Rhine Station, a corporate-funded research facility built on Titan in 2021 to survey the moon's core. Rhine Station is an electromagnetic bio-dome that requires no need to terraform the land and no need for an artificial oxygen source. The only thing capable of crossing the electromagnetic barrier surrounding the town are giant creatures we've dubbed as Titans. Further study on the Titans needs to be carried out, as of yet they seem unintelligent, but whether or not they pose any significant danger to us has not yet been established.
[Many generations later]
The last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the gargantuan, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scout Regiment (SR) dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive after protecting the Walls from the impeding and aggressive Titans. By this time, the Titans mercilessly killed several hundred individuals over the years, mostly Scouts. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered.
The Walls were built when humanity started to become extinct at the hand of the Titans and the facility had to be stripped of all technology, all metal and all mortar, in order to build the massive fortified walls around the perimeter of the facility. In response to this looming threat, the humans built high walls to protect their last stronghold. The Walls themselves reach about 50 meters in height and are lined with cannons, they reach five times a human's height below the ground. Just under a year ago, a mysterious ore was mined in Sector 2; Woglinde with properties resembling a plastic and a metal. Many in Flosshilde are looking to relocate to Woglinde to get mining jobs due to this explosion of news, however in order to get a Work Visa for the other sectors, one must have some connection to the Wellgunde higher-ups. Many Scouts join the SR to make a better life for themselves or their families and establish such connections with the hopes that eventually the family will be able to move closer to the center of The Town, where it's theoretically the safest. The Town's one major religion, whose celebrants pray to The Walls, believe each wall to be sacred and holy in its own right. They worship The Wall and have been particularly rowdy lately, spreading doomsday and hopelessness wherever they go, while proselytizing and informing the rest of us that the Wall will surely fall if we let our arrogance and sin overtake our community. The crime rate in The Town is quite low mostly because everyone is in a similar predicament and people try to help each other out, but thievery and wanton murder do happen once in a while.
Little is known about the Titans; giant creatures approximately 20 meters tall, which instinctively attack and devour ordinary humans on sight. However, they are apparently not carnivorous as they do not require meat as sustenance - they do not prey on other animals, even with the long absence of humans - and seemingly gain their energy directly from sunlight. They have hard skin and regenerative abilities, and can only be killed by a deep incision at the base of the neck. This weakness led to the development of the Vertical Maneuvering Equipment (VMEs) allowing humans to navigate quickly in a three-dimensional space. Although it permits great mobility to a skilled user, it carries a large risk of overtaxing the muscles, requiring extensive physical conditioning and agility.
VME (Vertical Maneuvering Equipment) & Technology
Within the VME, a gas cylinder which is used up every time a grappling cable is projected out of the socket. A cable-based-projectile system of pulleys and grappling-hooks designed for rapid vertical and horizontal movement in 3-dimensions.
Technology level: Steampunk/Dieselpunk/Medieval
Time: Approximately the year 2400 our time (~400 years into the future, however all advanced communications such as cellphones/digital communication has been scrapped long ago in order to provide building material for The Walls and other more-urgent resources.)
Medieval handmade weaponry such as swords, katanas, cannons and catapaults, with some more advanced technologies such as the VME, cameras, electronic mining equipment, etc. It's something like Steampunk/dieselpunk technology mixed in with medieval and renaissance weaponry.
Titanbane: To Kill a Titan is one of the greatest feats The Townsfolk can ever accomplish. Each of the 22 Scouts that have killed a Titan in the past are household names and are held in an almost mythical status. Only one of these Titanbane kills is disputed by historians as being a true kill because of the circumstances involved (severing the base of the neck did not occur, instead the Titan drowned.) These powerful warriors are known as 'Titanbane.'
