-Pokemon: In The Shadow Of A Rainbow-
12 years have passed since Michael stopped Greevil and his organization, Cipher. When Greevil was sent to prison, Eldes and Ardos had managed to avoid being arrested, and though they needed to stay low, they dared to both challenge Michael in the Orre Colosseum. Both were defeated, and left a message for him after their losses. Ardos declared Michael to be Cipher's biggest enemy, and that the organization would be watching him for the rest of his days. Eldes wasn't as hostile, and simply told the boy that they were rivals and that he hoped they would meet again one day for another battle. After they took their leave, Michael had proven himself to be the strongest trainer in Orre, and returned to the Pokemon HQ Lab to study pokemon, and knowing Ardos wasn't one to toy with... Ways to prevent Ardos' plans to bring back Cipher by making the purifying process easier.
As Michael was told, he was watched for all of these years. They were close to him, perhaps an assumed best friend, or somebody working in the lab. Or maybe Cipher had better technology than Michael could of ever realized. His studies never advanced much, and though it was a failure somewhat, he became very knowledgeable about the pokemon in the region. Now at the age of 24, Michael is Orre's Pokemon Professor, and at the same time, technically the champion as well. Though he has a firm belief there are trainers who are stronger than him lurking about nowadays, people still respect him as a hero.
Michael is still his excited childhood self, though he is quite serious about his research and anything Cipher related. He shows that he has a deep love for pokemon, and occasionally accepts challenges to battle. His main pokemon is Jolteon, and it isn't a pokemon to be taken lightly. Michael raised it from a small Eevee, and it is loyal to him. Michael doesn't go out into public places much anymore, though he does sometimes go out into the forest with his pokemon, just like the old times.
Recently, reports of overly violent pokemon have come up. Compared to the usual strength of the species, they show immense strength and endurance. Some able to knock holes into walls made of stone, others showing amazing acrobatics and agility. Some pokemon have even began attacking themselves suddenly without confusion being inflicting on them. What is currently happening is a mystery to most, but to those who know, they know a crisis is about to bring itself upon Orre. And somebody has to stop it.
You are one of Orre's youth: A trainer that doesn't really matter much in the big picture of things, but a trainer, none the less. A tour of the Pokemon HQ Lab is started as a way to attract those who are curious, and you end up being brought to the first ever tour. Some might be curious about what goes on inside the lab, others may want to meet the Hero and Champion of Orre, Michael. Some might of not even wanted to come, but were forced into it. This above average day may turn into the event of a lifetime for these trainers. A journey of friendship, heroism, and dark secrets await. Will you embark on this journey?
-What I Ask Of Roleplayers-
1. For you to stick to Casual rules.
2. Decent grammar. I make mistakes, I don't expect somebody to be perfect. As long as I can understand your posts we should be alright.
3. Keep down the swears. Occasional ones in situations, or some used when your character is angry is okay. Just don't go overboard.
4. I'm usually down for chatting and discussing things. It'd be neat if you are as well.
5. For you to be honest with me when you get bored, instead of just ditching without a word. I hope this doesn't happen, though.
6. I haven't thought out every bit of this adventure. Not all of the Cipher Admins are final ones, if you wish to double as one and be the villain of an area, chat me up. We might be able to work something out. If you read these rules, post the name of your favorite starter pokemon in your post expressing interest.
7. Try to be a little creative with battles. Creativity can beat power, remember that! Also; None of us are ultimate trainers, we get in bad situations sometimes, y'hear?
8. If you have issues with my posts, tell me. I wish to improve and I can't without knowing what I did wrong.
-Welcome to Orre-
As you can see, Orre is mostly two things: Desert and forest. A basic idea of areas of interest:
Pokemon HQ Lab: The lab ran by Professor Michael. It focuses on researching pokemon in general, and the process of pokemon purification. The place has began offering tours, it could be a good learning experience for anybody.
Agata Forest: The lively forest with a small village inside. It is the most peaceful place in Orre, nobody fights here. Nobody has any issues. They just live out their lives and hope for nothing but kind neighbors and quiet days.
Dr. Chobin's Lab: After Dr. Kaminko passed, his assistant Chobin took up his projects and stayed in the manor. The place is full of strange inventions... Be wary, trainers. You might accidentally touch something you weren't supposed to.
Gateon Port: Ships dock and leave this port daily. The place is really lively, and it's most notable place is the Krabby Klub! The view from the lighthouse is nice, too. Everything is cheery about this town, usually.
Mt. Battle: A place to test your skills as a trainer. Dare you scale up the volcano during a trip to defeat one hundred trainers? One loss and you have to start over! The lobby is rather big and is an obvious sight at the base of the volcano. Points you earn from winning battles here can be traded for rare items!
Scrapped Shadow Lab: A Shadow Pokemon Lab in the desert that had been stripped for all it's worth. It's an empty building, but some people say there's a group of children who hang out in there! What could they be doing...? Maybe you'll find out.
Wreck of The S.S Libra: A ship that was stolen strait out of the sea and dumped into the desert twelve years ago. It still sits in the desert, and some trainers hang around it. There's a memorial for those who died aboard the ship as well.
Destroyed Key Lair: The former Cipher Key Lair was destroyed after Cipher's defeat. It's dark secrets and technology are forever lost...
Snagem Hideout: Team Snagem is still around after all these years, but they really don't cause any problems. They seem to have gotten a new leader...
