well I would like to claim that I do have a rp site, but, I havn't advertised it here, and I plan to role play here (as i've started one joining my first hour xD) but I also like to role play on other sites too..so mayabe that was my mistake for posting about a certain role play before >>; sorry, I didn't realize that was disturbing, and I don't happen to have my avatar up because this is not my computer at the moment. x3

You know... I think advertisements should be welcomed after X amount of legitimate posts. I've found that this works very well in the forums I've run in the past.

Now I agree that people who advertise things like Viagra and porn should most definitely be banned on the spot, but if you're advertising a personal project that you think this community would appreciate, I don't see what harm there is in something like that, providing they remain as active members.

The advertising rule is mostly for those that only come here to advertise. They pretty much get an automatic ban as soon as one of us mods become aware of them.

For established members of the community it tends to go by a case by base basis. Things like personal sites tend to get through so long as nothing is being solicited. Things have been 'advertised' by members before, basically if you're not sure a link will pass scrutiny, its best to go to a mod and ask first.

Like any successful website, we get a lot of people that try to siphon off of our userbase to build their own communities. We don't appreciate people taking advantage of our community and the work we put into maintaining it.

However, this isn't a business and I don't consider other roleplaying websites as "competition". In fact, roleplaying as an interest is dying and I'm all for the expansion of roleplaying websites. RoleplayGateway.com is a good one with a much larger community than the Guild.

As Gat said, we will remove users and universally censor their website if they are here just to siphon our own users. Beyond that, if you're an active member, we don't mind you spreading the word about your own websites. I'm not interested in "trapping" people here by hiding the fact that there may be websites out there that better cater to their interests.

Just please drop me a PM when you decide to leave with some suggestions on how to make the Guild a better place.

Me? Leave RpG? are you INSANE?! XD [no seriously, my computer is so crap it can't handle graphics so this, Dragcave and Gpxplus are about the only places i ever visit!!! though i'm getting a new one soon.]

Admittedly, I'm an advertiser. I'm also someone who just wants to RP, whether it is here(I already do am trying) or in other sites(the ones in my sig).

The difference between me and the advertisers you described is that A: I advertise through my sig and not by bugging people. B: I come here mainly to RP, the advertising is a "side-job" of mine.

Not excuses, but just me attention-pulling to try and get people to join the afore-mentioned sites in my signature.