Titans greatly resemble human beings in that they are bipedal creatures with the same number and arrangement of limbs and features one would expect in human beings. They are all deformed by human standards to a greater or lesser degree, ranging from minor abnormalities in proportions (enlarged head, small limbs etc.) to apparently lacking skin and subcutaneous tissues, although they do not bleed from such deformities, indicating that they perhaps possess some other mechanism to compensate for this. All Titans lack sex organs - their method of reproduction is currently unknown. Titans almost universally possess widened mouths with an enormous number of small, square teeth. They apparently do not possess a complete or functioning digestive tract, merely a stomach-like cavity that eventually fills up with what they swallow, forcing them to regurgitate after consuming a certain amount before being able to continue eating more humans they encounter in their rampage.
The Walls-Wall Flosshilde: The outermost wall/3rd concentric ring, actually 51.5 meters tall and estimates say about 10 meters thicker than the 2nd Wall, Woglinde. In between Flosshilde and Woglinde, the largest population of those inside the wall reside in a town bearing the same name as the 3rd wall. The 3rd settlement in order of its construction is the least taken care of and so although everyone is fed and clothed, they live in the least attractive of the 3 settlements. Flosshilde has a bit of a slum-like feel, but has a deep sense of tradition (and largest number of Scout Regiment members) and family. 25% of the population.
-Wall Woglinde: The 2nd wall/2nd central settlement. 50% of the population. however most of the 2nd settlement is a mountainous region. Most of the citizens are farmers or miners and lead a relatively peaceful life, in exchange for having to perform the most physical labor.
-Wall Wellgunde: The last 25% of the population, the denizens of the 1st original settlement, Wellgunde, are the computer-brain of The Town. They perform many government-related duties, including overseeing the Scout Regiment. Food exchange organization and settlement construction are all decided by the Wellgunde workforce; overall they are a well-functioning, but very minimal background government who mostly stays out of the way of its citizens.
The caste system in The Town, in order of most privileged to least would be something like: Wellgunde, The Wall zealots, Scout Regiment, Woglinde, Flosshilde.
SQUAD 3: CASE FILE, SQUAD 3 MEMBER ____
Welcome to Squad 3, comrade. Your commanding officer is Wyatt V. Cassavates. His commanding officer is Squadron Pontiff Marxwell.
You are to survive and protect the citizens of The Town under all circumstances, even if you must give your life for the Greater Good. You are to report immediately to the Armory for debriefing.
Godspeed to your swords,
Pontiff Marxwell, Squadron, Squads 1-3.

Wyatt V. Cassavates
-Amateur demolition expertise. Enough to rig a localized bomb or set projectiles on fire. However, he is substantially better at shooting a gun.
-He is generally an excellent strategist and tactician, however he's not the most serious of people. People gravitate towards him and he has the ability to get others riled up, for better or for worse.
-Natural leadership qualities and high-IQ. Wyatt is a natural born leader and quite authoritative, when he wants to be... He was one of the few recruits who was assigned to lead Squad 3 and eventually rose to Commander status. He has been studying the Titan Phenomena for some time now.
-Extremely unfocused on serious tasks. Procrastinates a lot.
-Abhors taking the scenic route. Gary would much rather rush through any given task as quick as possible, so he can get back to laying on the couch. Given the opportunity, Gary will always take the quickest route possible.
-Not the best in hand-to-hand combat. He is clumsy and slow to react in close quarters, however, his swordsmanship is superb while using the VME.
Weapon: Customary Scout Regiment issued Dual-Swords
Filth. That's what I see when I look at this city. Was it always like this? Something in the back of our minds, and no, I don't mean this ocular implant, it feels like there was a substantially better time in our lives. Now all that's left is the urban decay, the grit and grime of metropolitan miasma.
The Town, a dystopian city on Titan with a network of 3 isolated Settlements, each named for the Wall behind which they seek protection, without the need for direct communication amongst each other. (Although the At the head of The Town's development is the Wellgunde Anteplex, a designated scientific research center and Cortex Via, the core Political sector where the government, you know, meets in a dimly lit room and people of below-average intelligence discuss how to keep stuff from falling apart.
We live in Sector 3; Flosshilde. the air here in our little humble abode leaves something foul and tainted on your breath.