Echo Canyon: A rather empty place... Going through the Canyon is the fastest way to the Snagem Hideout.
Realgam Tower: Part fortress, part high-class hotel! There are several areas for guests - an information desk and reception area, several Pokémon healing devices and PCs, a bar, a casino, and many other luxuries honeycomb the tower. At the very top of the tower is a giant, white Colosseum surrounded by a stadium suspended in mid-air. Members only, so good luck getting in.
Outskirt Stand: A gas station/diner. Wanderers usually stop here for a drink, a bite to eat, and supplies. Perhaps the occasional battle.
Phenac City: Perhaps the cleanest and one of the safest places in Orre, Phenac City is known mostly for it's Pre Gym and the Phenac Stadium. It's a good place to practice for beginners and experts alike. They dislike those from Pyrite town, and the word around is usually always about how crime-filled Pyrite is...
Pyrite Town: A town of crime, full of scumbags usually. You don't take a trip through Pyrite without encountering some kind of thug or crime going on. Be careful, they don't take kindly to heroes here; being too heroic might get you thrown into the ocean by one of the gangs....
Orre Colosseum: Only for the best of the best. Only the strongest trainers show up here. The current champion is Professor Michael... Maybe you'll end up battling him one day? Unless another takes his place before then.
Pokespots: There are five Pokespots; which are the only places for finding wild pokemon. Finding them requires bait that can be bought from any store. There are only three Pokespots in Orre. The Cave Pokespot, which is up a long path leading up the side of the volcano. The Rock Poke Spot, near Echo Canyon. And The Oasis Pokespot, which is out in the desert, not too far from Agata Forest. One is near Gateon Port and the Ocean, and the last one is in Agata Forest itself. Wild Pokemon cannot be caught elsewhere, remember this.
Depending on where you are from in the region, these NPC's may or may not be important for you to know about.
(List will be expanded as we progress.)
Professor Michael: Even if you don't care, this name is known to you. He is a hero that saved the region you grew up in! Though he thinks nothing of it anymore, he honestly is happy just living his life out as a professor rather than a hero or champion.
Captain Hedger: Captain Hedger is an old sailor who watches over Gateon Port. He is stern, and very blunt. If he wants you to get something done, you better get it done. Or you aren't getting anything from him.
Mayor Abe Wedgeworth: The newest mayor of Phenac City. He seems friendly enough, though is serious about protecting the city. If you are looking to get information about something happening in Phenac, there's no better place to go than his house/office.
Duking: The largest man in Pyrite Town, and the closest thing to a mayor they have. He is a good man, though he looks ready to tear you apart as if he was an Emboar. Once you get past that your good to go!
Elder Hetten: The elder of the village in Agata Forest. He is calm and mostly quiet, and can become very easily annoyed when Alcin gets himself into trouble. He likes for the people of the village to aid him in solving problems, usually not accepting help from outsiders.
Youth Bandit Alcin: Alcin is a young man that roams Agata Forest. He does so to protect it from evil-doers, and sometimes he just assumes and attacks- Earning him the title of Bandit by some, even though he has never taken anything from anybody.
(From the Wiki)
Shadow Pokémon are created through an undisclosed process that removes the Pokémon's emotions, turning it into a soulless fighting machine. Ein, creator of the process and Cipher's head scientist at the time of Colosseum, refers to this process as "shutting the door to their hearts". In XD, Cipher's science division refines and upgrades the process, allowing many Shadow Pokémon to be produced simultaneously. The head of the science division, Cipher Admin Lovrina, also works on stabilizing the process to increase resistance to Purification; her ultimate goal is to create a Shadow Pokémon that is completely impossible to purify. (Which obviously failed.)
While normal Pokémon are generally friendly and trusting creatures, Shadow Pokémon are not hesitant to attack with full force, using Shadow moves, such as Shadow Rush. Likewise, they do not attack only other Pokémon, they will actually attack Trainers. Shadow Pokémon can sometimes be overwhelmed by their emotions, indicating the relative instability of their Shadow state, and will sometimes enter a state known as Reverse Mode. This state will be triggered more often the closer the Pokémon is to purification, making them generally more difficult to battle with until they are ultimately purified. A Pokémon in this state can be cured of it by calling to it in battle or use of a cologne, as well as several other methods, or can recover on its own.
Pokémon can be purified from their Shadow state in several ways with varying effectiveness:
(NOTE: As GM I will judge how effective an event was to opening a pokemon's heart.)
Interaction: Walking around and interacting with it will slowly open it's heart.
Battling: A Shadow Pokémon sent into battle will feel more important to the trainer, and good battles will open it's heart.
Calling: If a Shadow Pokémon is in Reverse Mode, calling to it will not only return it to its senses, but also open it's heart more.
Massaging: Using special colognes, Shadow Pokémon can be massaged to open their hearts through kindness.
Purification Chamber: Between Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD, a special chamber was developed in the Pokémon HQ Lab that could quickly purify Shadow Pokémon, making the process easier, in case Cipher were ever to return. There has not been much progress since then, and without one of the new Shadow Pokemon, nobody can be sure how effective the chamber is on the newest batch.
