It was 8 o clock and the party was only just getting started. Yes it was early for a party but Alex was going to be up at 5:30 the next morning to get a taxi to the city. His boyfriend, Sam, had surprised him with a farewell party at a club in town. It was half eleven when the party ended. Alex had laughed and smiled the whole way through but tomorrow he'd probably feel a little sad, moving away from home.
Sam drove Alex back home at quarter to twelve, wished him well once more and kissed him goodbye.
Alex went back into his home where he was met by his family who hugged him close. His mom, who was a little teary eyed scolded him for coming home late but smiled as she shooed him to his bed.
The next morning the alarm went off at five thirty, taxi would be here at six and he'd being the long journey to New York City.
He got dressed and ran a comb through his hair, his bags had been packed since a week ago and now waited Beside the door. He grabbed a slice of toast as his mother cried and hugged him, his father also seemed teary eye and smiled proudly at his son. "Make me proud son" he said patting Alex on the shoulder. Two years ago when Alex first came out his father hadn't believed Alex was gay, now he was beaming proudly at the boy, proud his son was going to study fashion design, two years ago if someone told Alex his father would be proud of him To study fashion he wouldn't have believed them . Alex was so happy but felt a little sad to be leaving his family he was excited too, New York ... College ... Fashion, it was a dream come true.
Alex waved goodbye and stepped outside to wait for the taxi, he had five minutes to spare till the taxi arrived. Suddenly a familiar Van pulled up. A dark blue van, Sam's van that he and the band used to carry equipment. "Sam!" Alex exclaimed running down the driveway to meet Sam as he stepped out of the van and pulled Alex into a tighter embrace. "I was worried I'd miss seeing you before you left" Sam sighed in relief. "Now listen, I. Love. You. Alex take care of yourself in the city, call me the second you get there. Have the most amazing time there okay and become an amazing designer, I know you can do it." Sam continued squeezing Alex tight.
Alex laughed happily "Oh Sam you sound like my mom!" then his tone grew more serious. "I'll call you the second I get to the city and I'll call everyday! ..." the taxi pulled into the driveway and hoNked its horn twice telling Alex to get a move on.
"I gotta go, thanks for coming to see me so early this morning, and thanks for the fabulous farewell party." Alex put his suitcase into the boot of the taxi and walked round to the passenger side of the car. "I love you Sammy" he said kissing Sam goodbye."Oh God don't make me start crying I won't stop he added wiping away a tear though he also smiled. "I love you too, now get going before you flood the place" Sam insisted kissing Alex and waving him goodbye as he got Into the taxi and closed the door.
The taxi started down the street and headed for the freeway and then ... For New York.
After a very long drive he'd finally reached New York. It was about midday by now. Alex paid the driver and pulled his suitcase out of the trunk of the car. He looked around at the city in amazement and felt the need to scream in excitement. As promised, he pulled out his phone and speeddialed Sam. "I'M IN NEW YORK! Baby I made it". Alex wasnr quietly listening to Sam, he was staring in amazement at the glorious city around him. Eagerly he found his apartment complex. There was a coffee shop just below, he walked inside and ordered a coffee, he was tired after the long drive and a little hungry but too excited to eat food, he nearly lived on coffee anyway so it didn't matter, coffee regularly replaced lunch. He ordered a coffee to go and stepped outside the coffee shop, tuning back into his conversation with Sam.
"... So what's New York like?" Sam asked. "I don't know what to say ... Its ... So ... Fabulous!" came his response. "Anyway I gotta go, I better get to my apartment and dump my stuff, I'll call again tonight, love you" he said hanging up and downing the rest of his coffee before going up to his apartment, getting a key from the landlord/lady.
He let himself inside and put his suitcase down in his room. He looked out the massive window in the sitting room that led onto a balcony over looking the city. The sight was amazing.

