The overhaul feels like it'd be quite significant. Makes me wonder how much I'd recognize from the earlier Ixion...

(I strongly dislike my latest IC-post (mostly because it is incoherent structural mishap), but since it is not bound to become any better from me disliking it and I do not feel the motivation to rewrite it, I posted it regardless.)

In the terms of appearances and some parts of his own history, Ixion will remain the same. In the terms of his personality, abilities and the equipment that he will be using, they are the things that will be overhauled. A good instance for this is that I will be limiting the abilities that he is able to use shadow magic (which he used a fair bit in a previous incarnation, including the one attacking spell that he does know) and he'll be focusing on more of his physical abilities. He will still be using shadow magic, but it will be used to only augmenting his own abilities as a quick fighter. That and more changes will be made before I'll post the character sheet here.

Welcome ^_^. Thought I'd say hi too lol. Since it seems your character will be starting in Zerul, you might get to meet I'onriyi before the others do :3

Haha definitely. I've almost got the character sheet completed (just 3 more sections that I've got to type up, including the initial backstory that everyone can read), so it won't be long before everyone can see Ixion in his re-hauled form.

    Woo~ ^_^.

I'onriyi is a penin battlemage, just so you know. He owns a shop in Zerul and is rather well known there, not to mention he allows people to contract him for mercenary work. In fact, he is currently in the process of returning from a job lol.

Ixion will probably be doing something as a form of introductory post for him to enter the RP in (so a detail on the things that been mentioned in the sheet bar the biography).

Speaking of which, here's the character sheet (let me know Jack if he looks to be OPed):

EDIT: Character sheet has been removed for further edit/consideration for removal in return for a new character.

Okay... frankly, I half-expected that something like this might happen when you told me that you might be bringing back Ixion, but I sort of hoped that the Compenium might convince you to make him considerably different from before, or another character altogether. When you talked about an overhaul I was hopeful, but... I had better just start going through the character and pointing out things that might not be overpowered, but clashes with the universe the RP takes place in.

Let's begin with what is unfortunately the most significant conflict between character and world: Ixion's magic. But even with that, there is so much to discuss that I feel a need to start at the basics. This incarnation of The Prophecy, as I told you before, has a much greater degree of order to it than the last version, which means that the background information on the world has been substantially expanded while I have decided not to allow people to invent their own powers - without a very good and logical explanation as to why they have such powers - but rather try to make do with the, to me, wide selection of magical disciplines I have already designed and integrated into the universe, so that the character fits into the universe rather than the universe trying to fit itself around the character. That isn't to say it can't be unusual - even existing schools of magic can be used in remarkable ways, and there even exist means by which to achieve abilities that would otherwise be beyond the reach of mortals (such as deals with the Grand Master, or being born as a demonspawn - in any case it will usually involve immortal blood, since immortals are generally the only ones capable of ignoring the laws of the universe).
Moving on, the first issue with the magical abilities you have given him is that they are not fitted into any of the existing disciplines of magic. Again, they could be results of deals with the Grand Master, which would justify them entirely but require that Ixion had paid a hefty price to the former Infernal Emperor and most likely ended up cheated somehow, since the Grand Master almost always manages to get the upper hand in his deals. If the abilities come not from an immortal source but from Ixion himself, they would need to approximately fit into an existing category (Thaler's power is justified per agreement with me). Calling it "shadow manipulation" makes it sound like elemental magic with shadow affinity - which is a perfectly viable magical skill - but which would mean that he could manipulate shadow, and that was that. Shadow is per definition simply the absence of light, which would mean that shadow manipulation would allow one to create or remove areas without light - shadows - and that is that. Absence of light is not short-ranged (relative description, by the way - any distance can be termed short in comparison to something else) portals that allow instant movement, nor does it explode, is it capable of altering the trajectory of moving objects, nor take on an appearance as anything else than shadow. It can take on form and move on its own under the influence of shadow affinity elemental magic, sure, but it cannot take on color or make sound or any such thing. Shadows are shadows, nothing more and nothing less (refer to the Second Law of Magic: Something Cannot Come of Nothing).
Then Ixion's magic would be more compatible with the more diverse schools of magic, namely arcane and black magic, which can manipulate the world with spells in countless ways. This would both mean that Ixion was by no means limited to but a few magical abilities, but rather only by his repository of spells. Certain spells might still have appearance that could, in a theatrical sense, make it seem like Ixion was using shadows to do what he was doing, although shadows would be but an aesthetic detail to the spell and not actually have anything to do with it. It would allow him to steer projectiles in mid-air, make magical bombs that created areas of pure shadow (by "pure shadow", I assume you simply mean it removes all light from the area?), and although shadows would have nothing to do with it, he could also create these clone-decoys of his as a sort of illusion. Moreover the energy expenditure for the trajectory-altering and bomb-making would be rather close to what you initially meant it to be, whereas the illusory clones would be significantly less energy-expensive than first estimated (the degree of which would depend on several things: whether they were created simply by bending and controlling light to make glamours (which would require quite some energy, though not as much as you first estimated, and require an enormous focus to control, to the point of Ixion only be able to move himself or a clone at any one time, and it would only be visual trickery and affect no other senses), or if he injected the clones directly into the target's mind (could take very little to a lot of energy, depending on the strength of will and magical protection of the target, would require focus proportional to the target's strength of mind, and would potentially be able to trick all of the target's senses)). The main problem would then be the shadow teleportation, since teleportation in this version of The Prophecy - regardless of the theatrics involved and distance covered - is an enormously difficult kind of magic to learn, and even if learned, teleporting usually requires quantities of energy that would outright kill average humans to lose. This particular ability would be almost unthinkable for him to have, unless he acquired it through a deity somehow, such as through a deal with the Grand Master - in which case the ability might require no energy at all to use, though a great price indeed would have had to have been paid for it.

