"The Undead Church, last sanctuary of those who follow the way of the Sun. This structure had been renovated to double as a base of operations one thousand, nine hundred and seven years ago, twenty three years after the Dark Lord's abandonment of the first flame and rise to power. When Lord Gwyn was slain, I had thought that the prophecy of the Flame had finally come to fruition, but alas, it was that corrupt serpent Kaathe who would hold the last laugh over me. In spite of my recollection of years since then, and as I am certain you are aware of, time is not a straight line here. Even more so, the plague of the Dark Lord has further corrupted our world, allowing those who existed many thousands of years apart to stand side by side. I suppose I would be seen as the traitor, as it is the duty of a serpent to serve the Great Lord, no matter which path he chooses. But I cannot bow my head to the Dark with good will. That is why I have summoned the three of you here, Zaccar Allaire, Lawrence of Astora, and Jack Valerance. To make one final stand against the new Dark Lord, return life to the flame, and guide humanity into an everlasting Age of Fire."
Kingseeker Frampt spoke to the three knights before him with an obviously desperate tone, but it was not a voice of one who has given up. After a pause and breath, Frampt looked to the fourth human that stood before him, a crystal plagued sorcerer by the name of Maverous.
"Young sorcerer, I will assume that you understand that the Warriors of Sunlight stand for all of humanity, even those who have not yet worn the title with them. Since you are fond of traveling with one such Warrior, I will grant you the title he wears, and therefore the divinity of the Sun, in the stead of the late Knight Solaire of Astora, and in the name of the late Lord of Fire Gwyn. Do you accept the covenant of the Sun?"
The infinite span of blackness was soothing to the Dark Lord as he rested. The lands of New Londo, Lordran and Anor Londo were solidified under his control, in the palm of his hand. As the Lord of the Dark and a Dark Wraith himself, he was able to traverse the Abyss of Manus without fear of being consumed by it. If anything, the Abyss feared being consumed by him. The peaceful silence was disturbed by the head of a serpent who rose from the darkness.
"Darkstalker Kaathe, what business do you have disturbing me?"
"One thousand apologies, my liege, but I have some information that would please his highness's ear."
"Speak swiftly, serpent."
"M'lord, Astiroth and Sofi have returned from their venture in Oolacile, and claim success, I shall fetch for them immediately so that they may speak on their own behalf."
One nod from the Dark Lord was his only response, and Kaathe's head returned down into the Abyss.
