The Past Never Fades Away [IC]

Jack looked out of the window from his office, looking down upon the people scramble about. They were all nothing but a rabble, a large rabble, no doubt, but a rabble none the less. There were others though. That damned agent was no doubt halfway up the building now, probably running up the stairs with his gun out and a strike force only a few steps behind him. That agent had been annoying at most up until just recently, when he had again been unable to withhold himself.
And then there was those children, the Class captain, the girl and the Model, so important to his downfall, but also so important in his defense early on, so willing to help him "Obtain" information from the victim, never knowing what he was doing until it was too late. They would likely find their nights quite haunting for some time, before they could recollect themselves.
No doubt there was the Teacher's Aid down there among the Rabble, probably trying to keep the very people who wanted him nothing but the worst be kept away from him, or most likely, attempting to find the children, likely thinking this not to be an appropriate place for such young and impressionable minds.

The door behind him opened with a crash, as a cavalcade of voices shouted at him, orders to get down, shouts of hatred, the very thing that Jack had been expecting. He didn't even bother turning around, he simply walked forward, opening the window with a gentle push, he walked out into the open air, a sudden burst of noise as the anger and hate was spat out at him by the rabble below. A feeling of weightlessness came to Jack, as he fell from the top of his nine story building, he couldn't help but let his mind wander. An interesting thing that. In his last moments, when he had believed he had thought he would be thinking of Pride of his accomplishments, moral and not, or perhaps directing hatred towards those who had caused his downfall.

Instead, he thought of the events that had led up to this very second. And lastly, and most surprisingly, he felt remorse, he felt remorse over his lack of inner strength, his inability to rein in his darker side, his inability to stop this when it all began the day he came home from the war.

    ************************************************** *

Jack stepped out of his limo, looking towards his office, he headed off towards the hospital, walking straight through the doors, he approached the receptionist.

"Hello, Do you know if I might be able to have a visit with the poor young soul who's been attacked? I want to see if there's anything I can do to comfort him."

((Okay, I forgot to add this in the OOC, but the Victim is a high school student, who went to the same school as Kit, Ann, and Silas, and also wanted to be a Fashion Designer, so he had been in contact with Jack St.Ledger before. Also, he's been rendered mute and blinded in one eye due to the attack. It should also be obvious as to where everyone should be heading in their first posts (You don't need to actually be in the Hospital, but in it's general area by the end of your first post.) Mmmm Kay?))
    Let's Go!

Silas was alone in the waiting room, praying that the girl would recover fully. He was never one to pray to anything, let alone all night over a girl he only knew in passing. He was the only one waiting for her at the moment; even the girl's family and friends were visiting sporadically, maybe because they were too busy getting interrogated to say a mere hello to her. He glanced at a picture of her lying on one of the empty seats. She was such a beautiful girl,he thought.

Silas overheard the steps of someone walking over to his area. "It's probably her parents coming back," he said to himself. When he saw someone else, Jack to be specific, he was startled. He didn't know this guy from a chewed up piece of gum on the street. Jack was handsome, yes, but he had learned from experience that handsome people hold the most secrets.

"What's your relation to her?" Silas asked inquisitively.

Jack was suddenly approached by a young person.

"Oh, no relation, I was just seeing if there was anything I could do to help. I supposed that my wealth would be in dire need with the poor young girl, I've heard that she might have to send her off to a better equipped hospital. Our's might be better than average, but still lacks some very expensive and specialist equipments. Plus they do have such people on hand in the big cities, often for such types of wounds." Jack answered.

Of course he wouldn't actually be letting them take her to a better hospital, where they might be able to heal her, or worse, obtain his role in her attack. No, he was planning on dispatching her this night. Though he hated to do it so painlessly, some Potassium into her bloodstream would make it seem natural, and no one would be the wiser.

"So you're rich, huh?" Silas asked. He grew more suspicious of Jack with each word coming out of his mouth. "So you believe there's nothing this hospital can do? Just because we're in a small town doesn't mean that we're a bunch of homespun folks who can't tell the difference between a knife and a scalpel. People like you look down on us because we're not city folk, and that is beyond insulting and you're beyond ridiculous for thinking you can take someone you don't even know to another hospital."

Silas's anger for Jack grew with each minute, as did the questions. Why was was this guy here? Who is he in the first place? Did he have something to do with her assault? This guy spelled trouble, and Silas knew it.

Jack grew wary of the child.
"Do not insult me child, Tell me, do you know, just what that poor girl is going through? Her chances of life are incredibly slim if she stays here. I should know, because I own this hospital. Just because you think that doctors can cure anything doesn't mean they can. In New York and Washington they have the finest doctors, And don't insult my opinion of this Town, I grew up here and I fought to defend it! I literally own more than half the town. This hospital might be good, but she'll only stand a chance with the very best! Fool Boy!"

