shimmered until the image of her eyes vanished and only a faceless killer remained. Raising her arm cannon she started to fire shot after shot, but each doing as little as the last. The Mother Metroid opened its maw and charged for Samus, its teeth threatening to rip her to sherds if she did not move, which she did. Dashing back she was soon blocked by huge crates, perfect for what she needed as she knelt down mid run, the synthetic muscles of her armour propelling her up and towards the surface of the crate, the Mother Metroid following along with her. However, as she landed, Samus jumped again, cleanly over the beasts head, allowing her to twist herself around and point her charging arm cannon towards the side of its head that was currently smashing into the crate. The backblast from the attack cause Samus to flip and stick her landing on the monsters back. The attack was effective in dazing it, as it could not stop itself from pushing the crate all the way to the back of the cargo hold.
Samus had let her guard down, and a reminder in the form of a whip like tentacle smashed into her side! Wincing in pain, the bounty hunter was flung into the crates on the other side of the metroid. The impact caused a crate to fall down and block the way that the par had come from, which was fine since Samus had no intention to escape just yet.
Slowly standing from the floor Samus looked on to the mother Metroids sudden evolution of extra limbs in the form of tentacles... Why did people have to pump these thigns with phazon? Was it a fad or something to make her job harder? Getting back to work Samus unleashed missile after missile onto the monster, but they only hurt the metroid as it recovered and went after Samus once again. With such limited equipment she could not beat it in a one on one fight.... After jumping up to the neat by crane she slowly peered over to the cargo bay doors. Space was like one big freeze gun right? Arming her missiles she aimed for the control panel and fired for it. In a cascade of sparks and fire the started to open, only to get ripped off due to the presser! Everything was being sucked out now and Samus was running through it all. Dashing, sliding, jumping over everything that was coming her way, but with the presser getting stronger she had little choice but to kneel down and hold on.
Samus had suspected for it to have been sucked out, and yet turning her head she could see it slowly climbing back with those tentacle spines. Before she could react one wrapped around her body and pulled her from the ground and started to bring her towards the metroid! Looking to her left and right Samus gritted her teeth before firing her freeze shot onto the tentacles, allowing them to snap, sending both of them into the dark void of space... Weightlessly Samus watched as the Mother Metroid slowly started to freeze, though her suit protected the bounty hunter her air was limited. Of course she was not worried, after all she had her friend there to help her.
Her ship through right into the frozen metroid and picked her up.
"Seems like I am always saving you, hey Lady?"
Name: Unable to be pronounced or written in any other laungage other then his own, but people call him Cid
Species: Prothean. Despite their appearance, the Protheans are a highly intelligent and peaceful species. On their home world, Runeterra, they devote a good chunk of their time to science and the arts. The Protheans were also the first intelligent life to perfect cybernetics, mostly because they had the greatest need for it. Also, their vocal cords aren't capable of letting them speak to other species that don't understand their language, however, they are very adapt at building translators and use them frequently. While they find wars and fighting a waste of time, they do have a saying that can translate to "never start fights, only end them"
TL84U Plasma Launch (show in picture)
CUL8ER Jump Jet System
Relationship Status: Single
Personality or Background: Cid was a strange child growing up; he was a technological prodigy who spent a lot of time working on his mech suit so that he could travel beyond his home planet. He graduated from collage using his mech suit as a senior project. Cid is a quirky little guy, frequently going on tangents and getting off topic. So much so that it becomes easy to forget that he made all his equipment himself
Writing Scenario Choices for Sample: I decied to chose my own scenario
1. First Time On A Planet With Natural Vegetation: "Oh wow!" Cid said amazed "i-is that a tree!? A real tree!?" Cid gushed "Oh wow! It's so much more...treeish then I imagined it would be. That is a word right, "treeish"? I like it, I think it sounds funny. Treeish, ha. Where was I......oh yes! The tree" Cid got closer and peeled off a strip of bark "and is this bark? Fascinating." He once more marveled at the mundane piece of plant matter he was holding with his robot hands "now that I think about it; why is it called bark? Isn't that what they call the sharp explosive cry of certain animals, esp. a dog, fox, or seal? The English language is so strange. Wait...what was I talking about again?......Oh yeas! The tree" throwing away the piece of bark, he grabbed a leaf "oh it's a leaf......It's so......leafy" a few seconds later, Cid sighed "oh for the love of......I can't keep adding y or ish to the end of a thing to describe it. That makes for a horrible description! 'What's a leaf like?' 'oh it's like a leaf'" he sighed again "honestly, English is such an emotionless language; my language has 57 words for happiness, and I don't mean just synonyms either. I'm talking about words for different kinds and levels of happiness." Cid sighed again "what was I talking about before? Bah, I can't remember" he threw his hands up in defeat before turning around to see the rest of his squad "oh hello there everybody, when did you all get there?"
