I love the idea. Count me interested.
Why list doppelganger (natural) and doppelganger (human) as separate roles, though? Won't a doppelganger character be able to move between both?
"There's something you should know about doppelgangers: We're killers. Of people, that is. We prey on your race—stalking you, watching your moves, the places you go, learning the patterns of your life. Then, when we think we've got it down, we find a nice quiet corner to strangle you in and take over."
~Doppelganger by David Stahler Jr.
In this world there are two main species, doppelgangers who, in their natural forms, have mottled, almost transparent flesh, bulging eyes, and a face with only slits for a nose and mouth and your simple, ordinary humans. Our free-roam story will take place in a large city (think New York) which is heavily populated with people and, unknowingly, doppelgangers that are either stalking humans or already in control of a body, but it could be possible that somebody will discover these beings, either by discovering the true body or by noticing slight difference of the doppelganger versus the orginial. In addition, doppelgangers cannot hold one form to longer than a few weeks, two months at the best, so they need to be able to jump from human to human. However, they are able to adjust every aspect of their life from their appearance to their gender, although most prefer not to do so, which makes it easy for them to become another person, once they kill them of course.

True, but I meant I was going accept either one as a starting character. In other words, you didn't have to be in a human form nor did you have to be in the natural form. Also, dopplegangers in natural forms will require some altered thinking because they don't have names, but they do have their own personality.
It'll definitely change people's writing style, at the very least. I think it'll be a fun challenge.
What types of character have you planned on introducing?

Im in.
So...Do you have any certian solid plot..?
A Chuck Norris fact:

Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.
@HITTWF: What do you mean?
@general kane: Sorry, but I don't have a solid plot. However, I was thinking of making it school-centered while carrying aspects of normal life such as they go home or hang out off campus after school instead of having a dorm, making it a little bit of a free-roam while making sure that the people who join know the original version of the character (friends, parents, teachers, enemies, etc)
No protagonist or antagonist in particular that you've got at the ready? Doesn't matter if their isn't, I'm merely curious.

@HITTWF: No, I don't have any true pro- nor antagonists for this set-up.
I thought this would be abi of a Crime/drama...you know since the setting is in the Big apple and all.!

Well, it's not exactly the Big Apple, just a city the same size. In addition, you can create your own antagonists be they human or doppelganger.
