He tried to ignore her confusion over something at her waist and that she wasn’t giving into the urge to kiss him either… but he tried to block that out and instead listened to her words. Breathe in the crisp refreshing air, as he let her words not spoken to him sink in. Ari shifted away as to pretend not to listen in to her conversation; instead he let his eyes rest on the cement with his feet moving slowly in a circle as his ears concentrated on her voice. Ari had turned back towards her by the time she had placed a delicate hand on his chest, his eyes intent on her face.
The sensation flooded back to him, a buzz that his sunken cheeks, and eyes lined with black circles thought he would never feel again. A small side smile crept to his lips. A number of other things happened within the following minutes but Ari was paying no mind, and when her hand left his chest, a hand lifted up to cup over the place she had touched, his eyes drawn down in confusion as to why his hand immediately replaced hers. It hadn’t occurred to him but he had been holding his breath, and when Ellanor yelped out “Wait” his eyes lifted back to her face. He watched as she spoke hurridly.
“You better,” he said as he was about to step forward, but she had already taken a number of steps back, and instead he stayed put. Thankfully she returned in a flurry with a small peck on his cheek, sending a rush of emotions soaring to his head. That was the feeling that he was left to return to work with, his boss stopped over to get the scoop on what was going on, and noted that he preferred such incidents did not occur, but Ari’s mind was all over now. Instead he would go talk to Niki, some things had to come to an end, and really should never have begun in the first place. He setup a ‘date’ with Niki, and continued through his work day – regardless that it was dragging, so he left early.
The first stop was Niki’s. When a few knocks at the door were ignored he tried the doorknob, and went in when he discovered it was unlocked. Sprawled on the floor was a trail of crimson colored rose petals. Ari looked at his watch, and he was right on time. He mumbled a ‘Fuck’ to himself as he rolled his eyes. He followed the trail less than enthused with his shoes still on, and a grim look on his face. Ari found himself in her bedroom, a naked Niki laid across the bed, candles lit, music on, and a flowery scent in the air. Niki laid there a moment with a smirk on her face, as she crawled to the end of the bed in the same sultry mood as the room had been set up. When her eyes caught wind of his mood the smile slid away.
“Baby what is it?” she slid off the bed taking a step towards him.
“Don’t,” he said coldly, “I didn’t mean this as a date, I-,” he stammered, “I wanted to talk. I guess I have something I want to talk to you about.”
“What?” her perfect brows crunched downward. A mix of concern and horror flashed across her features. He hated that he could read her so well, that she was simple a toy, a warm, sexually appealing toy to him.
“I don’t think I can love you, I mean, physically you make me happy, and you are great company but, this isn’t going where you want it,” he said slowly, quietly.
“I can make you forget, that’s enough, one day you will lov-,” she whispered back as she lifted a hand to his chest running it upward, but her words were cut short.
“No,” he said abruptly nearly yelling at her, “I wish, but no Niki, this is done. We can’t be together, I’m sorry, okay?”
She lifted a hand and within moments it was across his face, a loud smack sounded, and Ari flinched at the contact, “I deserved that.”
“What the fuck is going on Ari?” she moved across the room her hand latching onto a robe.
“This isn’t new Niki, you just didn’t want to admit it to yourself,” Ari’s eyes fell to the carpet, the lovingly spread petals.
“You know the way out,” she said harshly as she slammed the door to her bathroom.
Ari didn’t waste a moment; instead he fled the house with the throbbing red mark on his cheek. At least that had been all she had allowed him to leave with.
Shortly after Ari pulled up to the building he had never seen before. The address had been acquired months prior, before he had planned on leaving, he had done a little research just in case he had grown a pair, and decided on seeing her or trying to fix things. After paying the cabby, he got out, and headed up the building to her apartment number. The place was nice, no real door security, but that was okay, it made him coming there as a surprise easier. Ari rounded a corner and was faced with her door number. He let out a deep sigh, knowing it was the right choice, but unsure if he was truly ready to open himself up in that way. He brushed the emotions away, and knocked on the door. He had heard the voices inside before, but he didn’t know who it could be, or if it was a bad time – he just knew that he needed to see her. He needed to know that what he had done with Niki was right, and that he hadn’t just fucked himself further.
He heard shuffling behind the door and stopped glancing down the halls, when he was met with a face he let a nervous smile rise to his lips, “Hey.”
The man looked similar to him, a ghost of what he was before. Though the reasons behind this mans features were different than Ari's. Ari was neglecting his needs, while this guys appeared to be recovering from a different sort of neglect. Still Ari could see the resemblance.
"Sorry if this is a bad time, I'm Ari, and I'm looking for Ellanor?"