Fox rolled out of bed, Ugh what time is it.... 7:30..Oh fuck. He jumped up, getting tangled in his blankets and crashing back down. Monica groaned and grabbed the blankets, covering herself back up, "What are you doing, Fox?" He looked at her, then down at himself, what the hell? He really needed to lay off the vodka! "Um, I'm late for my flight! I'm moving to New York! Bye!" He leaped back up and started tugging his cloths on. He could feel the girl stare at him, god, he so didn't need this right now! He turned around, beaming, flashing his dimples. "I had a lot of fun!" Though he didn't remember any of it!"Well, it was nice meeting you, Jessica." Her mouth dropped open."Who's Jessica!?" She demanded. Oops He swiped up his bags, grabbed his shoes and ran for the door. he had just made it out, an alarm clock missing his head by mere inches. He bounded down the stairs, ignoring the girls streaking, just to be stopped by the sight of both his parents sitting in his living room.
Aw hell! He must of forgotten to lock the door last night, god damn it! He had to go! "We've already had this conversation!" He bolted for the door, only to find it locked. By the time he could unlock it his mother had already flung herself at him. "Why are you leaving me?! What did I do?!" She blubbered. "Your my baby! You can't leave I wont allow it! Herald! Tell him that we won't allow it!" "We're not going to allow this, Son. You see we made you, your our responsibility! And we need to keep you close to our heart, your our only child, son. we gave you freedom, we let you have your own place." Yea one right next to yours! "So you just need to get this silly idea out of your-"He was interrupted by Monica stomping through the room, fully clothed thank god. She pushed him out of her way, shot him the bird, and slammed the door in his face. He sighed, if only he could escape that easily.
He sighed, "Your right, dad. I'll go put my stuff up." He leaned down and kissed his mother on the forehead, and patted his dads shoulder as he walked by. It was an ridiculous idea...What was he thinking? Of coarse he wasn't going to be able to leave his house.....through the front door.
Fox dived into his car, leg throbbing. Okay so maybe jumping out of a second story widow wasn't the smartest thing he could do. But it was the fastest and he had to go,go,go! He turned the car on and squealed down the street, Adios! And good riddance! New York! Her I come!
Fox officially hated flying, he groaned and slumped into a taxi, croaking out the address. He flipped open his phone, clicking past all the missed calls and voice messages. He opened a new text and typed in his moms number. Love you, he typed, made it there safe. I'll call you when I'm ready to talk. He closed his eyes and sighed, well at least the hardest part was over! He just hoped that this horrible morning wasn't an Omen of what was to come here at the Big Apple. The taxi pulled over and belted his price, well shit! He paid the taxi-man the seriously overpriced fee and got out, grumbling. "Freaking rip off artist!" He went to sigh but it stuck in his throat, causing him to cough hysterically. New York was freaking huge!!! He grinned, he just knew he had made the right decision! He practically skipped all the way to his apartment. He wondered who his roommates were going to be? He couldn't wait to meet the people he was going to start his new life with. He went to unlock the door, only to find that it was already unlocked. His grin widened, looks like he was about to meet one of those people now! He burst through the door, excitedly. a guy swung around eyes wide. He stared at Fox questionably, hair falling back in place in front of one of his eyes. Fox smiled sheepishly" Sorry, Bud, didn't mean to scare ya!"

Thank You Jaxi for being A-freakin-Mazing!
Alex turned round from the window ... as he heard someone come in. "Sorry bud, didnt meant to scare ya". Alex let out a sigh in relief, he'd been used to the odd stillness of the empty apartment the sudden addition had startled him but he was glad to have company now.
"No problem, you must be my flat mate" he smiled. "My names Alex" he grinned. "Are you new to New York? Its amazing isnt it!" he said enthusiastically before his phone started buzzing. "Oh excuse me a sec-" he said pulling the phone out of his pocket and answering ... it was Sam?! ... It had been what? 5 minutes since he'd rang home and Sam was calling already ...?
"Hey b-" he started before Sam cut him off. "So what are you doing now? Did you get to your apartment yet? Whats it like? Whos your roommates? What are they like?" he asked excitedly. Alex paused for a moment almost afraid to begin answering for fear of being bombarded with more questions.
