Makapu Se, always a busy city, was a hive of activity as travellers from near and far descended for the Cloud Festival. In the temple prayers and offerings are made to the spirits and the various gods people worship, but on the streets it is revelry and celebrations. Children play at stalls and games as taverns overflow with drinks and women long into the night. Everyone was preparing for the great feast in the evening, the students at the university carefully practising the display of bending that they would perform that evening under the hot midday sun. In the palace the king of Western Earth Kingdom, Chun Mak, meets with his advisers and dignitaries from around the city and the kingdom in what is known to be one of the most prestigious parties in all the great kingdoms. For the more common man however, the place to be was the central square, in which anyone had the right to step forward and, in a display of forms, show off their skills as either a bender or a martial artist.
