Through Time and Space {Kirah & May} IC

"Well it's kind of obvious isn't it? You're a doctor after all, aren't they suppose to be helping people?" Trixi laughed some, brushing her long hair out of her face and looking at him as he spoke. "Oh no," she shook her head when the Doctor suggested taking her home. "No I love helping people, it's the getting nearly killed thing that I'd like to avoid." She smiled seriously at him, giving him a little nod of her head. "I told you already that I was staying with you. I'm not going back on that now."

[Kirah]

The Doctor smiled. "Glad to hear that. Question for you. Did you notice something odd about the lady who gave us directions?" The Doctor landed the TARDIS at the hotel and opened the door. "Something seems off doesn't it?" He looked out and took in the view of the Hotel, he made room for Trixi to see out as well.

The "hotel" if it could actually be called that was a very large sprawling castle. The grounds were beautiful immaculate gardens. Everything seemed too perfect. There were several dozen people working on the bushes and there was even a rock garden. Ivy grew over the castle giving it an aged look. There were groups of people milling about. The workers seemed a bit dazed, there wasn't a smile on a single face in the entire garden, not even on the vacationers faces.

Trixi shook her head at the Doctor's question, looking up at him rather confused like. Really, she should have noticed, but she didn't. And that just confused her more. But the Doctor had a lot more experience on her so maybe she shouldn't have noticed where he had. It'd only been a moment after all.

She peered out from underneath the Doctor's arm, looking at everything and everyone. "They all look so sad..." she said after a moment, lips pursed and eyebrows drawing in in concern. "What are the odds of near-death-experiences with this? Not that it's going to stop me, I just want to be prepared."

[Kirah]

"Well I'll give it a 45% chance of near death. Depending on why and who is behind this. Until I have more information I won't know for sure. Let's go check into this hotel and find out what is going on." The Doctor, after carefully locking up the TARDIS, led the way to the main entrance. There was a grand hall that met them as they stepped through the doors. "This is magnificent, so simple but so elegant." He grinned happily. With a quick glance around telling him where the desk was.

A young blonde hair woman sat at the desk. She too had that dazed off look. She didn't seem to notice them as they approached.
"Hello miss?" The woman looked at the Doctor, her eyes focused on him and a smile appeared on her face, the smile did not reach her eyes.
"Hello sir. Would you be booking a room this day?"
"Yes, actually two. This is my assistant and niece. I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"Just the Doctor."
"What do you practice?"
"Saving people." He smiled. The receptionist only wrote down his answers not seeming to find humor in them.
"Of course. I'll have a maid find you once your rooms are ready. The orientation room is just down the hall that way." She pointed off down one of the corridors. "Feel free to eat and drink whatever you like." She turned and pulled a bell string behind her. Not 30 seconds later another young woman appeared. This woman did not have the exact same dazed look as the others. She seemed to holding back a smile. "Prepare two rooms for this gentleman and his niece please."
The maid curtsied and hurried off. Just before she left she looked at the Doctor and Trixi carefully. It was the first true look the two had received since arriving.
"Thank you." The Doctor back away from the desk and led Trixi towards the hall that had been indicated as the orientation room. "Don't eat or drink anything here. Just in case. That maid, we need to speak to her quickly. Come on, let's follow her."

"Well 45% chance is alright with me," she said with a laugh and a nod of her head, easily following the Doctor out into the castle grounds and into the main house. She was looking around her in wide eyed wonder again, even if there was a fair amount of confusion on her face as well. She wasn't going to point out what felt wrong just yet, she was sure the Doctor would see it soon enough and in the middle of everyone didn't seem the right time or place.

Trixi kept quiet as the Doctor checked them in, holding onto his arm. She didn't really think the two of them could pass well as uncle and niece, she was ginger after all and there was just very little that was similar between the two of them. But they bought it and that was what mattered. "But Doctor I'm thirsty," she whined as she followed after him, holding up her skirts as she had to walk very fast to keep up with his longer legs.

[Kirah]

"Alright," he paused and thought for a moment. "If you want to go to the orientation room, that's fine. Be alert though, something very odd is going on with these people." He smiled and kissed the top of her head lightly. "I'm going to go speak with the maid." The Doctor waited for Trixi to make a decision before moving on.

"I'm not staying alone with them," she said shaking her head, looking a little nervous. "I'll live with a parched throat and skip the brainwashing, let's go." She nodded, smiling some and stepping past the Doctor, holding her skirts in one hand and taking his in her other and starting off down the hall after the maid.

[Kirah]

The Doctor smiled to himself. He was quite glad it was Trixi he was traveling with. She was smart enough to listen to him, and knew all the right questions to ask, even if they hurt when she asked them.

The maid led them to what would be their rooms. She looked a bit surprised when they entered the room, but quickly covered the look with a question. "Have you already enjoyed orientation?"

"No we haven't, and you know what orientation is don't you."

"Everyone must go to the orientation room first. Please return to the orientation room."

"Miss you aren't like the others, am I right? You've got life behind those eyes of yours. What's going on?"

"Please return to the orientation room." The maid almost sounded like a robot, but there was an undercurrent that was there that hadn't been there for all the other people.

[May]

"Look we're not going to tell on you," Trixi said, slipping in front of the Doctor and smiling at the maid. "We're here to help you so you don't have to fear who ever it is that's running this place. Just tell us what's going on and together, we can call make this better." Trixi moved forward slowly towards the maid, hands away from her side some to show, like always that she had nothing to hurt her with. "Please, help us help you."

[Kirah]

The maid looked at Trixi and after a moment nodded and sighed. She hurried over to the door and double checked the hall before locking it. "Sorry you can't help but be paranoid around here. My name's Elizabeth." She smiled. "Elizabeth Grey. Long story short I grew up not far from here and recently this lady took over this whole earldom and started turning everyone into those...creepy soul-less beings. Poor souls." Elizabeth sighed. "Anyway, my mother's brother is the usually the Earl here. Mother sent me to find out why my uncle just disappeared a few months ago. I got here and this was going on. So I claimed to be looking for a job, and well here we are now." She sighed again, looking relieved. "How do you think you can help?"
