Chasing Shadows

[Blue-Eyed Vampyre]

Lena nodded and followed, her eyes searching for the man she'd just seen. Why was he looking at her like that? It gave her the creeps, and not many things freaked her out.

"Sain?" She said softly. "I need to find a place to change" She gestured to her blood stained apparel.

Merchants and peasants passed them in the streets, glancing at the three odd figures as they passed. Sain, a darkly cloaked mysterious figure standing beside a smaller darkly cloaked figure, Alex, and Lena with her clothes spotted with blood. “How hard is it to kill a demon, Sain?” Alex inquired, knowing close to nothing about demons and how to get rid of them. Hell, she wasn’t even sure if she had ever even seen a demon.

The blood on Lena’s shirt was making her head swim dizzily, and she stepped away a few feet to breath in fresh air. It disappointed her that she was this tempted by a small blood spill, and it scared her that she nearly just lost control of herself. What would have happened if the blood scent got the best of her and she had attacked Lena, who had been so kind to her? She would never forgive herself.

“What do…demons…look like?” She continued to ask questions, obviously struggling internally against something. Yes, lets find her a place to change…quickly. She thought to Sain, and even her voice in his head spoke in small gasps.

"All demons are different, ALex." he said as he gazed around the market. He spotted a darkened alleyway and started towards it, "Demons are monsters, but they can take any form, in hopes to get closer to their prey. Always be wary. They are very devious and some are near impossible to kill." He stopped at the entrance to the alley and closed his eyes for a moment, concentrating on the darkness.

"You can change in there. It is safe. I will protect your privacy." Sain said, turning his back to the alley. He stretched his wings slightly so they blocked all entrance and view into the Alley and pulled one back to allow her to pass.

"They're shopping clothes. Nothing suspicious."said the man after casting a Clairvoyance spell. The holy magic showed him a clear picture of them. The girl was jumping around impatiently, improving her balance. The man suddenly started to grin. The girl gestured a question.
"Oh, nothing. Really." said a man with a bigger grin on his face. "When was the last time i saw something like this?"
The girl showed a confused face and asked him again what he saw.
"The other girl is changing clothes." said the man smiling but then he realized it wasn't a good idea. The girl kicked him in the stomach so hard, he lost concentration and the magic dispelled, then she walked away irritated.
"Geez, always jealous ." said and started walking in the cover of the houses, keeping an eye on the vampire-party.

Lena changed quickly, throwing her bloodied clothes into a corner of the alleyway. Somethings wrong" She thought to herself. Someone's watching us.

Lena glanced around the alley, and seeing no one, her unease grew.

She quickly reattached her sword to her belt and walked up to Sain. "Something's not right," She said quietly. "I feel like we're being watched."

"I am sorry. I didn't think of warding against spells." he said, turning to her, "I will be mindful of it in the future. If you are ready, I would like to get going." He lifted his massive Scythe on his shoulder and let the blade hang between his wings behind him. The chain hung to about a foot above the ground. He turned, fanning a few pieces of paper from the top of a trash can with his wings. Alex still remained attached to his side.

While Lena changed her clothes Alex had a growing feel of unease in her stomach. She felt as if someone was spying on them, but she shrugged this off and didn’t worry much about it. However, when Lena mentioned something about this feeling as well…she grew curious and wondered why someone would have a reason to watch them.

A single feather floated down in front of Alex after Sains wings had knocked over little scrap pieces of trash. Quickly she reached out, snatching the soft white feather from the air and brushing it against her smooth cheek. She noticed that if she looked up at Sains face a certain way over the rim of her sunglasses; she could slightly see the red in his eyes through the shadows his hood cast over his face. She shivered, hoping that one day she’ll get used to them.

“Yeah, we should keep traveling.” She agreed, but then thought without thinking twice that Sain could probably hear. Maybe I’ll be able to go hunting if we get far enough from those two back at the tavern. Of course, she was unaware that ‘those two’ were actually keeping a close eye on her.

Sain returned to the tavern, stopping only to retrieve his horse and lift Alex onto the saddle. He tied the bag of clothes to it's side and lead it out towards the outskirts of the town, with Lena walking beside him.
"We are being watched." Sain said, "No matter. We have nothing to hide." The church loomed overhead and the doors were boarded. Regardless he tied the horse and walked up the steps. Alex started to get down, but a stray thought from Sain made her pause.
"It could be dangerous." he thought, "You may want to stay here. There is alot of blood."

[Silent Shadow]

A child; if you could call her that; about the age of fifteen sat behind a stretch of wall that covered the door to another room in the church. It was a good place to hide. Then she heard voices. Her dull gray eyes darted about looking for whom the voice belonged to. Her tan skin was now covered with blood from trying to clean it. Her gold hair too was covered in blood same as her all with clothes the priest the day before had given her to wear. It was a plain white shirt with white pants and sandels. Now though it was covered in blood. She tried with all her might to try and hides inside the wall. She had been lucky to not get caught by the person that killed the boy. She had wanted to go and try to help but this feeling got the best of her and she didn't even know what the feeling was.

She rode behind Sain towards the outskirts of the town, and then they arrived at the church. Alex blinked, surprised that they were already there. She had expected to maybe travel a few days to the church’s location, not a mere half of a mile away.

When Sain made her pause on top of the horse she frowned, not liking the idea of being left outside. The sun was annoying, but she knew that she would survive with her sunglasses and new cloak (thanks to Lena). After he spoke of blood she realized that she could actually smell it in the lingering air around the church even though they were outside.

“Well…alright, hurry though please.” She stated, slipping off the horse and moving to the animal’s head to give it a gentle pat. It was good that Sain was there to look after her. If she had walked in on a blood-bath scene, she might have lost control, since she is so young, and attached one of them.

“Be careful…I sense someone in there.” Alex informed Lena and Sain, looking up at the large church suspiciously.
