WOTM: Theme Suggestions

I was just about to pop in here and suggest 'Time.' What a wonderful coincidence.

• The story takes place in two or more different eras.
• The story touches on family generations bloodlines.
• The main character finds something/someone from his/her past.
• The protagonists awakens in a different time (open to interpretation).
• And some of Rose Swan's stuff (I like involving a historical figure).

The heavy overlap between 'Time' and 'Time Travel' means we very likely won't use both of these as separate themes. Perhaps we can smush them together and use components from both suggestions. Hrm.

We'll consider it in due time. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd prefer a "time" theme over a "time travel" theme. Perhaps "time travel" can be a component in a time theme, though. That allows for more deviation in entries, so that they don't all have the same premise, while still encouraging the cool idea of time travel. More likely to happen than just a time travel theme.

Perhaps with "Time" is could also have futuristic events maybe? Like technology and civilization evolving and having characters adapting.

Alternate Universe

• An object or entity is hidden/trapped within an alternate universe.
• Negative/Positive outcomes of interacting with an alternate universe.
• The alternate universe sustains life in a unique way.
• The alternate universe does not contain magical creatures.

These are just some suggestions for this idea. It popped in my head and I figured I would share the idea with you all.

Genre themes are fine. Pretty easy to make components for, too. We have a Fantasy theme lying around, though it never fared too well in the Theme Choice polls...

Music theme... how? As in entries based off of a song or just entries about music in general?

Got any components to give us a better idea of what you mean?

This seems a bit... unusual, and perhaps not broad enough. It seems any entry made to go along with this theme will look too similar, as they'll all be about, well, the existence of an alternate universe, and some sort of interaction with it. I'm not sure how to make this one work.

Without committing any notable amount of creativity here is what I came up with -

Genre suggestions:
Western
Historical
-Industrial Revolution
-Great Depression Era
-Renaissance

Music suggestions:
-Music has strongly influenced the character's life in some way
-Music brings back a memory, emotion, or experience in some way
-Music doesn't exist or is banned / outlawed

"Historical" is probably better than limiting to a specific time period. Actually "historical" in general sounds like it would make a great theme...

Music suggestions:
-Music has strongly influenced the character's life in some way
-Music brings back a memory, emotion, or experience in some way
-Music doesn't exist or is banned / outlawed

Seems... unusual. Plus trying to incorporate music into a written story can be a challenge, which could be seen as a good or a bad thing. This could be tough to make into a usable theme, but I'm not downright rejecting it. We'll see.