"...I called you five minutes ago" he laughed. Sam groaned on the toher end of the phone "Yeah but I still miss you...". Alex felt his heart sink a little, the long distance relationship wouldnt be without its troubles. "I know, I miss you too ... how about we have a super long talk tonight so you dont have to call me every five minutes kay? and if I get a break sometime soon I'll get a taxi back to see you or you could come up to New York, I could show you around". Alex heard Sam perk up again on the other end of the phone line "You want to take me shopping dont you" he said. Alex blushed, he adored dressing Sam up, not that Sam minded either he was hopeless at shopping. "Yes, tonnes of shopping anyway I got to go, I love you, bye" he hung up and let out a sigh in relief, he didnt want to be rude to his roomie by launching into a long convo with Sam.
"Sorry about that ... I'm not used to being so far from home ... some people arent taking it as well as others" he laughed.
"Say where'd you come from t get here?" he asked wondering if this guy had come as far as Alex had.

Molly panicked as the flight from Japan was landing. There was only ten minutes to get out of the airport and get to the bus stop, otherwise she'd have to wait for another hour before the bus came - the bus that had a stop right opposite the appartment block that she was going to move into to.
As soon as the plane stopped and the air hostess announced that people could get off, Molly was out of her seat like an attacking lioness. She battled her way quickly to the exit and was one of the first off the plane. She sprinted across to the building and weaved through the heaving mass of people.
Once at the entrance of the airport, with her luggage, she walked out and looked left and right. The bus was at the stop. With determination she pushed past the five already waiting and held out money. She barked exhaustedly the destination with no return. The bus driver shrugged and gave her the ticket.
The 30 minute bus journey had come to an end and Molly stood looking up and the appartments, "Not bad." She observed and then moved on to find her way to the front door of her appartment. I wonder if there'll be roommates.. She pondered.
She got out her phone and sent a text to her mum saying that she got to the appartment safely. Her mum and sister had taken the flight from Japan back to Washington.

Fox grinned he opened his mouth to answer Alex's question about New york. "I-" Alex's phone rang, cutting him off, and he had to smile as he heard Alex's side of the conversation. At least now he knew he wouldn't be the only one constantly badgered about being away from home. Alex said good bye to his loved one and hung up and sighed, "Sorry about that ... I'm not used to being so far from home ... some people aren't taking it as well as others" the guy laughed, Fox was kinda shocked. He hadn't ever heard such a cute giggle come from a boy before, he cleared his throat.
"Say where'd you come from t get here?"
Fox shook his head and chuckled, "Trust me, dude, I know all about people not taking it very well! You have no idea how hard it was to get here! I come from a small town in Missouri. You know those types of town, where the funnest thing for teens to do are to get drunk and go muddin' " He said the last sentence with a hillbilly twang. Fox looked up and down, Well, maybe this guy wouldn't know what he was talking about! He definitely didn't dress like he fit in with the red necks that he used to be surrounded by. Hell Alex had a better sense of fashion than half the people he knew! But now, getting a closer look at him, Fox found something oddly...familiar? He looked hard at the guys brown eyes and....came out with nothing. Eh, oh well. It'll come when it'll come~
"So, was that your girl friend?" Foxed asked him gesturing to the guys phone. His stomach growled loudly, he blushed and smiled sheepishly, "uh you hungry? I picked up some chow."
Thank You Jaxi for being A-freakin-Mazing!
"Missouri ... Wow ... sounds red-necky" Alex said, shuddering at the thought of red neck clothes ... they were pretty tacky, this guy didnt look red neck though, at least not at first, infact he looked familiar. Then Alex remembered he still hadnt caught the boys name "Sorry, I didnt get your name" he asked, wondering if he knew this kid from somewhere, maybe a name would refresh his memory.
"So, was that your girl friend?" Alex felt himself blush, he adored Sam, they were a couple, Alex was about to blurt out a massive YES! but stopped himself (an odd phenomenon which rarely occured). Suddenly he became a little self conscious, this was his roommate ... he didnt know anything about the guy, what if he was a homophobe? Alex couldnt risk making enemies out of his roommates ... he couldnt say anything yet. "Well um ... that was Sammy" he smiled. "We've been together a while now ... So do you have anyone special back home?" Alex asked.