"Right before you" one of them replied annoyed
Name: Antariksa "Tarik" Mrgam, and Pheral "Fera" Mrgam
Age: 15 [Ages work differently for Sergals, explained in species] [Phera is a Feral Sergal, just btw]
Appearance: As with all sergals he is quite large compared to humans, standing roughly 8 feet tall, lithe in shape, and with very thick fur [Picture works better XD]. He is almost perpetually clad in his personal armor... they're kinda too big for standard GF armor and the like, so naturally the species created their own brand of armor.
Note: You'll have to use your imagination with the feral ones, there's very little 'proper' art of the feral variety, so you'll have to throw in some imagination of your own with the sillouhette XD
Sergals - What you need to know
They come in 2 varieties, reffered to as southern and northern
Northern Sergals are larger and more 'aggressive'
Southern Sergals are smaller and more diplomatic
They range in height from 5-7 feet tall, and 7-9 feet tall
They 'mature' at roughly twice the speed of humans, reaching 'adulthood' after 10 earth years.
There 'are' a variety of 'alpha sergals' that are much larger than average, but are exceedingly rare beyond their home-world... they are dangerous enough that they can't be easily forced to be somewhere they don't want to be.
Sergal's bodies are denser than a humans
They are roughly 3 times as strong/tough as they look, but often 'look' quite slim
Their 'dense instead of bulky' theme allows them to be strong without sacrificing Agility
in terms of physical hardiness, they can survive when exposed to a 'vacuum' serveral times longer than a normal human... provided they don't open their mouth.
They are 'highly' adaptable to changed environments, naturally possessing of resistance to heat and cold temperature changes, though still quite vulnerable to out-right attacks or environmental hazards related to these [I.e. Ice water, freezing attacks, lava, fire balls, explosions, so on and so forth.]
Their jaws are especially powerful and can snap limbs off of unarmored creatures, as well as damage or crush lighter armor
Their bite is highly bacterial, though hardly much of a threat 'these days', centuries of posseessing this quality allow them to be resistant to most forms of 'ingested' things that a human wouldn't be able to eat.
They are extremely aggessive in battle, though not inherently 'berserker' like in that 'most' still use intelligence when fighting.
While they are vicious and aggressive they also utilize tactics and team-work, a sergal along is threatening enough but manageable, put a dozen together and fancy space weapons will be considerably less of an out-right advantage.
Those with the will to do so, are able to practice a type of 'natural power' that can most easily be described as 'magic', though it has it's scientific roots. Those with experience in this 'power' are called 'mystics' all the same. [Note: For the sake of 'sci-fi'y RP, It'll be considered a 'genetic ability' instead of raw 'magic' XD]
The Feral Counterpart to normal Sentient Sergals are much larger, operate on 4 legs, and Immensely stronger. They are still sentient, but in a much 'simpler' way, and not quite as agile or fast as their Bipedal counter-parts.
Their history before introduction into the 'galactic theatre' is a bit moot.
They were originally 'discovered' on a planet known as Vilous by Galactic federation explorers, but were too 'primitive' to warrant contact.
They were introducted to the galaxy however by the space pirates, who had observed for a while the natural vicious and war-like qualities they showed, and on a few occasions 'tested' them, losing dozens of sacrificial militia in the process.
This testing warranted 'assimilation' into the Pirate's collection of dangerous beasties... though things didn't go as planned the first time around.
They stole a handful of them, sure, but the attempt to fully 'conquer' and enslave the species and other's on the planet was met with surprising resistance... What seemed like 'magic' to the scientifically centered space pirates was possessed by many a creature from that planet, and used en masse, with strategy that had been honed over centuries of borderline recreational war... well, many lossess were present on both sides, and they proved a more dangerous match as an organized force than the space pirates had expected, even ending up losing a couple of ships upon which they'd stored too many creatures to contain properly.
After that point though, they didn't risk a full take-over anymore, though they were a bit too 'useful' to simply erase, and instead they took to sneakier tactics, stealing some here and there, particularly the younger variety that could more easily be trained into something obedient.
It became a bit of a status symbol if a commander was able to have several of these vicious beasties under his command without them going out of control, especially the big Feral ones, the more dangerous the 'pet' the more status it gained for it's master.
as is always the case though, time changes things, and careful 'revolts' were planned amongst those the pirates were keeping as 'pets'... it was a long and bloody thing of which the details are unimportant at this time... Bottom line, it resulted in enough sergals learning how to operate a ship to hijack it, murder the pirate crew on-board, and find their way home, where technology hit a bit of a 'boom' once the intellectually focused southerners straightened out how everything works... it still took years of course, and even though able to orchestrate space travel, mostly with stolen pirate ships, they are hardly a big player on the board of galactic politics and nations, but they are 'there' now.
There are also once more '2 different kinds', the kind that communicate, and the kind who remain 'true to their roots' and wage war because it is in their blood, similar to the space pirates with more brutality, but in far less number.
Though who were 'liberated' from pirate ships that they more or less 'grew up on' though, it's not uncommon to become mercenaries or find their way into some military force... upbringing plays a big part in any creatures life and being brought up to orders makes such jobs perfect for them.
