Hello, I'm Draco, I've been on RPG Guild for about a year and a half as of this posting. In that time, I've made a lot of friends, as well as become an overall better writer. I joined RPG Guild in the summer of 2012, not long after I first got my smartphone and was looking for something to take up free time in the car. I first made my account while on a vacation but didn't actually join a roleplay until I got home, Although the people in that RP are no longer active, they showed me how great the RPG guild community is. I would like to say thank you to anyone reading this who I have or perhaps someday will RP with.
However, this thread isn't about my time on RPG, this about me as a whole. I am not normal by any stretch of the imagination. This is going to be as detailed of an explanation of myself as I can manage, and also a sort of Q/A thread, if you have anything to ask about me.
First and foremost, the name's pronounced Drah-coe-nil-ee-ahn. Draco for short, and not, under any circumstances "Dracon" which is just silly and makes no sense. The name comes from a combination of the Order Crocodilia and the Draco constellation. I've had it as long as I can remember and it's never been used by anybody else. So if you see it anywhere else that's me. Be sure to say hi!
So, if you can't tell, Dragons are sort of my thing. They're my favorite creatures to RP as, it's in my name, my avatar (which changes frequently but is always going to be Dragon-related) and my identity. Though I'm externally human like anyone else, I am a Dragon Otherkin. What does that mean? Well, in the short form, I am for all intents and purposes, a Dragon living in a human body.
No this isn't some sort of Meta Roleplaying thing, or a troll, a hoax, or indeed false in any form. I do genuinely believe this and have for years. Otherkin is a term that has floated around the internet for well over a decade now, referring to anybody who identifies internally as something other than human. There are Dragons, Vampires, Angels, Wolves, Sharks, Bats, Faerie, Elf, Cat, and Chimera Otherkin. As well as anything you can imagine. As a sidenote, Otherkin who identify as actual creatures usually prefer the term "Therian" but I'll just use 'Kin as an umbrella term.
I know, this all sounds like made up, fantasy wish fulfillment. That doesn't stop us from believing in it. Depending on who you ask, we're either all delusional, trolls, a kind of cult, or just people with a weird spirituality. I may be a little biased, but I say it's the latter.
Now this isn't necessarily common, if I had to make up numbers I would say about 0.0001% or less of humanity would identify as something other than human. For the most part, outside of the Internet, you can't tell. We all look and act, mostly or entirely normal. It's practically a required survival trait. As far as the internet goes, Otherkin are at varying stages of "outness" in public places such as this forum. For the most part, it would be the occasional joke or one-liner relating to whatever they identify as. I take it pretty far, I go out of my way to spread the knowledge with as many people as I can. As you can clearly see.
There is a lot more to it, about myself and everything I believe. Feel free to ask questions here in a respectful manner please. Just cause I have very non-mainstream beliefs doesn't mean I should be a magnet for disrespect.