-Teams and Catching Pokemon-
Your teams will consist of your starter, and for the most part, Shadow Pokemon. There will be chances at certain points to visit Pokespots, but what appears there will come out of a random number generator. This of course, means you cannot choose any pokemon for your party except for your starter. You can use certain Shadow Pokemon and Pokespot Pokemon you catch, but until you get to those points, you'll have no idea what you'll have. Don't worry though, I won't make you have 6 Water Types. I'll try and keep types balanced for everybody.
Catching Pokemon isn't as much based on damage as it's based on your creativity. The more enjoyable your post was to read, the better chances you have of catching the pokemon. If you wish to catch a pokemon, make sure to end your battle post by throwing a pokeball and having it rock twice. A bit of quality writing might assist you in the task as well.
As Game Master, I'll not have an actual character travelling with the group (Unless I find an NPC needs to be brought along). I will be playing NPC's and the majority of Cipher, moving the plot along.
Along with that, I will watch over battles and make sure everything runs smoothly, awarding XP based on the quality of the post.
I will also be keeping track of how close Shadow Pokemon are to opening their hearts. Quality posting will effect this as well.
No Characters From other Regions, please!
No sons or daughters of Canon characters without GM approval.
Personality: (Shoot for a paragraph with this.)
History: (Doesn't have too be too long, but a little detail about where the character is from and about his/her life is wanted.)
Starter Pokemon: (Must be unevolved, and it can't be a Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon.)
Writing Sample: (I'd like to see a sample of your average posts. If you make an extra large post here saying it's your usual and it's not when we hit IC, your out.)
Note: Levels are simply for moves and battling experience. Not power.
Nickname: (Not necessary.)
Level: (5 for Starters.)
Ability: (No dream world abilities.)
Moves: (Up to four moves. They must be able to be learned at your current level. No egg, tm, or tutor moves.)

-Heroes of Orre-
Vincent 'Vince' Valore. His aunt insists on calling him 'Vince'; easier on the tongue, and it sounds less...'rich'.
Sixteen years of age. (16)
♂ Male, of course.
Vincent is a tall, slender boy of Caucasian heritage, with light, pale skin and a slender/lithe frame from eating healthy and indulging himself in light exercise, especially when doing boring chores for his aunt. His hair is a leafy brown, seemingly messy yet tamed at the same time, folding in-between his forest-green eyes, and curling around his ears and head. Vincent's mouth is naturally set into a bored, lazy frown, and his eyes are constantly half-lidded and apathetic, giving him the look of a 'bored Treecko'. His usual clothing, though varying in style every now and again, is usually that of a tight white tanktop, tightly hanging on to his slender frame. Over the wife-beater, Vincent wears a forest-green shirt, this time loose in it's fit. Blue jeans and black sneakers with green engraving are his other clothing items, along with a forest-green digital watch clasped securely on his right wrist. A small, tan travelling bag is almost constantly hung over his shoulder, both light in weight and appearance. Standing slightly tall, at the height of 5'9, and only weight a light 138, Vincent is the spitting image of a healthy, if not ruffled/lazy young teen.
Vincent Valore has a very passive, calm, and seemingly apathetic attitude. Along with his passive demeanor, he seems to always 'remain chilled' and never uses large amount of energy unless absolutely necessary; causing him to come off as a lazy ass-hole. As a result of his 'calm, lazy' personality, Vincent talks little and seldom shouts or gets angry, though he does appear to get irritated if pestered enough by annoying questions or loud, cocky brats. However, despite his 'annoyingly passive' attitude, Yami is actually a clever, cunning, and smart male, though his personality doesn't show it due to him not sugar-coating or meowth-footing over his words. He enjoys a good game of chest or a light workout with fruit, and could actually hold a pleasant, if not dull conversation when confronted with someone as thoughtful and as 'less-annoying' as himself, leading others to believe that he really, really dislikes people that could be labeled as loud or obtrusive. Naturally secretive and quiet, people tend to think of him as a sly, lazy grass Pokemon that only hunts when it's nearly starved. To be honest, Vincent believes himself to only be as average and non-supernatural as they come, and often have to remind others of this fact whenever people get too over-zealous.
Vincent was originally born in Agata Forest, more specifically in a small, peaceful hut that was naturally built using fresh, wooden logs, the occasional scrap metal, and berry paste combined with fresh water. His mother went by the name of Pamela Valore, or 'Pam' as she went by with anyone close to her. His aunt, Sierra Valore, lived with the two of them, helping out when necessary and seemingly just there to either talk with Pamela or to simply teach Vincent whenever he wasn't outside sleeping, hunting for berries, or chilling out with some of the friendly Pokemon that occasionally wandered close to their quaint home. Father...well...Vincent knew nothing of his father, and to be honest, he didn't really care. One time, out of curiosity he had asked his aunt about the mystery man, yet she could only tell him that his father was a 'lost cause', and that he didn't want to 'put out'...whatever that meant. Vincent didn't bother with asking his mother; if Aunt Valore didn't give out the whole truth, why would his quiet, peaceful mother ever tell him about his father? So...he left the case alone, ignoring the topic and simply going on with life. Hunting for Sitrus, Oran, and Pecha berries whenever they needed extra food to go with their store-bought meat, or to simply gather berries for snacks. His Aunt Sierra had built him a hammock out near their clearing, tied between two tall, sturdy Oaks. To Vincent, it was the best place to rest and hang-out at, while either reading a book that they bought from the nearby Port, or to simply eat a few berries while rubbing the fur of the peaceful Rattata's or Sentrets that occasionally came to lay on his hammock. Life was good for the ten year old Vincent 'Vince' Valore...but what he didn't know was that his life was going to get a lot better with the arrival and 'capture' of his new partner.
