Marietta “Captain Mary” Cologne
Marietta stands a mere 5'5", and a lean muscular build of 125 lbs. She has long brown hair and warm hazel eyes. Her skin is tanned from the sun but not overly so thanks to the hat with a bright red feather she often wears. She has delicate facial features and a bright smile that could make you ignore the various little white scars on her hands, arms, and throat from battle.
As pictured for the most part.
pistol sword, flintlock pistol, sabre, smoke bombs, dagger, grenados
some girly items (soap, tiny perfume bottle, coal for eye liner, etc), flask she actually has full of water most of the time, compass, gun powder, flint stone, all mostly carried in a leather satchel tied to her hip
Mary is rather rough around the edges, as she has to be being a woman pirate. She is actually a very pleasant person and can carry on a long, laughing conversation with almost anyone. She can also drink and tell dirty jokes with the best of them, and yet stay feminine when wanting something or wooing a man. Her only goal in life has been and will ever be, to be a pirate. She has a love of the lifestyle and has a stubbornness that won’t let her give it up. She has selfish motivations for getting out of Gills Reef, but it doesn’t sit right with her to leave behind anyone she knows either.
Marietta grew up along the docks of a seaport town, awaiting the day her father would return. Her mother told her he was a merchant at sea and so young Mary waited patiently her whole young life. While along the edge of these waters she ran into quite a few surly characters, and learned what a pirate was. The first time she saw one, he was greasy and snarling, being led away in cuffs, but all the while proclaiming he had lived a life of freedom. This intrigued Mary more than anything. This… freedom. As she grew older, she realized her father was never coming home, and began to question whether or not he was a pirate. Determined to follow her own fate she snuck aboard a pirate ship that had attacked her home late at night, stowing away at the age of 13. She was of course discovered, but the young captain was intrigued himself by her and let her stay. She did not go unpunished, having to take on cleaning duties and then eventually kitchen duties as she was a handy cook. She eventually won the captain’s favor even more and began imploring him to teach her how to be a pirate. Privately, and later not so privately, he taught her. She learned how to use a gun and sword, how to pillage and deceive. How to do whatever the hell she wanted. Years went by and she was never promoted to a high station, more than likely because of her gender, but her Captain was killed in a battle that almost took the ship. When the second mate took over, always jealous of Mary, he dropped her off at the nearest port and sailed away. Determined was always something she was though, and Mary established a crew under the ruse of having a boat, only to use this crew to steal one. This boat eventually became The Spider’s Web, the boat she most famously captained as the sea’s most secretive and slippery female pirate. Though she had a few years of infamy and more freedom to be who she truly was, when resting at Gills Reef the attack happened. She managed to survive, but her crew was another story. She’s not one to work under any other pirate since she had captained her own ship, but knows the only way to Calypso’s Cave is with the help of any other pirates, captains or just seamen.
