Imagine riding a bicycle, just the right size for you, in a peaceful afternoon, the pleasant breeze blowing on your face, the sun lighting up the sky not too brightly, but not too dimly either. There isn’t much traffic, making it easy to go around. A perfect day for cycling, isn’t it? Especially when it’s your day off. Don’t you just want to relax and feel the wheels grinding on the asphalt? It feels like all your problems just start disappearing, like a nostalgic euphoria being sent to every inch of your mind and body, as if you were a kid again, as if you didn’t have a single care in the world.
Now, imagine yourself slumped on the asphalt in the streets you were cycling on just a while ago, the bicycle you were just riding on all bent up and destroyed beyond repair just a few feet away from you, a pool of blood developing around you, a sharp pain in your head, as if it’s cracked open, and your life flashing before your eyes. When you turned your head to the right, you saw a car’s front bumper, all bloodied and dented, with its headlights broken as shards of glass scattered around you, before you finally blacked out.
It was totally unexpected, wasn’t it? You couldn’t have possibly anticipated something like that happening. You were too busy taking it easy and enjoying life that you completely disregarded the fact that a reckless driver was about to run you over. But… what if I told you that you could get a second chance? What if you had the chance to redo the last ten minutes before the accident happens? Will you take this chance, knowing full well that you're going to have to earn your right to live again by fighting a harsh and bloody battle?
The Reapers' Game is a one-week competition in which those who have died may participate. Each potential participant is approached shortly after their passing and is given the choice by the Reaper. Games usually take place weeks apart, but sometimes games can be held two times in a row, and in rare instances, three times. Every contestant is called a Player and is given a player pin as a sign of his or her entry. To enter in the game every player has to pay an 'entry fee', that is taken by the conductor. The player pin lets the holder read the mind of any person not carrying a player pin (with some exceptions like the reapers), an ability called "Scanning".
Every Player must give up whatever is dearest to them in order to participate. This entry fee can be physical, such as mementos or people, or more physical or immaterial such as one's appearance, dreams, or memories. Players are also provided with pins that allow them to use psychs, which can be used depending on the Imagination the player has, or the player's true intentions.
At the beginning of a game, each player must forge a Pact with another player to prevent Noise from attacking them and to be able to use psychs. Each player pairing must then survive seven days or be erased in the process. Missions are orders given by the Reapers to players on a day-to-day basis, but they can be issued over a longer period (a six day mission, for example), or not be issued at all .
Players are the people who play in the Reapers' Game. The players are chosen by the Reapers after they die in the Realground. They are moved into Shibuya's Underground, which implies they can see events in the RG, yet cannot be noticed by any person there.
Their objective is to accomplish every mission that is sent to them (customarily, time-limited and one per day) and to survive the Noise which are summoned by their enemies, the Reapers, for one week. Reapers are not ordinarily allowed to attack players unless the Conductor or another high-ranking Reaper individual puts Shibuya on "Emergency Call".
Reapers are a type of administrator in the Game. They are identified by the black wings on their back, which are a manifestation of their supernatural powers.
Reapers are recruited from Players who have survived previous runs of the game. Any such player, provided they are strong enough, may choose to become a Reaper if they wish.
Reapers are able to move between the Realground and the Underground without anybody really noticing. While on the RG, reapers do not possess their wings and cannot use their powers. Reapers are permitted to live normal lives on the RG within certain constraints, although they must report for duty in the UG whenever required. The lifespan of a Reaper is determined by the number of Players they successfully Erase (their "Score"). Reapers can also be Erased by players as part of the game. A new Reaper has around a 2 week lifespan in which to erase their first Player. The majority of Reapers are eventually erased before they can rise very high in the organization, either directly by Players or by their lifespan running out.
Noise are a race of beings, summoned physical forms of Soul bound to a Pin, incarnated between the Underground and Realground planes of Shibuya. Because they straddle the border between the two planes, they are able to exact an influence in both, being physically present in the Underground, while capable of influencing people's thought in the Realground, typically resulting in negative emotions on the victim's behalf.
Noise take on the form of an animal or mythical creature, colored in a wide variety of palettes. It is worth mentioning that the Noise at least has a part of its body lined with or replaced with a tattoo-like patterns.