It started as a normal day for the thirteen year old Vincent. He awoke in his hammock, tightly wrapped in a warm, furry blanket that smelled suspiciously of Pidgey and Sentrets. Sure enough, as the half-asleep teen moved over to leap out of the hammock, a flurry of brown and white-colored blurs shot pass him, taking flight instantly with a musical ring of "Pidgey!". Another slight movement caused large, soft rabbit...things with large tails to leap out of the hammock, jumping onto their tail and springing away with similar squeaks of "Sen-tret~!". Vincent smirked, half dazed, as he watched the Pokemon flee away, their warmth for the morning taken away from them as the Sandman took away his gift of sleep. Vincent let out a large sigh as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and turned his legs over the edge of the loose cloth that served as his 'bed under the stars'. The thin string that tied the hammock to the two Oak trees swung taut, but the young boy ignored it as he leaped from his spot and landed gently on his feet, tilting dazily on his toes as his eyes wandered towards the cozy hut that served as his 'home away from sleep'. It was then that his Aunt Sierra peeked her head from out of the wooden door that feigned as the entrance to their humble abode. "Vince," she yelled, waving him over, "Pam said to go get some berries for breakfast! Don't wander too far!". Aunt Sierra was around 5'10", with a rather...'wide' build and a mannish chin. She has a sliver of feminine charm to her look, but she seemed more Machoke then Woman. However, Vincent respected her for helping them out, so with a lazy wave and a quick, "Yes, Aunt Sierra.", the young boy sighed and slipped on his sneakers, which was resting right under his hammock. By then, all sleepiness had left his mind, though there was still a shred of laziness in his step as he shrugged on his traveling coat, which hung from a tree limb. His berry satchel was hanging off of the coat, so, seeing as he was ready to go, Vincent began travelling farther into the forest, wary of Sierra's warnings of not going too far, but feeling as if something was pulling him farther in...
[A few hours later...]
With his berry pouch filled, and his mood considerably lightened due to having Treecko hanging off of his shoulder, Vincent began traveling back to his hut, with both a new friend and a pouch filled with berries. Two in one, neh?
[Three years later]
A lot of things have happened in those brief three years. Officially capturing Treecko, playing with Treecko, teaching the Pokemon how to gather berries the proper way- The lazy thief had the tendency to eat every berry it sees!- and not to mention his first encounter with the annoying bandit, whats-his-name....oh, yeah, Alcin! That was an intriguing memory.
[A few weeks ago...]
Vincent wandered through the beautiful forest that housed his whole family. He was now sixteen years old, and he had grown from the scrawny, insomniac-looking kid that he looked like a few years back. His brown hair had grown tremendously, reaching between his eyes and around his ears in messy, curly rivets. His green eyes, now a forest/mint green shown with a dull, apathetic demeanor, though behind that one could see a light shining with potential and eagerness. A small sack hung across his shoulders and towards his waist, filled to the brim with berries and nuts of all kinds. A poke-ball hung off of the bag, shrunken and colored a dark green and black. It housed Treecko, his quiet and lazy starter that simply loved being inside of the poke-ball due to the sleepy-state it put the occupant in. Vincent didn't mind; whatever the chill young grass-type wanted. He actually envied the Pokemon! To be able to wander the world of the Poke-Ball, forever in a sleep...yet active! Such a dream...
The thought of sleeping and dozing and Poke-Balls took over his mind, and unknowingly to Vincent...that was the perfect time to strike! A loud yell sounded from the dense foliage around the young man, and a boy in his late-teens to early-twenties charged from out of the forest, a tree-limb clenched securely in his hands. A bandana was tied around his head, and he had the eyes and appearance of a bandit. At this observation, Vincent's eyes snapped open and he narrowly jumped back, causing the bandit to over-extend his swing, forcing him to stumble. Shocked at the sudden attack, but instantly regaining his cool, apathetic demeanor, Vincent stared at the panting bandit as he pulled his over-sized tree limb from out of the soft dirt. "Why are you attacking me?" he asked bluntly, resting a nimble hand on Treecko's poke-ball. The bandit, with a final grunt of exertion, pulled out the tree limb. A quick glance at the young man caused him to grin cockily; apparently Vincent's slender, lithe frame caused the bandit to underestimate him.
"Hah! Yeah right! You're obviously a criminal...what with your bag full of loot and your messy, criminal-like hai-"
"Treecko, pound this fool."
Smoothly, Vincent reached back and plucked his poke-ball from off of his bag, easily sliding it into the palm of his hand and flicking it forward, where it soared through the air before....slapping the bandit dead on his fore-head with a resounding 'SMACK'. The force of the Poke-Ball smacking the bandit's tanned skin caused the ball to enlarge and release a red stream of energy, which quickly materialized a small, lithe form above the bandit's head.
Alcin the Bandit screamed, bending forward to rub his fore-head with quickly tearing eyes. "Damn it! Ow, that hurts. You blasted crimin-" he was cut off as Treecko flipped around in mid-air, revealing his glowing tail as gravity took it's toll and brought the Pokemon down on the bandit's head with the force of a sledge-hammer. "Treecko~!"
