That picture is absolutely gorgeous, Kendra! You've definitely achieved the wistful, lusty look! I love how you captured the image, it doesn't even look posted - just natural, which makes it even better. And that eye make up is fantastic, did you do it yourself?

Thank you for the kind words, Kally! =) I'm happy to see you in this thread again. The post processing was just color adjustments, the rest is virtually untouched. =)

Anyhoo, back on topic, I love the rainbow shirt. It's the first thing that catches my eye. The way her makeup was done compliments it perfectly, and it looks lovely. Another great job done~

Thank you! I felt bad for her, because she was spending over an hour on her eyeshadow alone, because I kept having her change it to add more color. I think it was worth it in the end!

Oh I like that dress she is wearing. It suits her.

We had to do some last minute stitching to get it to work, as the dress had a big tear in it. Managed to make it work!

Snow White II

Model & MUA: Miki Sarroca

After working on an actor's headshot for a paid gig, I had some time to work on a personal photograph. I wanted to go for a slightly unnatural look to this one, to go with the fairy tale feel. I wanted a colder color palette as well to allow the viewer to interpret this version of Snow White in any fashion they wanted.

Feedback and comments are much appreciated and their providers adored!

The look in her eyes is what intrigues me the most. They could be almost wild or evil or something that looks like "Hey Princey. Let's go back to your castle and you can do more than just kiss me." The way the wind is blowing her hair adds a cool effect too.

However, if it weren't for the dress that was the same as the last Snow White photo or even the label, I wouldn't have guessed it even was Snow White. It looks almost like a normal (meaning in casual clothes or something like that) photo that the dress was just kind of added in last minute.

Feel the face is a bit over exposed, but that might have been what you were going for, certainly see how it could be argued with the cartoonish fantasy, skin-as-white-as-snow thing. Defiantly like the choice of lip color. Feel the background could be pushed more to the fantasy element.

Thanks for the comment. I did too tight of a crop on this portrait, so it didn't quite show how non-casual the dress is, haha. It's definitely a fairy tale Princess looking getup.

Thanks a bunch, Kally. <3 Now that I have my own house and a guest bedroom, Miki's going to be visiting and we'll have plenty more collaborations.

Yeah, I wanted to overexpose a little to make it a little more surreal, but the lighting itself wasn't done perfectly, so I'll need to watch out for that in the future. I confess my photoshop skills are lacking, so I haven't gotten much into editing backgrounds at all yet. That's going to be something I'll have to start working on.

Vintage Glam II

I apologize for the lack of updates, I've been in the process of moving into my first home, and it's been quite a hassle. I'm about 80% done and currently living in it, so soon enough I'll be back on my feet and able to do more photoshoots. In the meantime I revisited a previous photoshoot and worked with some black and white.

Okay, first off the dress and the look on her face is pretty. I always love those shots where the background is looking slightly out of focus, but the foreground is sharp and clean and demands the attention of the viewer.

The black and white doesn't strike me as vintage though. :/ In the other photos from this shoot (I assume they're the same) she looked fabulous and like she was really having fun with it. It helped that you sharpened the yellows and made it more fun too. It doesn't strike me as all that glamorous in this one.

Maybe it's the black and white that throws me. I don't know. XD It's not often I give art critiques so I might not be phrasing it all that well. Anyhoo, other than those things, a really gorgeous photo. Good luck with your new house. (:

Thank you. =) This dress was actually a vibrant blue prom dress, and it didn't really work with the vintage style I wanted, when it mixed with the grays of the cloudy sky and the greens and browns of the park, so it made sense to make it monochrome.

I'll be doing an in-studio photoshoot with Iliana tomorrow in my new house. I don't have the studio set up yet, but I've got the walls painted correctly to use as a background until I get the setup finished.

Iliana, wow that girl is gorgeous. The first picture makes her look like she's in one of those shows with the seductive murderer. In a good way. If that makes any sense. It looks really pretty. ^^;

The second one I commented on on deviantart, it is one of my favorites of yours. That looks more like it's something out of an old movie, like an Agatha Christie novel. She looks like a movie star. I love this one so much. <3

Thank you, hun! I remember being like "now look sultry...and a little angry" when I was directing Iliana for that first shot. It's one of my favorite shoots to date, and definitely a favorite in a studio setting. I'll be collaborating again with her and another model for some Halloween pinup photos on Tuesday.

Spirit Day: The Tragedy


In honor of Spirit Day on deviantArt, I submitted this photograph and this excerpt:

"I have a friend who is terrified of coming out about their sexuality, born from the fear that their family would disown them. I could never fathom the torture they endure on a daily basis pretending to be something - someone that they aren't. Day in and day out.

Flowers are symbolic in a way, coming out and blossoming into something truly beautiful.

The tragedy is that because of the social taboo that surrounds one's sexuality, my friend may never know what it is to blossom into the person they're truly meant to be.

For all of those unable to bloom, know that there will always be someone who supports you."