Psychs are a form of weapon used to erase or defend against the Noise and, to some extent, the Reapers. They usually come in the form of a pin, but they could also take on other forms. The strength of one's psych is determined by one's Imagination. Thus, by analyzing it, the user's Imagination-or rather, their true intentions-are revealed.
Psychs come in various forms depending on what the pin represents. Examples include a burning trail of fire, shooting energy balls, telekinesis, and so on.
The story takes place in modern Shibuya, one of Tokyo's three major subcenters, along with Shinjuku and Ikebukuro. From the statue of Hachiko that serves as its symbol to the tangle of streets and stores that call out to a sea of young people, Shibuya pulls together music, recreation, fashion, food, and sports from far and wide–from within Japan and beyond its borders–and spins the hordes of people and scores of ideas into a chaotic broadcast of culture.
1. I am the Producer, and I shall see to it that all these rules be carried out properly.
2. Standard RP rules apply (No Godmodding, Meta-RPing, R-18, and the like).
3. This is a Casual RP, so each of your posts must have a minimum of two paragraphs.
4. If your character is going to die, your character is going to die. No Deus Ex Machina (unless you're the Composer). This isn't SAO.
5. Above rule doesn't necessarily mean you're out of the RP for the specific week. You can make a new character participating in that week.
6. Should players live through until the end of the week, they have four choices:
- Be brought back to life
- Accept death and accept erasure
- Opt to become a reaper
- In extremely rare cases, when a player does exceptionally good in the Reapers' Game, he or she can be taken to the higher plane and be made an angel, by choice of the player.
7. For the Reapers, they have two weeks to survive before being erased. To sate the hunger of the long-living Reaper OCs, I shall allow minor Players to be erased by Reapers, much like Noise being erased by Players. That means, "NPC Players" can be erased by Reapers whenever they want. I'll set the limit as to how many NPC players are present for the week though. But their gender, appearance, and dialogue, I leave them to you guys.
Reaper CS:HTML Code:Name: (Should mostly be, but not limited to, Japanese.) Age: (Around 10-21 will do great. Any more or less, it depends on how good the CS is.) Gender: Appearance: (Pic not required, but highly recommended.) Personality: (First, two quotes that your character would most likely say. Then, give them good and bad traits, strengths and weaknesses, blessings and curses. Nobody's perfect but nobody's pure evil either.) Biography: (Your character's past life and the events that lead to his or her death.) Likes: Dislikes: ---------- Cause of death: (Has to be either accidental or murder. Sickness gives you enough time to prepare for death, and suicide means you fully accept death.) Entrance fee: (Something your character held dearest in order to participate in the Reapers' Game. Could be physical possessions like a memento of some sort, or intangible things like memories, emotions, appearance, or the like.) Psyche: (If you're going for the multiple pins type, list six. If you're going for a specific item type, like a plush toy, cellphone, or skateboard, list it here. It's still controlled by a pin though, so list it down too.)
HTML Code:Name: (Should mostly be, but not limited to, Japanese.) Age: (I'm gonna give a bit more freedom on this one. As long as it's a reasonable age.) Gender: Appearance: (Pic not required, but highly recommended.) Personality: (Same as in Player CS. Can reflect heavily on why they decided to join the reapers, but a shy moe reaper isn't really out of the question!) Biography: (Their past lives and their lives as players. Can also include their current lives as RG dwellers.) Likes: Dislikes: ---------- Reaper Rank: (Support Reapers give objectives to the players in order to pass a certain area. Harrier reapers act independently and need to set obstacles for or erase players from time to time. GM Reapers are the ones who give an objective each day in the week the game takes place in, and so far, I only need 2 more GMs.) Abilities: (Other than being able to create noise, what else can they do?) Reaper age: (Can range from a few weeks to a year.)
Hey guys! Welcome to TWEWY: A Second Chance!
Co-GMs are heirofmind and Haru Nyan, so treat them with respect along with me. Actually, screw that, treat everyone with respect.
I'm still not quite done with the OOC yet, but I'd rather put it up now so everyone could get started with their characters.
Post your CS here. I'll put it up here on the first post once you've finished it.
Each member can create a maximum of two Players and one Reaper.
If you guys happen to have an idea for a possible Composer acting as a Player, PM me. Wouldn't want to let the others know which of the Players is the Composer, would we?
I guess that's all there is for now. Any questions and clarifications, just ask.
Also, sprites are not required but highly recommended.
Well, we have enough members to start, but I'll leave one slot open just in case.
