Name: Ixion Ecthalion
Ixion is a small person for a man, his stature being about 5'6”. His entire body seems to be constructed to the form that only his profession would desire. He is very lithesome in shape, but the bulk that he does have has been slightly enhanced by the armour that he wears. While the lower half of his face, up onto his nose, is completely covered, the parts that are uncovered show a long scar that runs over his right eye, the extent of it being covered with his cowl and another one across the bridge of the nose that is still visible. The one thing that makes him stand out (apart from his clothing) is the sharp, dark slate grey eyes that pierce through, making him every inch of him menacing.
His apparel is one that is highly suited for the tasks at hand. His armour is light, yet allows him to be flexible and enables him to be adequately covered from any form of attack. On top of his head is a dark crimson hood, a metal crest that has three wide prongs being on the brow of his head and is ornated with sunstones of various shapes and sizes. The lower half of his face is completely covered by a black, breathable fabric. The pauldrons, breastplate (and the buff coat that it covers), greaves, sabatons and faulds are ornate and crafted with absolute perfection, the dark crimson armour being lined with a few goldenrod lines and made of very thin steel albeit the buff armour, which is made of leather. The pauldrons were solid steel that has various tribal patterns on it (accented by the goldenrod). The footwear are plain faced with goldenrod edges, as well as his breastplate. Only the faulds are made from multiple lames, where only the edges that did not touch the other lames have the goldenrod edge. His gauntlets are crafted and made with a died dark crimson leather, with only a brass outline, which covers the protecting the edges which aren't a part of his gloved end from fraying. There are symbols of The Grand Master are sewn onto the backhand area of his gauntlets. His entire legs are completely unarmoured and are covered with a dark crimson fabric, as are the parts of the arms that are not covered by the gauntlets. There is a gold belt that runs around his waist that allows him to carry on the basic of needs (coin purse, straps to tie his weapon down and small bags that keeps other menial things that he needs while on the job).
Ixion, while he is very loyal to those he is under contract or deems as friends, takes on a taciturn and reserved nature, rarely speaking out to those he is around. Even with those who are close to him, he only speaks a few words due to events in his past (which will be revealed during the course of the RP) making it very difficult for him to do so. Because of his, rather forced, silence, he has a very unusual sense of alertness about him, making him able to notice things that are around him a lot easier. Because of this behaviour, he is very methodical and able to deal with things one at a time, whether it is looking at a puzzle that he needs to solve or planning his next move when he is in the heat of combat. When he is asked about his past or how he can use one of his abilities, it is the only time when he does get vocal towards the one asking the question and display signs of aggression.
Ixion was born in a village somewhere in Rodoria. Immediately after his birth, his mother had complications shortly after his birth and had died as a result of this. He had been raised by his father, a simple fisherman that had attracted a moderate sized amount of fish, but was easily extorted out of the correct price that the catch should be attracting by the merchants that pass through it. While his father was at work, the small Ixion spent time skirting around the village foraging for food just to keep them fed for the next day. By the time he was five, due to trying to stand up and raise the price on the fish, one of the merchant's thugs had trashed the stall that his father sold his fish from (subsequently, the place they were living in as well was brought to a smouldering ruin) and had beheaded his father in the process, throwing the dead body in the fire. Up until he was 14, he had been sleeping between the ruins of his house and various houses of the village. When he thought he was old enough, he simply left the village and walked 50 miles from it to Anaxim City in prospects that his life would get better as a result.
These prospects didn't happen and had to learn how to survive on the streets, resorting to stealing food from stalls whenever he can or scrounge for any household waste in hope that there is something edible. Throughout the rest of his teenage years and some of his adulthood, he had spent his time between surviving and training himself, occasionally sparring with random warriors just so he could get better. By the time he was 23, he had gathered enough money via pickpocketing to gain a collection of knives that he would use to either backstab people or throw at his target and a large scythe. He then ventured out into the woods and, seeing an ebony tree, cut the tree down and fashioned a new handle for his scythe, making the handle smaller and giving him a hand guard to protect his hand from getting hit by weapons. Once done and attacked a merchant cart that sold metal wares that included weights and a light but durable chain, he added onto the base of the kama a chain and a sizable weight onto the end of it to produce a kusarigama, ornating it with the rubies and the sunstones that the crimson merchant was carrying.
Throughout his entire life in Anaxim City, he had to learn to survive and learn new tricks quickly. One of those abilities, which he learnt from an old acquaintance before they were killed while running away, was the ability of being very dexterous attacking enemies with knives and his scythe (prior to remaking it to his kusarigama). This would allow him to counterattack enemies that he faced at a similar sort of speed that he had dodged them. Another one of the tricks he learnt from another acquaintance, who was captured and executed for various murders, was to accurately throw knives at a target.