It wasn't even a competition.
With a lilting yell of delusion, the bandit fell to the ground, soundly unconcious with a quickly-forming lump on his head. Treecko leered at the unconcious body before leaping onto it's trainer's shoulder, forgoing the usage of the poke-ball for now. With crazies like that, he needed to stay out and protect his trainer! Vincent merely smiled softly before coughing, reaching into the bandit's pocket and withdrawing a small sum of money; trainer's pay, and resuming his walk towards home, with Treecko grumbling softly about 'crazy bandit baddies'.
Vincent was pulled out of his thought-process as a heavy-set lady tilted over his hammock, pouring both Treecko and Vincent himself out of the make-shift bed and onto the soft ground below. Yelping with annoyance, with Treecko ready to unleash an angry Pound attack on the offender, Vincent stared up at the smirking face of his Aunt Sierra. "What do you want...? We were enjoying memories." the young man grounded out through gritted teeth. "Treecko!" the young Pokemon added, glaring, annoyed, up at the large woman.
Aunt Sierra merely smiled sweetly.
"Vincent, Treecko, both me and Pam decided that you were going to the tour up at-"
Treecko, the grass-type Pokemon. Look below for his character sheet.
Vincent watched calmly as the Pidgey circled over-head, beady black eyes glaring hatefully at Treecko. Treecko himself was just as calm as his trainer, with his arms crossed and the the stem from a Sitrus berry hanging limply out of his mouth. They'd been wandering through the forest, looking for something- anything to examine/explore after being forced out the hammock by Aunt Sierra, and was dive-bombed by this beast of a Pidgey. While it retained the same colors and over-all distinctive accessories of a normal Pidgey, this specific bird Pokemon was slightly larger then the average bird, with hateful black eyes and scarred, incredible wings and a twisted, razor-sharp beak. At first Vincent wanted to wander away; this fight wasn't worth it, and Treecko could seriously get hurt. Yet...the normally lazy grass-type insisted, fussing and muttering at Vincent to let him have this battle. While Vincent himself couldn't directly understand the Pokemon, after a while he could decipher certain tid-bits, and the gist of the argument wasn't lost on him. So...hesitant and annoyed, Vincent had allowed the battle to commence.
Just in time.
Seemingly annoyed with circling the air above the two partners, the Pidgey let out an incredibly loud and sharp "Scraw!" before blasing downwards at an equally-incredible speed, a classic 'tackle' attack. Vincent moved his hand to the side sharply, his dull and monotonic voice gaining a sharp, powerful edge. "Treecko, dodge!" he commanded, watching as the Gecko Pokemon rolled on the balls of it's feet and sharply pivoted to the side, causing the large, scarred Pidgey to tackle nothing but the hard, unforgiving earth. It buffeted against the ground, body garnering dust and small, shallow scratches from rubbing against sharp stones. The Pidgey rolled onto it's clawed legs before attempting to fly off once again, to get air-borne once again. Vincent wouldn't have it, however.
"Quick, before it can take flight. Leer, and follow through with another Pound." Vincent quickly yelled, eyes shining with anticipation and calculating intensity. Treecko immediately, almost scarily so, responded to it's trainer's command, Glaring hatefully at the semi-airborne bird Pokemon. The Pidgey faltered, tripping on a stray pebble and falling straight onto it's beak, which embedded itself into the hard dirt. Treecko capitalized on the Leer advantage and ran towards the momentarily-stuck Pidgey, causing it's eyes to widen as the grass-type Pokemon swiftly cleared the space between them. Before she could react, Treecko's tail struck her in the fact with the force of a tauros, yanking her beak from the ground and slamming her into a nearby tree with a resounding 'CRACK'. She lied there, half-stuck inside of the tree, head down, large chest heaving from exhaustion. Treecko paced nearby, keeping watch, but not yet attacking. Silently, Vincent stared at the magnificent bird Pokemon. It was defeated. He wouldn't hurt an exhausted Pokemon.
Wordlessly, the grass-type followed after it's trainer, turning his back on the unconcious bird Pokemon. He agreed. He wouldn't stoop down to such levels. He would never fatally injure a Pokemon unless forced to. They aggro'd it...it didn't deserve suffering just because of their idiocy. It would heal, and they would meet again...eventually.
Treecko, the Wood Gecko Pokémon.
N/A. Neither Treecko nor Vincent likes the idea of naming Pokemon.
5, as all starters are.
♂ Male, of course.
Overgrow - Overgrow is a Pokemon Ability that increases Grass-type attacks by 50% when the Pokemon is close to fainting, or badly damaged. For Treecko, it is signified by his eyes turning from an amber-yellow to a forest-green, similar to the eyes of it's trainer. It's body mists with green energy, and his over-all appearance seems more...mystifying.
Leer - Treecko glares at the opposing Pokemon with narrowed, glowing yellow eyes, faltering the opponent and lowering it's defense, leaving it open for a slightly-more-powerful attack.
Pound - Treecko swiftly moves/leaps/rolls towards the opponent, turning around quickly and abruptly 'Pounding' them with his tail. His tail is a bit more powerful than his arms, so therefore the attack is more powerful if used by the tail rather than the hands.
Ah, so this story is a bit...interesting.
