I have no idea if it's been submitted before, but how about "Story based on an instrumental track"? Figuring out the components would be a pain tho.
On the other hand, we could do "Monologue of a deity", see how that goes.
How about Failure or Vengeance. Maybe even Selfishness
Failure
The protagonist must have failed or will fail during the course of the story
The result of failing/what has happened since the protagonist failed
Sudden/unexpected collapse within a system
Vengeance
Is driven/compelled by the desire to enact vengeance upon someone or something
The protagonist is the target of someones vengeance
Vengeance as an entity
Selfishness
I honestly have no ideas at the moment for selfishness, but I figured its something most stories/poems don't go over in a positive/negative aspect. I've also never made components for writing before. I also haven't looked to see if anyone suggested these themes before. So I apologize before hand if I'm sounding like a broken record.

Yeah, I have no idea how to make something like that work.
Sounds way too specific. Also it was sort of already done before with the 'Mythology' theme. ...Albeit that theme was way broader, of course. This theme would cause all entries made under it to look way too similar. On the other hand, we could do "Monologue of a deity", see how that goes.
All of these have some potential as themes. Failure and Vengeance seem like they'd be fairly easy to work work. Selfishness though... That'll take some work for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Hrm. There's been at least one theme of being based on music, though I believe that one was "based on lyrics." It's possible to do something with an instrumental track, but coming up with components is indeed a pain. Unless we were to make very constricting components, it'd basically be more akin to "write whatever you feel like and give us a song to go with it" than a true theme. Basing a story on an instrumental track is certainly a cool idea, and I actually did that for some WOTM contests of the past, but I'm not sure it works as a theme for this contest. We'll have to talk it out and see if we can come up with something that works.
Kagamine already covered the second suggestion and why it won't work for us.
Thanks for the suggestions nonetheless.
Did you know we have a Writer of the Month contest? Come join it.
WOTM #26: Evil Wins is open and accepting entries through June 4th.
I'd do Vengeance. I have an... interesting idea for that.
I have a Graphics Shop now. Graphics Shops are cool.
I run a roleplaying site too!

What about travel?
The components could be like "the protagonist isn't traveling", "The travel is metaphorical", and so on.
Sickness?
Love. You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
