Basic Plot
The small wilderness village of Morlat encounters the "Fiends of Hollowed Hill" who are shape shifting blood-thirsty maniacs. The villagers of Morlat must rise above and become heroes, but in order to defeat these leviathans the heroes must make a major sacrifice and the people of Morlat must make a huge decision.
The Setting
Village of Morlat
The sleeping village of Morlat claims a cold-distant allegiance to the Raelian Kingdom, but due to little contact the villagers are completely out of sync with the happenings of their King. They've long been forgotten by their leaders, but despite this Morlat presses forward as an extremely progressive and rapidly growing village.
They've settled at the forked river of Nesla, where an abundance of fishing keeps them satisfied and the flood waters enrich and fertilize the soil. Mountains to the West provide necessary metals and the heavily forested wilderness that Morlat claims as home are a perfect source for lumber. The area is the ideal location for a village, and it often strikes some of the villagers as odd that none have ever settled here before.
We find ourselves in the early medieval period. Agriculture is the staple food source for the people of Morlat, but domesticated animals still play a role in their diet. Weapons are made of iron at this point, and basic plate armor and chain mail.
Takes place in the original fantasy world: Delmaria
The Plot
Hollowed Hills
To the North of Morlat are the Hollowed Hills. Deep within the recesses of the hill are catacombs, labyrinth-like caves that house some of the most vile creations of all of Delmaria. The Craylax, immortal shape shifting humanoid monstrosities that through the centuries have lost all sense of humanity, they live within these hills and worship the subject of their existence: Shalah. The diabolical God who came from the Abyss and infected the first Craylax, he gives them their immortality and the ability to shape shift and so they worship him. However, their society is quite barbaric and full of constant internal struggles, though they are humanoid in a sense they've lost their civility and have become quite beast-like in nature. It is believed that the longer they consume the flesh of men, the more beast-like they become.
They're organized into sects, with the Grand Chieftan being the central leader. However, they have little need for government and are more concerned with religion and so the Grand Chieftan could be seen as High Priest.
The village of Morlat decides to expand further to the North, to explore the area around the hollowed hills. The Craylax routinely come down from the hills to feast on the readily available food supply. The villagers grow quite afraid, and the leaders call for all volunteers to take up arms and scour the wilderness for the culprits of the attacks.
The heroes are attacked, but survive -- their genetic code is able to adapt to the poison of the Craylax. They transform, endure the weeks of lack of self-control and hysterical attacks against their fellow villagers. However, they eventually plateau and are able to maintain a sense of self-control. They must now return, face their crimes and expose their enemies. Yet, to truly defeat the Craylax some major decisions must be made. The only way to defeat them, is to match their strength... are the villagers ready to take that risk? Give away their humanity to preserve their existence.
The Role play Mechanics
I'm looking for a relatively high-end RP with posts consisting of at least 3-4 paragraphs. I'm not too concerned with basic grammatical errors such as comma splices, but I am looking for a decent descriptive and creative writer.
I'm looking for at least 3, no more than 5. We'll converse via OOC frequently coordinating the plot and creating a very easily read and flowing IC that others would enjoy reading.
Once our characters have been infected they'll lose all sense of self-control. They'll shape shift involuntarily and fly through the wilderness, murdering, killing, and consuming anything that moves into their paths. Eventually, though, sanity returns and the body biologically stabilizes and control is available to the infected.
Shape shifting, you can become some sort of beast. You don't have to be a werewolf, but it must be similar to that. I don't want dragons, gryphons, or anything quite outlandish as that. You may also come up with an original concept if you choose, just be sure to describe it well.
At least a post every couple of days, and please do not drop out on me. Anyone interested?