Treecko was a rather...peculiar Pokemon, thought not too unusual when it comes to those of his species. Naturally lazy and seemingly bored, the young Pokemon spent most of his time either wandering through Agata Forest, eating off of and fruits or nuts he could come across, and sleeping whenever running, jumping, and eating wasn't fun or exciting anymore. The young Pokemon had never met his parents; he only remembered hatching from his egg, latching on to a nearby Sitrus berry, and staying around that area in this wonderful forest he called home, wandering out of his clearing every once in a while to exercise, train, or to generally enjoy the forest. He had been wandering closer to the humans- he'd never bothered with them, and opted to stay away due to not wanting to be bothered- when he saw...him. The young boy was only around the age of thirteen or fourteen, and he traversed through the forest as if he'd been there his whole life, ducking out of the way of lowly-hanging tree limbs with his hands tucked deeply into his pocket, avoiding every root, rock, or boulder.
Occasionally, a Hoot-Hoot or Pidgey would take a fleeting glance at the young boy, but with a small glance from the young boy they arched away, not bothering with such an empty meal. Treecko was amazed, hiding in his tree, nibbling on a ripe Oran Berry. The boy was interesting, not afraid of the powerful Pokemon, and was traveling through the area like a pro! Of course, the Pokemon's mind as still young and he was, despite being lazy, still naive. Curious about the human, Treecko leaped from his perch on the limb and fell the measly 10-14 feet and landed in a roll...right in front of the boy. With a surprised yelp, the human boy fell backwards, dropping the berry pouch that was hanging off of his neck like a noose. Treecko was automatically on his feet, prodding the boy with a stick while also grabbing a few Pecha and Oran berries with his tail, hiding them from the human's view. The boy, seemingly over his shock, simply sat there, his mouth now closed and set into a bored line. Treecko continued to prod absent-mindedly at the boy's head with the stick as he nibbled, observed the first human he's been this close to. After a while of this, the boy, seemingly annoyed at the prodding, swatted the stick away and stood up, easily bending at the toes to gather the few berries that Treecko's paws didn't grab at. The grass Pokemon himself simply stared stupidly as the boy finally stood up.
"So...you're Treecko, huh?" the young boy finally said in a droll, lazy voice that matched Treecko's own. The grass Pokemon smiled sheepishly before gesturing at the berries that rested in his tail's folds. The boy took a glance at 'em before smirking and waving it away. "You keep it." he snorted, turning away and walking back the way he came. After a scarce minute, he looked back at Treecko, whom was still sitting sheepishly on the ground, staring.
And, with that, a friendship was forged...
Amber is short in length as she just reached five feet, has crimson colored eyes and long jet black hair and wears glasses. She is skinny, a bit smaller than the average female. Apparently, she has fast metabolism, not being able to gain anything no matter how much she eats. She wears a black long sleeved shirt, which shows her stomach a bit, with red filly borders at the end of each sleeve and collar. She has on matching pants as well, black with red pokeballs on the left pants sleeve. Around her neck is a necklace that she received from her grandmother when she was thirteen years old.
Amber is a spunky, tomboy female trainer that loves nothing more than to have a good battle. Not to mention, she would also help out any person or pokemon in need. Like if a Caterpie was stuck somewhere, crying out for help, then she would not hesitate to help out the poor bug type. Her main reason for wanting to help anyone she could help, is because when she was little no one bothered to help out the girl whenever she was in trouble.
Amber Jones lived the wonderful city of Phenac City, the cleanest place in the Orre Region. The girl would love to run around and play with the other children and their pokemon, even though at the time she didn't have her own just yet. Nonetheless, she loved to play with her friend's Lotad and Skitty.
As she gotten older, her love for pokemon grew especially from watching pokemon battles her friends would have. The girl would always become the ref whenever they have their battles and even make up small contests just for fun. When she went back home, she was surprised to see her grandparents inside waiting for her. They surprised the girl with her very own pokemon egg, as they knew how badly she wanted her own pokemon.
Amber spent her entire days with the egg, doing whatever she can to make it hatch. She even showed her childhood friends that she was going to have her own pokemon. They gave her pointers on how to take care of it whenever it would hatch. It was that night when the pokemon egg hatched in her arms, the pokemon being a baby Squirtle. Her favorite pokemon in the entire world.
That morning, crimson eyes were met with purple ones staring back at her. "Squirtle", it cried out happily and began to snuggle the girl with a loving embrace. The girl was quickly to embrace the water starter, happy that she finally gotten her very own pokemon.
"Come on Shellshocker, it's time for breakfast", a cheery voice called out. The Squirtle that was curled up beside her woke up, rubbed his eyes then gave a happy smile to see Amber's face. He loved to see her smile in the morning, it always made him feel very happy inside. Grabbing Shellshocker, she walking out of her room and towards the kitchen as the smell of breakfast lingered in the air. "Morning mom." "Good morning Amber and you too Shellshocker. I'm making breakfast and it's almost done." Amber sat down at the table, along with her trusty partner sitting on her lap as this is how their morning starts everyday.
[Hope this is good ^^']
Shellshocker is a bit of a playful little pokemon, and quite affectionate towards Amber. Having receiving it from an egg as a preset from her grandparents, Amber spend all her time trying to hatch it. The little water turtle finally hatched from it, and quickly jumped at her chest to snuggle with her. It also picked up another trait, though it was unexpected, the little pokemon gotten very protective of Amber. Even as of today, he would make sure everything's okay for her to walk around without a care in the world, with him riding on her back.
