Escardio was on watch, with the sun beating down on him as he looked around with narrowed eyes, looking for trouble. He wasn't exactly one for keeping the peace, but being hired to protect this place actually paid half-decently. He had only started recently, though, and hadn't gotten any actual payment yet. He knew that if he wanted any actual payment in the future, he'd have to be on his best behavior... Sadly his best behavior wasn't exactly amazing, as an Earth Pony stumbled into him. This didn't hardly even cause the griffon to flinch, though the Earth Pony had fallen onto his flank. He looked up at the griffon, who shook his head. "Watch where your going, pinchazo!" He yelled, as the pony scurried backwards, shaking in fear of the large creature before him. "I-I'm sorry! Please, don't hurt me!"
"Isn't worth the time, or the harm that'd do to my paycheck. Get goin'." Escardio said swiftly, and the Earth Pony galloped away as soon as he managed to his hooves. Escardio sighed, spreading his wings. With a strong flap of his wings, dust kicked up around him as he went up into the sky, landing on a roof soon afterwards. No ponies should ram into him from up here. Much less trouble, and even if Escardio liked trouble, he avoided it when money was involved. He sat down, starring off into the wastes. He wondered something; what was this world like before? He had heard in his travels that it was once a beautiful healthy land that was green and full of trees...
"Bullshit." He muttered, not believing it. Perhaps it was less of a hell... But Escardio doubted it was anything more than that. Anything more would almost make him puke, as a world without violence sounded dull and boring. A world where pegasi didn't get their wings ripped off? Unicorns didn't get their horns sawed? Pain was unheard of, and hate even less? Pfft. No way a world like that existed, ever. Little did he know his thoughts were actually distracting him, as a pegasus was screaming into his ear.
"Hey! Birdbrain! Get your act together, we've got slavers coming from the east!"
"You call me 'Birdbrain' again, and I'll rip out your voice box, hembra." Escardio commented before standing up, paying attention, He glanced at his weapon that was on his back, before asking; "What's the numbers?" His question was soon answered by the pegasus. "At least two dozen! They've got armor and guns, we'll have our hooves full. Get ready, I'll spread the word!" With that, the pegasus flew off and began calling out to anypony that'd listen. "Slavers are coming! Civilians, grab your guns or hide, this is going to get plenty messy!"
Hopping down from the roof and landing onto the ground, Escardio couldn't help but chuckle. "This is going to be fantastic! Finally gonna get some action!" He cried out, though he became mildly more serious as he glanced around. "Mierda! Where's the rest of this little town? Gotta be somepony who has some balls!" He commented, as shots started ringing from the east. Sounds like they were arriving earlier than expected. "And so the party gets started." He spoke darkly, barely hovering into the air. Just high enough to where he didn't require his legs to keep steady as he grasped his Thompson with his talons bringing it from it's holstered state on his back to in his talons in front of him, keeping close to a building as he noticed a pegasus scout flying overhead. "Bienvenidos al partido, amigo!" He shouted as he opened fire. The pegasus glanced down as he heard the voice, only to get hit by a small burst of bullets that connected with his armor. The damage wasn't fatal, but it was enough to knock the pegasus to the ground.
Escardio took advantage of this, and holstered his gun onto his back mid-flight, bolting towards the pegasus, who's pupils shrunk at the sight of the hulking beast coming at him. As Escardio came within range, he grabbed the pony's face and slammed it down into the dirt, letting out a terrifying cry. "You picked the wrong town to attack, my friend!" He shouted as the pony attempted to buck him with his hindlegs, to no success as Escardio's talons had began digging into the pegasus' poor face, making him cry out in pain as the sharp talons easily tore into his exposed face. Escardio slashed the pegasus multiple times, before he heard gunfire from behind. He pushed himself off his bleeding and badly injured target and into the air, glancing back and noticing some of the other slavers had arrived. He saw an Earth Pony aiming at him with a pistol, and flew off to find cover. Sadly the best he found was a wagon, but it held up enough to keep the bullets from hitting him. "For the love of... Where the hell is everypony else?!" He questioned irritably, wondering how many of these ponies died. Was he alone already? More for him to kill, but he'd rather continue on not being full of holes, and a little help would certainly help with that. Of course, gunfights were probably breaking out all over the small settlement as he sat there and readied himself to assault his attackers.
