The faint sound of felines scratching against cold concrete could be heard throughout the narrow room. Starling looked at the many felines inside the cages with a sparkle of excitement in his navy blue eyes.
Starling was a boy of fourteen and had a slim, lithe build, though he was far from twiggy. He had silky spiked black hair and a slight tan. He stood at five foot six, so he wasn't too tall. Currently he was wearing a short sleeved maroon plaid buttoned shirt over a dark gray t-shirt. He wore tight black jeans and neon mid-tops. On his right arm were many chain bracelets.
"I wonder which one I should choose!" Star was very excited. Today was the day he would adopt a cat of his own. He had always loved how clean and adorable cats were. But until last month, he was never allowed to keep one. Starling knew he wanted a boy cat! The boy liked males more than females, anyways. The boy didn't really know much about caring for cats, so he bought several boks about the topic. Starling sighed. He was the only human being in the room as of now. The smell of cleaning supplies and bleach reached his nose and he coughed. It was terrible, but in theory was better than smelling kitty waste. Dull artificial lights shone above him. "Hmm... This is real hard to pick! I wish one of the cats could just tell me they'd want to come home with me." The boy mused, unaware that was very probable.