Name: Alexander "AJ" Indigo
Appearance: AJ has a rough tanned face. He keeps his dark blue hair short and cropped, always out of the way. Though when alone in his thoughts he wears a serious frown, when actually engaged in conversation he shows his big smile and his light brown eyes "warm up." He is of a avergae height, and a sturdy build from years of loading and unloading, hauling and stocking goods. He typically wears a dark blue tank with a loose white shirt halfway buttoned over it. He wears a simple pair of patched up blue jeans and brown boots. He wears a simple dog tag pendant on a cord around his neck, a magnemite symbol cut out of the metal.
Personality: Alexander is a social enough person. He is a bit full of himself, but has a good heart. Though he can be sarcastic, he is never outright disrespectful to anyone. AJ cares very deeply about the people in his life and will do whatever he can to help them. Though he'll quickly put himself before complete strangers, he will gladly sacrifice his own time and resources for those he's accepted into his life. He has a quite a temper and once he's set off it's hard to calm him down. He has a deep resentment against all who take advantage of the weak, but just as well he is irritated by those who refuse to stand up for themselves. He greatly values strength, but hates those who abuse it.
History: AJ has no delusions that Orre is a nice place to live. He grew up on the edges of the desert, his family struggling to make ends meet. They ran a small stand for travelers though it was a bit out of the way so there wasn't much business. From day one, AJ was involved in the day to day operations. First just general cleaning, eventually becoming responsible for unloading of goods and stocking when he was old enough. They got along fine, though every now and then his parents would have to limit their own portions in order to keep him fed.
The lack of money wasn't helped by his father's weak composition. He had always been sickly, but also just weak willed. It wasn't completely unheard of for someone to take advantage of the man and simply take off with supplies without paying for them. For fear of harm coming to his family and a perceived lack of strength, he never once stood up to such a ruffian. As AJ got older, he could tolerate it less and less. He himself tried to say something. He had grown into an able-bodied tough young man and believed he could take them on. Every time his father would stop him. So AJ turned to other ways to protect his family's business.
He tried to get his hands on a Pokemon. Unfortunately they were rare and few in the area, and he couldn't ever leave too far from the shop. Getting his hands on a Pokeball was tough as well, and he couldn't bring himself to just take one from the store as they were the item with the biggest profit. In the end he managed to charm the young wife of a traveler. In her sympathy she convinced her husband to buy three Pokeballs, and slipped them to the young man. With that done, AJ just needed a Pokemon. Unfortunately, wild Pokemon proved to live up to their reputation of scarcity, and the kindness of strangers only went so far. It was an extremely lucky day for him, when one day, the generator began to act strangely. On checking it out, AJ and his father found that two magnemites had appeared, drawn to their generator, the only source of electricity for miles. Through what he called skill, but what would really be called luck, AJ managed to capture the both of them. Though training them was rough, their supersonic attacks were enough to chase out most thugs.
Although it didn't seem to be much, this protection was just what the business needed. Living became more comfortable, and after a few months the business became stable. Around this time was when AJ's parents decided he should get out get a taste of the world. Taking one of the Magnemite with him, he would go to Pokemon HQ.
Starter Pokemon: Magnemite
AJ let the weight come down onto the rack with a loud clang. As he laid on the bench, regaining his breath, the two Magnemite buzzed around off to the side, taking turns divebombing a dummy made from an old mop and bucket. He sat up and wiped the sweat off his face. He leaned forward, watching the two magnet Pokemon as they tackled the dummy. "That's it just like that. No one's gonna want to mess with the three of us." Although a sustained supersonic attack from the two was usually enough to deter anyone with bad intentions, AJ felt better knowing his Pokemon's strength.
The three stopped as they heard the tinkling of the bell in the front room, alerting them to the presence of a customer. Shortly after they heard the muffled voice of Mr. Indigo attending to them. "Hey maybe that's the family from yesterday? The daughter was pretty cute, huh Jolt?" Jolt was friendlier and mor comfortable with humans than Volt, and was often found in the store following AJ around, curiously watching the customers. Volt usually stayed in the back room. In response to his question, Jolt's magnets rotated a bit faster and it let out a high pitched buzz of approval. The two Pokemon floated over and began to nudge him out the door. "All right, all right," he said laughing, "I'll go see if it's her but I can't go out like this.
AJ quickly walked over to the small sink and splashed cold water on his face. He quickly rinsed his exposed arms and dried himself off with the towel, also wiping off any sweat he had missed. As he turned to head out the door once more, he heard the sound of glass shattering. Jolt and Volt without missing a beat sped out to the front of the store, AJ running close behind them. All the jars had been knocked off a shelf leaving a mess of broken glass and preserved fruit all over the floor. A couple of young punks only a few years older than AJ himself were laughing out loud. "See what happens when you don't cooperate, old man?" they teased AJ's father who was uneasily pleading with them to just leave. The two stopped when they saw AJ. A dark look crossed their faces when they saw the Pokemon. Angry but trying to keep his cool, AJ spoke. "GET OUT." In response, the two each pulled a Pokeball from the pockets. "Well, crap," thought AJ. He'd never had to drive off trainers before.
I cut it off there, because any more would be way more than my average post. I'd about half of the above is average for me. I just got into it.