I think that covers the magic. On to the second issue, which is, sadly, the Shining Hand Guild. Even though ninjas did not really have a place in the universe, and the entire culture connected to the concept has no place in Rodoria, I could have worked around that. Although katanas, nodachi, nagitana and similar weapons are usually only made in and rarely used outside the Catolohne Empire, we could have explained our way out of that. Even though shurikens did not exist, at least not east of the Yawning Gorge, even that could have been explained. I could maybe have worked with it if it had been placed somewhere far away, like Aemoten's homeland, but really it's located smack-dab in the center of the story. Even then I could probably have made it work, with significant effort, if they had been secretive, unknown and enigmatic, as ninjas (stealth specialists, mercenaries and assassins, as the designation originally entailed) generally were, but the Shining Hand Guild is nothing of the sort - they are a group of people who try to do good and lead by example, from what I understood. In other words, they want to be noticed and emulated.
Surely you realize what an enormous effort it would require for me to fit something like this into the universe, if it is at all possible.

It was possible to use this character in the previous incarnation of The Prophecy because the universe was still relatively young and undeveloped, still somewhat vague and allowing a lot of abstract creativity, but the universe has grown and matured significantly since then. I can stretch a long way and am willing to work to make your ideas fit into the universe - all I am asking is that you, in return, make an effort to make your ideas easier to integrate. As it is now, that would be an almost insurmountable task for me, so I cannot accept the character.

That's not a problem. This will more than likely mean that, instead of the familiar character that was in the previous incarnation of the RP, that Ixion would have to undergo a complete re-design in itself. This is something that I can do as the concept is there, just that this version of the concept (the one that you, Shien and myself know well) would not fit in the world due to the reasons that you have said.

I will have to retake the character sheet that is in my previous post and have to really work on it some more (which as I've mentioned isn't a problem) or just forego Ixion and create a completely new character.

Apologies for the double posting, but after reworking the character sheet with Jack, I've completed the overhaul of Ixion. I'm still not 100% happy with what I have noted down for his last magical ability but if it is acceptable, then it can be left as it is.

Almost there. There are just one more little thing that did not occur to me until just yesterday: assassination tends to be a rather expensive commodity, and assassins (or their handlers) do not usually announce themselves as such to the community. This is important because obviously assassins is not something anyone would be able to afford, nor would just anyone be able to find a way to contact one - and even people that can do both of those things has to pay quite a bit, and run the risk of being caught trying to have someone assassinated. So obviously, unless Ixion is some sort of discount-assassin, people won't go around having just anyone and their neighbour assassinated for no good reason.
The point of all this, then, is that Ixion has been an assassin for (I figure) about six years, so he's bound to have done quite a few contracts. All of this is obvious. What I want to know is: who has he killed? Because obviously, if he has gone about and assassinated government officials, military officers, high-born nobility and commanders of the Ducal Guard, that will affect both the state of Rodoria and the way NPCs might react to him.
