War sounds interesting as a theme... and with proper components it can be spliced during only a single contest to allow both "before" and after stories.
War is a good theme to mess around with. I'd be willing to do a more sober and serious post for that.

Yes I know it's a movie -- but I really think good stories could come out of that kind of phrase if it's left to interpretation.

Maybe this is just me but the past two months' themes have been a bit dark (cannot think of a better word but nothing negative meant to be implied) and abstract. Perhaps for next month (or whatever) something simple and neutral (or better yet happy) could be a theme.
Some ideas:
Theme: Birthday Party
Create an scene of a birthday party. (duh)
Components could be: POV of an inanimate object, the birthday person is over the age of 30, the birthday party suddenly goes awry, etc.

Theme: Clowns
Create an entry about the life of a clown (?)
Components could be: purely a comedic roleplay for laughs and witty/injury humor, the clown is married to another clown and work together (IDK!), a life is saved in the story somewhere, rhyming is used somehow, etc.

Theme: Pie
Create and entry about PIE the food.
Components could be, have Pi in there somewhere too, have a pie fight with as the climax, have something hidden in the pie, etc. (-shrugs-)
Anyway just some crazy creative what the fuck ideas to help you guys out.
If any of these were picked or tweaked, cool, happy to help but give props if ya do run with the idea. I know I'd totally enter one of these since it could be crazy fun as well as a challenge. Anyway good luck fellas! The best thing about these ideas is that there is some fun, room for drama and suspense and all that, but it's unexpected too. So anything could happen but hopefully more of a light topic. So to speak.

I'm actually interested on writing a war themed story as well... or maybe a "vengeance" theme... but the "The first day of the rest of your life" is ok... though maybe rewording it to say something like "life changing event"… it could be happy or sad...
