@DJ: I figure the staffs could then - a bit similarly to how they originally were - be made of combination of different metals, which in this world would allow blocking (especially projected) spells, give one some ability to reach past magical barriers and allow one to disperse ethereal entities such as ghosts (distributing different qualities to different parts of the staff, I imagine, such as making the top end and especially blade capable of sliding through magical barriers, making the main part of the shaft magic-absorbing and so forth), plus those could furthermore be engraved with magical glyphs and be vtypically hosting a crystal prison... Well, and of course those'd still retain all of the qualities a heavy metal thing with a blade has anyway. Would establish their status as quite noteworthy artifacts in this world the same - those, after all, were never supposed to be something common.
(And no, I didn't think you were trying to guess what the metal staffs originally did, I was just referring to the fact that I myself had said that I was attempting to come up with alternate uses for something when I never even explained what originally were, or why would need alternate uses to begin with.)

@Hymusia: Oh yes... I'd have suggested that we played out Aemoten and Thaler's conversation out now so as to not make others wait behind us later, but I for one daren't make a guess in what mental states our poor characters would be once they leave this place, so...

@Yoshua: We've reached a stage where none of the characters (those not in waiting) is of particularly good mental health, and now the individual whom they (well, Jaelnec, mostly) attempted attempted to save and whom they all hoped would survive was decided upon having died. (At least that's what I figure Hymusia was referring at.)

And, of course, were waiting to meet your character. We're already moving towards the time when the group will reach Zerul. Slowly. :P

Seems there's another lull in acticity... and just on the verge to go onwards, too. Is everyone waiting for each other to post first, or what's going on? Let's hear some presence.
I'd also like to hear from Autumn Leaf again, by the way. Seems like he just requested to be allowed to rejoin the RP, then vanished all over again. Are you still around, or have you gone AWOL again?

On another topic, I was shown a rather remarkable video today that I felt like needed to be shared, about a Dane (oh yeah, like me, the Viking-blood runs strong still) making some quite unusual rediscoveries when it comes to archery. In case any of you ever doubted battle-prowess of skilled archers, this is liable to prove its worth.
No matter how I look at it, that is just awesome.

Yeah I'm a bit behind; had people over the past few days which made it hard to catch up, and I also promised to deliver in TDJ before I post here. I shouldn't be too long though, I hope to get it all up before the weekend is over.


Edit: Well there you go guys and gals. I did mean to post here after TDJ, but turns out I felt more inspired for Jill after all. No biggie, I'll get that post done second instead, then. Post felt a bit shallow in spite of making some rather touching observations. The way I see it, Jillian could not as easily be the envy of all when she and the people she knew reached adulthood and thus she viewed magic as her only means of regaining her position in the spotlight that she so desperately craved (probably out of personal insecurity). While some healthy ambition is generally good, she's become so dead-set in her quest that she went in over her head until she couldn't turn back anymore, at which point she saw herself forced to just as well pull through to the (inevitably) bitter end. Had she been given more direction in life, had she had some genuine friends in life, things might have turned out very differently. Alas, she had none as her foul personality botched any but the most resilient of bonds.

I have an image in my head right now of what Jillian would look like in the modern world, and could easily compare her to a junkie who began taking drugs as a means of escape from an otherwise lonely and shitty life until she became far too addicted to stop and then finds herself on a downward spiral needing higher doses and greater sacrifices that create more problems than they solve. Either way, Thaler's assessment of "sad" is very accurate.