Along with this, he taught himself in the arts of stealth. This ranged from allowing him to vault from one rafter of the building to another without making any sounds to allow him to walk up on people without being detected. As a result of this stealth training, he his very agile on his own feet, allowing him to dodge oncoming melee attacks in near-blinding speeds or with some form of acrobatics. However, in training in stealth and the ability to bring down enemies in a short space of time, he does not have the endurance to keep up with the energy needed for him to perform these feats. This lack of stamina plus the frailty in his strength, he becomes very prone to fights that last over the course of tens of minutes. This can certainly be a problem for him if he loses his kusarigama, either through breakage, loss via environmental hazards or blocked by numerous enemies, and using up all of his throwable items.
As he had been an infiltrator for most of his life, he has the ability to manipulate any of the buildings that he encounters so that he could gain access to a few compounds without prior knowledge. Prior to an incident that caused him to be almost mute, he was able to communicate in various languages and dialects, allowing him easy access through the front door if entry by other means is not possible. Despite his now inability to communicate by word, he still retains the knowledge of those languages and is able to read through some documents without immense difficulty. This also ties in with a very quick mental agility, allowing him to scan through things and note their importance in the scene with regards to the task at hand, whether it be for usability for entrance or exits from the place he is in or noticing things for various puzzles.
Ever since he was a young adult, he had come across mages that enabled him to read the arcane magic scrolls. While the reading was extensive, only a few of them remained imprinted on his mind so that he can remember to use them. One of these abilities is to manipulate anything that he uses. The only thing that he uses this magic for is when his series of knives miss their target. He has mastered the movements needed to perform the magic (involving using both of his hands) and conceal the idea that he was using magic to get them to change their trajectory (mainly moving his left hand as a part of the incantation towards the target as steering the knives).
For his only spell that he can whisper the words, albeit questionable compared with the last ability, he has the ability to implant another image of himself into the mind of his target (or targets, depending on numbers and only use it on the stronger enemies while he dispatches the others through physical means). The clone themselves would appear to be countering the targets every move while the other image (which is his real self) can be seen dispatching anyone that the target was with, using this method as a fear tactic to demoralize the target before Ixion can turn his attention on the target for the kill. He normally whispers the incantation prior to the fight so that there is less of a chance of the target realizing that the spell was affecting them before it is too late, though magic users might be able to notice this while chanting, regardless if it's before a battle or not. On some occasions with his target, he can dispel it with an animation that he is appearing through the ground, using his last ability to meld the animation to its completion.
His final ability, while seemingly the most powerful one he has, is the ability to teleport from one place to another, though he very often uses this in conjunction to the shadows to make him appear that he is an entity of the darkness (though he has occasionally used this without them, but those who do see him do this either end up dead or they are usually unbelievable anyway when they tell the story). With this ability, there is a restriction that he has to teleport an image of where he wants to teleport to that is in his field of vision (with a possible maximum range of 300m on the ground and 15m in the air) and, if he wants to teleport onto the ground, has to be clear of anything. While his other abilities he can talk about how he is able to do them without problems, this ability is the one that he keeps secret the most and will turn very aggressive if people ask and persist on for an answer from him. The secret as to how he can perform the ability is also hidden as well, rarely spotted by anyone with eagle-eyed vision or acute hearing. As mentioned above, he usually uses this with his illusion ability to make him appear that he is coming through the ground, using surgical accuracy to make the transition out of this illusion to his real self.
When he was 23 and travelling in the woods, he found an ebony tree and used it to create his main weapon, which is the kusarigama. It is a scythe that has a chain with a heavy weight on the end of it, in which he reduced the length of the pole and added a curved guard around his hand. The ornate weapon, embedded with sunstones and rubies, is over 1 ½ of the length of his forearm and a blade about the same size of the limb (with the wrist, hand and fingers added to the length as well). The chain itself is over 2.5m longs and the weight is substantial enough that it can be felt by anyone of any sort of stature with the force that he puts into it. The chain itself is very light so he is able to carry the weapon around without sapping his own strength, but strong enough so he is able to wrap the chain around any weapon that he needs to remove without breaking. The blade is made of a heavy-duty steel that has been darkened with the addition of coal within the surface of the metal. The edge itself doesn't have this, giving it a sinister look when light shines off of it.
Another set of weapons that he has in his arsenal is a small cache of 10 throwing knives that he uses to remove his disadvantage at ranges that are beyond the range of his main weapon. The blades themselves are 7 inches long and have a silver sheen on the top of them to give them an appearance that they were magical of some sorts. While this 'aura' appears on the surface, the knives are not magical and have the sheen on them because of a mineral that went into the manufacturing of them (like adding chromium to steel to give stainless steel, which is what the mineral is). This, alongside his ability to control arcane magic, allows him to manipulate the trajectory of the knives so that they are able to be more accurate against their intended target and make them believe that the knives are magical and can obey his commands to strike a target.
Ixion has been an assassin for 6 years. Due to unknown reasons, he became a discount-assassin in order to get his name mentioned in the underworld of crime. While the majority of them have been ordinary people that have gotten the wrong end of his contact, there have been a few that were military officers in all of the Duchies, especially Etlon, Pelagid and Gilmah. For the latter two, he has also taken the life of a few more people of note, especially merchants and noblemen. Outside of his contract, he has been occasionally seen hunting the Crusaders.
This area I will be using to add some of the detail that is not mentioned in the above sections as the RP unfolds.
