"Item #16; Lovey Dovey Potion. Found in a small pink vial on the second row from the left for only rupees. Although claimed to get your true love to fall for you, results have been unsubstantiated and, quite frankly, unlikely to ever produce any such effects, as the official magical venders do not have any such potion. However, more evidence would be required before I can officially debunk it," a 16-year-old highschool freshman named Emiya wrote in her pink spiral notebook with her left hand, using her right to brush away the strands of green hair that had fallen in front of her golden eyes that were staring sleepily at the page in front of her. "I will have to make additional passes in front of men in order to better determine what effects, if any, me drinking the potion has had on them. Expect a follow up in the next New Rose Weekly School Report."
She laid down her mechanical pencil, glancing over her rough draft to make sure it was all in order to be published in the school magazine tomorrow. Her articles had gained some popularity over the weeks, so even though she wouldn't have ordinarily involved herself with things such as love potions, it would have been unwise to ignore the latest and possibly most popular item. She conveniently left out that she didn't have much chance from the get go for the potion to be success, but mentioning how she didn't really have a true love and hardly had any interaction at all with men, besides her two brothers, wasn't exactly something to blurt out over the newspaper even if she wasn't all that shy about truth telling. Being at an all girl school and living at the school dorms she wouldn't have another chance to test out the potion until she headed out, perhaps for dinner. She did have acquaintances with a couple of guys who worked at a fast food joint. Well, at least they recognized her and knew her favorite order, and they have had small talk on occasion. Perhaps that counted? Hmm...maybe she'd have to nonchalantly ask the other potion drinkers about their experiences to get a wider range of samples.
She glanced around at some of the other potion drinkers among other girls, most of whom were still laboring over the tests that Professor Kalaf had passed out. She was one of the first to send it back up to the teacher. She was confident in her book smarts, so all she had to do was make sure she didn't make any stupid mistakes and she did rather well. Due to some of them still taking tests she didn't want to risk getting herself and them in trouble by passing notes around to get them to meet up with her after class, so she had to remember to catch them before they left homeroom. After looking at them a bit she turned her attention to the clack. 8:27. Roughly 30 more minutes still remained. She laid her head softly down onto her desk and closed her eyes. It wouldn't hurt to fit some sleep in while nothing was going on. Her insomnia and late nights during scientific research had to have caught up to her eventually. She didn't know how much time had passed since she closed her eyes, or even if she drifted off to sleep, but she was jerked to attention when she felt someone or something caressing against her hair.
Her eyes flicked open and she turned around to see a short girl with a light brown bowl cut hairstyle, who occupied the desk behind her, was now leaning dramatically forward in her seat to try and sniff Emiya's hair. Emiya rubbed her eyes. Perhaps exhaustion was beginning to set in. Something certainly had to be a bit off for this shy girl to randomly sniff her hair during a test. The girl noticed Emiya's gaze and leaned back, blushing.
"Umm...sorry...I just couldn't help myself. You just looked so...adorable," she whispered while a massive blush formed on her face. Emiya didn't know how to respond to this normally, far less when she needed to remain quiet during the test. Perhaps it would be best to just ignore her for now. She began to turn back towards the front, only to catch a glimpse of many of the students now glaring intently at her or...could it be the other potion drinkers as well? Was this just random chance? Emiya's mind was racing and the weariness began to quickly fade from her face. She nervously began doodling and glancing over her shoulder to make sure they other girls were still looking, and indeed they were. There was no menace in their expression. Rather, she had seen that look before from girl's admiring a boy.
"Okay. Think rationally. Maybe I just did something silly again and didn't know it," she thought to herself. "But why the focus on the other potion drinkers as well? And why that look? Maybe this is a prank. Yes! Very funny girls...he he..." she flinched forward when the girl behind her yet again moved close to her hair. "A little overboard and uncharacteristic, yet that's the humor of it! He he...he he..." Her doodling became faster and faster, making it look like chaotic chicken scraps rather then any legible image. She hummed quietly to herself, waiting to see if this bizarre event would come to pass. The scooting of chairs was heard as some of the girls got onto their feet and began to crowd around her desk and the other potion drinkers.
"Hey, um, can I, like...totally kiss you," a girl with long pink hair asked, leaning forward and resting her elbows on Emiya's desk.
The lead of Emiya's mechanical pencil snapped. With a blank look on her face she reached to the top of her article and ripped the page straight down the middle, crumpled it into a ball, then chunked it out the window.
"Umm...pardon?" She replied meekly.