When Fox mentioned going out for food Alex felt glad, this would be a great way to get to know his flat mate, which would make living together easier. "Sure ... wait you mean food like lunch" Alex laughed, he NEVER ate lunch .... ever. "I'll get a coffee I havent eaten lunch since I was like 16 ... its like an optional meal, lemme run down stairs to get some instant coffee" he said opening the door to find ... "Oh my God, hello!" he smiled at Molly, "Are you flat mate number 3?" he asked.

Fox felt super freaking stupid! He forgot to mention his own name! How nerdy was that?? He chuckled," My name is Fox, just Fox." He saw the boy hesitate to answer his question, wha twas that about? Maybe he was having relationship issues?"Well um ... that was Sammy" "Oh, that's a cute name for a girl! I had an Ex once named that," He wiggled her eyebrows,"She was wild, if you get my drift. Does that hot blooded-ness run through your Sammy to?" "We've been together a while now ... So do you have anyone special back home?"
"Yea..her names Jessic- i mean Monica" He laughed hard at his own joke. ah~ he bet that girl had a Voodoo doll of him~"Nah, I'm just kidding, man, I'm a single beast." He said cockily.
Wow this boy doesn't eat lunch, well it would explain why he was so skinny! His stomach growled louder,"Want me to come with you to the, coffee stuff?"They might have doughnuts!!!
He walked up to go through the door behind Jamie and stopped when he saw a pretty blond girl, "Well, hello there!" He said with his most charming smile.
Thank You Jaxi for being A-freakin-Mazing!
"Fox? Thats an odd name, pleased to meetcha" Alexd smiled. Alex felt awkward, Fox was convinced Sam was a girl ... it would be awkward to keep it up but ... Alex didnt know what the people in New York were like, if they were anyhing like his narrow minded neighbours he wouldnt be coming out again any time soon.
"Cute yeah ..." Alex agreed, a little anxious hoping he didnt look or sound as anxious as he felt. "Hot blooded? I dunno ... we go to parties and gigs and stuff, Sam's band play loads of gigs ... I lived in a really ... narrow minded town, neighbours always watching your every move ... wasnt really allowed to be hot blooded there ..."Alex laughed a little when Fox joked about the girl Jessica or Monica? before admitting he was single. "Well we're in the big apple now, loadsa girls for you to pull right?" Alex said trying to sound totally enthusiastic, he hoped he wouldnt end up scouting for girls with Fox anytime soon, already it was hard to keep up his sorta-straight persona, he was so used to being openly gay although he wassnt shouting it from rooftops, at least he wasnt hiding it.
Alex sighed in relief t the mention of coffee "Yeah coffee sounds great, and lets get you some food before you keel over or something".

"Oh hi. Yup." Molly smiled at Alex and put her keys in her pocket. She then smiled at Fox. "I'm Molly, or Molls, depending on what you wish to call me at the time." She shrugged and stretched her arm. They were aching from having to hold her three suitcases filled with all her stuff and souvenirs from Japan. "You want a Maneki Cat?" Molly asked, unzipping a suitcase and showing them 7 of them.
The Partee Bear
Mark tossed the last of his bags into the back of the tiniest uHaul available, it was weird leaving his home once again. He looked up at the empty apartment that held him for almost a year and a half, remembering the first time he left home. It was so different from today, on that day he felt like a king, going out with a brilliant fanfare and a huge ordeal. This time, there were no tearful goodbyes, no final farewells, and no one waving in the rear-view mirror as he drove away. This town wasn't gonna miss his, and he certainly wasn't going to miss it either.
He twisted on a spark, causing the engine of the car to come alive like a sleeping dragon from a cold slumber. The mirrors were fixed, the radio was set, the tank was full, this town could kiss his ass as he drove away.
The moving van came to a stop, nearly 46 miles away from were it started, now parked outside an apartment in a little town called New York City. Living close enough all his life, Mark wasn't distracted by the flashing lights and hordes of tourist traps, he got his fill long ago. No, this was a business venture, this was all about being close to his new employer, whom he would meet in the morning. Of course, that would be after he got everything inside and set up, but first, rest. He fell down on the floor and just laid there, only surrounded by the two duffel bags he lugged along with him on his first trip up.
