The Story of King Arthur is known to everyone, but what really happened? Was Arthur the great king of legend we all think him to be, or was he a mortal man, with his own flaws and imperfections? And who were his Knights? Lancelot, Galahad and the others are just as famous as their king, but millenia and translation may have obsured who they really are. And what of Mordred? The stories say that he is a monster, but was he truly? Sit down, and I shall tell you the tale as it really was.
Essentially, this is an RPG where the players will take the role of the Knights of the Round Table. You can either create your own knight (or peasant, lady, priest or what have you) or play one of the established ones, such as Lancelot, Gawain and Kay. As knights, you will go on quests, battle monsters, duel other knights and serve your realm and your king. The game will start off immediatly after young Arthur pulls Excalibur from the stone and sets the realm against itself. The players can either be boyhood friends of Arthur or knights later recruited by him.
In the beginning, the realm is at a state of Civil War. King Uther united the land, but when he died, all of the lords under him immediately started squabbling among themselves. With Arthur's emergence as Uther's heir, the squabbling has moved on into open warfare. In the south, Arthur and his few supporters secure their power base, while two factions in the north, one under King Urien of Rheged and the other of King Lot of Orkney war with each other.

SpoilerName: King Arthur Pendragon
Occupation: Squire and King of England
Description: Light brown hair, stubble, tall and gawky
Personality: Naive, in over his head, but strong willed and foolishly brave.
Weapons: Excalibur, a suit of hand-me-down armor from his adopted father Sir Ector
Relations: Sir Ector (Surrogate Father), Sir Kay (Surrogate Brother), Merlin (Mentor)
History: The bastard son of Uther Pendragon, Arthur was raised by Sir Ector, who taught him the basic principles of knighthood. When Arthur accidently pulled the sword Excalibur from the Stone (placed their by Uther in his dying moments) he sets the land on a course for civil war, with various lords throwing their lots with either him or his chief rival, King Lot of Orkney.
Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon, received the blessing of the Lady of the Lake, as well as the sword Excalibur, when he made a deal with Merlin. Uther would conquer the realm, but his first born son would be given to Merlin. Uther agreed and brought the entirety of Britain under heel, but was mortally wounded during an ambush. Merlin, honoring the deal, took the infant Arthur and placed him under the care of Sir Ector.
At first glance, the sword appears to be normal, even plain looking. But when held in the grips of it's rightful owner, it glows a faint white and hums quietly. In battle, the sword cuts a mighty swath and makes a mockery of even the hardest armor. It will be strong so long as Arthur is strong and will help the Squire King remake the realm into one of peace and fellowship. This sword was once used by Uther Pendragon, a brash but valorous king. When he fell, he used the last of his strength to drive the sword into a heavy and deep seated stone. There it stayed for 17 years, until it was pulled by the young Arthur.
