Dusk began to fall in the land of the Starsigns, the land being bathed in an orange hue. Leaves fell from the trees and bathed the dying grass in colours of the sunset. Two companions set out on their journey, wished well by their friends as they left, their silhouettes the only visible living things on the desolate plains. Each step they made across the grass made a crunch, the leaves beneath their feet crinkled as they walked. The journey was long, and painful, as they saw what had become of their realm - Dead trees that held no life, no birds nesting and tending to their baby chicks, no luscious green leaves and shiny supple fruit, the kind that burst with flavour with every bite. No, the trees were all dried up, the branches were twisted into tight, rigid statures with empty pointed ends, only casting a thin shadow across the floor. The aquan life had struggled as well as the birds and plants being that the lake was gone, now more resembling a puddle. It was no wonder that Aquarius, the water carrier, abandoned his home and came running towards the main village. Everyone thought the heat was turning him senile as he cried that this was it. That their world would end here and now.
But looking around, it's safe to say everyone admitted there was a problem.
It was no better in the realm of the Sheng Xio, or "Chinese Zodiac". They were terrorised with ferocious storms, the thunder roaring through the air and sending slight tremors through the ground. The rain would trample down on the peaceful Zodiacs, flooding the few shelters they were able to create. They had to keep moving. But then the snow storms hit, making it impossible for anyone to find warmth. On and on, the blizzard would pelt snow at the windows of the first stable shelter that they got to, but it was far worse than that. The vicious weather would pursue them, that or it was everywhere at once. It was disrupting their life style, and stopping them from focusing on what was important - Their duties.
The Starsigns would govern the characteristics of a newborn for only a few short months, but they were both powerful and ancient, visiting the earliest humans in their dreams to enlighten them with such traits. But the Zodiacs would take control of a year, becoming the guardian spirit of those who were born within their rule. Both the Starsigns and Zodiacs lived separate from each other, only meeting once at the place where their worlds intertwined. It was really just for being social, rather than anything important, but now, that place is of great need to both the Starsigns and Zodiacs.
'We've finally arrived,' These were the thoughts of the silent starsign, Scorpio. She was not interested in making conversation, as it was obvious to both her and her friend that they had arrived. Afterall, it was the only place where the land hadn't died, where water flowed from a small spring nearby, and wildlife run rampant in the grassy area outside a dark cave, only illuminated by a single torch. This is where they all met, this is where they socialised, and now it was where they would meet again. From what Scorpio learnt, Pisces had sent word to Dragon that they would send two representatives to this cave, and they should do the same. From there, they would have to enter the human's realm, and discover what mess had been created to upset the balance within the world.
On the other side, within the dark cave, waited the Snake and the Sheep. Snake was dressed formally, in a plain white dress shirt and plain black smart trousers. That is what humans wore, correct? Smart clothing for an important occasion. Although he didn't know quite what to expect from the human world. Perhaps he should keep his slithering slime green snake tail out in the open, for every living human to gaze upon. No. That wouldn't do. His companion would probably have a heart attack. Finally, he spoke, his tone low and quiet.
"I'm tired of waiting," He hissed, staring at the Sheep next to him