Ability: Magnet Pull
Summary: Jolt and Volt were found by AJ when after weeks of wandering in the desert they came across the store and its power generator. Jolt is a friendly Pokemon and enjoys the company of humans. Despite seeming so unnatural, it has a clear personality and often shows it has a sense of humor by "laughing" and various things. Jolt is easily excitable and loves to examine new technology. Unfortunately, these two couple with its nature often cause problems, as it sometimes disrupts various electrical devices.
A decade and a half or 15 in layman’s terms
Elsa is a petite girl, standing at only 4’6” and weighing far below the norm for her age range. She has fair and very fragile skin. The smallest of injuries or incidents can cause her body to immediately bruise and/or bleed. She has a small notch scar just below her hair line, but it is rarely made visible. Her hair is a bluish black and medium in length. Her bangs rest just below her thin eyebrows, and she usually clips two thick portions in front of her ears with pink pyrite barrettes. Her eyes are a deep and captivating blue situated on either side of her tiny nose. When she smiles, her thin lips part to reveal small bright teeth. She usually wears a collared dress with sleeves that dangle past her short arms. She compliments it with some sort of simple scarf, a pair of long white dress socks, and tall buckled hiking boots.
Elsa is a mild-tempered and very well-mannered girl. She does not speak directly unless spoken to and tends to remain away from the company of others. When she does speak, her voice is soft and gentle in tone. Her heart is filled with compassion and empathy beyond her years. Because of this, her emotions run rather high and she can often be brought to tears by even the smallest of troubles. She enjoys helping others, especially the elderly, and is seldom ever caught thinking of herself. Her timid nature refrains her from breaking any rules or going outside of her comfort zone. She is afraid of being alone to the point where healing her Pokemon at the center can cause her great distress. She sometimes uses homeopathic remedies to prolong these visits. Elsa is an extremely bright girl, and she values learning in every aspect of life. She is also extremely stubborn, but tries to play it off with her sickly sweet temperament.
Elsa was raised by her grandparents from the age of 5. Her father and mother are adrenaline junkies whose need for excitement and adventure was burdened by the arrival of a child. They lived together in Pyrite Town for 6 years before Elsa’s grandfather decided it was becoming too dangerous. He relocated his family to The Under, where he continued his work as a miner and his wife began learning how to create herbal medicines in the Herb Shop. Elsa was one of the few children living in The Under and sought solace in the company of her grandparents’ elderly companions. They were quiet, like her, but told such fascinating stories about the mine during its prime.
At the age of 12, Elsa began apprenticing in the Herb Shop with her grandmother. Her youthful mind soaked up the techniques and practices like a sponge, and she became quite skilled at making inexpensive medicines for trainers. When The Under was destroyed due to incidents with Cipher, the small family moved into Gateon Port where they currently reside. The heavy traffic of people in the city was not something Elsa adjusted to easily.
Although her grandmother rejoined the workforce in the Pokemart’s Herb Shop, Elsa abandoned the practice and frequented long stays at the edge of the lighthouse on the harbor. Elsa’s grandfather, now retired, spends much of his time in her company. He is enamored by his beautiful and loving granddaughter. They like to fish silently together as newcomers sail into the harbor. Her parents occasionally send her postcards entailing their travels, but it is doubtful that she will ever be reunited with them in the future.
Elsa twirled the ends of her dark hair through her fingers, the strands completely contrasting her white skin. It was mostly quiet in her bedroom as she pondered atop her fluffy mattress. Her Swinub was snoring sweetly at her feet and she brushed his coarse fur with an exposed big toe. His spine tingled in pleasure and Elsa lifted her head to smile at her beloved partner. The light from the moon shone brightly through her rounded window, and she could hear the soft tide coming in along the harbor. She averted her gaze to a fishing rod and small basket in the corner, by the door. The clock on her dresser blinked the early hour in a crimson red. Elsa sighed, I wish you would hurry up, sunrise. Her small figure turned over in the bed and Swinub grumpily protested the absence of her touch. He nosed his way under the sheets and curled soundly under her ribcage.
Elsa stroked his head and giggled as his body vibrated against her. Her mind was full of too many questions and thoughts to sleep any longer. Her deep blue eyes fixated on the wall and she hummed softly in the silence. Her lullaby quickly put Swinub back to sleep as she continued to rhythmically run her hand across his back. The moon continued to reflect proudly on the water’s surface, but was occasionally broken by the ripple of a fish or wandering Tentacool. Elsa yawned and maneuvered her body tighter around Swinub. His small body created a burst of welcoming heat and her lips curved slightly as her eyes closed in sleep.
Ability: Thick fat: Halves damage from type fire and type ice moves
Moves: Tackle, Odor Sleuth, and Mud Sport
Summary: Elsa’s Swinub is almost a complete opposite to her, personality wise. The tiny little ice pig has a brave nature and would do anything in his power to protect his trainer. He was the runt of his litter and sold on an underground Black Market immediately after his birth. Elsa received him on her 9th birthday as a gift from her elusive parents. Swinub comes in handy for Elsa’s grandmother who uses him to sniff out mushrooms and plants needed for her medicines. He has been an asset to the family’s income and survival. Swinub can be reckless in battle, but always strives to please Elsa with his performance. Although he has been raised as more of a “pet”, this little tyke has the heart of a true fighter.