Foolish child, only an idiot would think that her wounds could be cured here.

((Er... Rhedd, Why on earth would he think that he was responsible for the attack, or even begin to suspect him? That's some serious gun jumping. Oh, and Jack's fairly well known.))

((Silas is a very suspicious guy to begin with; that's one of his negative qualities))

"Oh, you own the hospital," Silas said in a surprised manner. He didn't know this info and once he did, he was immediately apologetic. "I am so so sorry, you have no idea," he said, offering his hand to Jack. Silas was distrustful of most strangers, something he's had to learn to try and work on. "I'm Silas Brash, if you even care to know who I am right now. I'm sorry about my anger at the moment; I've been feeling a lot of things since this whole thing happened."

Now that he knew who Jack was, Silas felt foolish. He let his emotions and suspicions get to him again. He needed to go out of his way to make it up to him, but how?

"Are you thirsty?" he asked. "I could bring whatever you want; coffee, water, soda, there's a lot here."

John was glad that he finally out of the academy. He sat down in his corner cubical during the night shift at the J Edgar Hoover (FBI) building. There where only two other agents in that office, and they where talking over some coffee. Since he hadn't a case yet, he had no paper work, so he decided to look through old records. After about 20 minuets he came across an old, unsolved case. A women named Sarah Dublith who lived in West Greenwitch, Rode Island was viscously killed, with no conclusive evidence at the scene, even after a quick look over by the FBI. He then noticed the "new developments" tab blinking. HE clicked on. A new women by then name of Megan Sanel was almost killed in the exact same way.

"Looks like I got my first case". He murmured under his breath. He printed off the sheet and walked over to his assistant director's officer. He tapped on the door. "Mr. Skinner sir."

"Oh, your our new agent, John Ludwig. How can I help you." John put the paper on his desk

"Sir I found this case. It has the same circumstance as a one in the same town 10 years the the FBI couldn't solve. Do you think I can have this case for my first one?"

"It is a small case, nothing big or important. I think that I will be great for your first case. Your expenses are allowed. Good luck to you. Lets see if you can solve the case that Jack and Henry couldn't 10 years ago."

    "Thank you sir."

    ******************
John walked into the hospital and up to the front desk.

"Hello there. My name is John Ludwig, FBI. Can I have the room # to Megan Sanel?"

"She is in 115" the receptionist said.

"Thank-you" and John started to walk down.

Wonder who he was. Jack thought, as a newcomer passed by him.

Turning his attention back to the boy, he gave him a wide smile, to show that he wasn't truly insulted or hurt.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Not a lot of people know that I own the hospital, I only recently acquired it. That being said, Do you want to talk to me. I find that if I ever have something I'm worried about it's good to talk to someone about, even if they're not likely to share your views or be able to help." Jack said with a warm smile.

Of course he really didn't tell anyone what he was really worried about. He would, of course, make up false things to be worried about to tell in confessional and in small talk with the locals and his "friends". Were he to ever tell anyone what he was really worried about, like his dark secret, well.... Best not to think of that.

((Oh, Eragon, Since the name of the town doesn't matter, just make one up on the fly, Just make sure to make this obvious to all other players so no one accidentally calls it a wrong name. Same goes with the girl. And don't worry about the absence, not much happened, and I was expecting it, I was actually surprised at the amount of people that were active in the various roleplays I'm in.))

"Yeah, that sounds good," Silas said with a disarmingly nervous smile. His thoughts of suspicion toward Jack turned to a sort of liking of him; not exactly a crush, but a definite admiration. He then grabbed two glasses of grape juice and handed one to Jack. "I don't know if you like it, but it's something," he giggled as he took a sip.

"I really didn't know how this whole thing would affect me," Silas said, his voice choking up a bit. "I mean, I don't even know Megan that well, but from everything I knew she was almost an angel. She would volunteer every holiday to feed the less fortunate and I remember she once used the money her dad gave her for her birthday to buy everyone in the school a prom ticket. It doesn't sound that impressive, I know, but that was just the kind of girl she was. She would give you your full attention even if she didn't know you. I was having a really tough time at school, people would bully and bully, and there was Megan; there with an open heart and open ears. She heard me cry and whine and cry for a good half-hour and, you know how some people are 'in one ear, out the other' and don't even listen? She listened to every single word and gave me the biggest hug and the best advice; you're on top of the world, they're not."

Silas, by now almost sobbing, got a tissue from his pocket to wipe his tears away.

Jack knew what to do. If he let the child look up to him, he could become a valuable asset, someone who might stand up to any allegations that came Jack's way. He quickly gave the child a hug, adding "Don't worry, just let it all out, you'll feel better once you have."

((Ughhh, I feel sick for saying that))