Weapons: IF anything about these is a 'problem' lemme know XD This is just my imagination/inspiration at full force, If it's OP I'll fix it. One is obviously melee, but the other would be considered variable weapon/armor. It's not samus-esque power armor by far though.
Class-3 Sergal-make Moddable Pole-weapon: [Shown in Appearance picture]
Consists of a large handle that can have various attachments stuck to it, allowing it to change blades, attach a shield, 'some' forms of ranged weapons or conductive blades, and various other alternative attacheable gadgets.
Most commonly used for 'unique' enemies that require 'special treatment'
Note: I can list current attachements if preffered =3 I don't intend to get 'stupid' with what it can do, but if you'd prefer I can ensure against abuse of variation and list what's currently available.
Mark 3 Sergal-make Mystic's Armor: [Also in picture]
Special Armor that utilizes a 'Mystics' ability to manipulate their natural energy and uses it to create various effects, such as an environmental shield, refining 'spell casting' into a simpler and more effective attack, and so on.
Long explanation short, It has several cells in which it can store excess 'biological energy', which means it can naturally recover these cells over time when not in use [slowly of course, it takes hours to passively fill one completely.]. This energy is used to create vital effects such as shielding and environmental bubbles to protect it's wearer, and normally doesn't suffer a drain on these functions unless used in dangerous areas [or blocking attacks]. But the same vital energy used to form protective functions is also used to power all offensive functions, making it unsuited to a 'berzerker' style.
Note: Same as above, I won't mind listing all current functionality on this as well if preffered.
Second note: It's normal state is sortof 'half armor' but in extreme circumstances that require the utmost protection, or when it loses too much energy to maintain a shield, it will actually fabricate most pieces that complete a 'full suit' with it's own contained environmental needs. The reason behind the 'half armor' state being most common is to preserve agility and mobility of it's wearer, where-as the full suit restricts things in detrimental ways.
Relationship Status: Single, Though he is Bonded with Fera as more than just a 'pet' [not in 'that' way, more like blood brothers], so anyone taking an interest in him must be able to accept Fera as well.
Personality or Background: [Hope it's not a big deal is this is kinda lacking... I put more into the species history and kinda damaged my 'detail engine' XD part of his background falls into the species history anyway xD]
Tarik and Fera both were raised together amongst the 'pets' of the space pirates, part of the first generation of an experiment where they tested how well one could be 'raised' to be a dangerous but obedient pet as opposed to having to tame one that was liable to rip a limb off at the first possible chance... It seemed to work perfectly as they grew up together, though they bonded with eachother on a sort of primal level, leading to neither being willing to be separated from other, which was viewed as a potentially useful quality.
Nevertheless though, As they matured, the nature of a sergal became apparent, though intelligent enough by this time to see that out-right assaulting the demeaning 'master' would only get them kill, they waited and bided their time, easily picking up on the rumors that involved the one's who'd escaped and were causing trouble for the 'masters'... He igured it would only be a matter of time.
And it was, a few years ago a pirate ship approached the one that he was stuck on, along with quite a number of other 'pets', though it seemed that the other's had learned to keep it looking like any other normal pirate ship, by the time they found out, it was too late, and a small legion of sergals invaded the ship, though casualties were felt on both sides, the surprise attack and shere unrelenting onslaught of the others was too much for the pirates to handle while they were so un-prepared for such an assault... Eventually it became the third ship that the Sergals had stolen for themselves from the Space pirates.
Unfortunately though, it was found that those 'raised' in captivity were a bit 'too 'acclimated' to following orders... some were a bit 'broken' and had to be put into more menial roles, other's maintained enough of their proper nature to be rehabilitated, like Tarik and Fera... After a year or so he was actually considered 'rehabilitated' enough to go out on his own, at least, that's the terminology they like to use, it makes a Sergal sound less of a 'risk' to some of the more fragile races like humans, when in reality he's actually pretty close to 'dangerously' independant.
Either way, he Emerged as a Mercenary not long after, equipped with only a handful of unique 'toys' that his race had adapted to making out of Space pirate's stolen technology... He started out with simpler jobs as anyone would have to do, guard duty on transport freighters, 'practice dummy' for GF recruits [it's funny that you can pay a sergal 'not' to maul the recruits in practice], or as personal bodyguard for some who had enough cash to pay for one on their own.
Of course, things happened, and he ended up proving a bit more 'useful' than an average mercenary... and the suddenly boost in value led being hired on for a more dedicated role with the Galactic Federation [Wasn't sure if I should go with, 'actually hired by them as a soldier', or 'upgraded to bounty hunter status and got hired join the group' theme.]
Other: I may have forgotten a detail or 2 about the sergal race... Seriously I've written and re-written them so many times some things are a blur and I only remember them when they're relevant TnT
Writing Sample: N.R due to his sheets massive fucking size XD
