This sounds interesting. I have a trait. A super smart nerd who can make anything mechanical and electrical but the drawback is no matter how good he looks he just can't attract the ladies due to his awkwardness in social situations.
Strength of Self is the title of an idea I am working on. As opposed to a story or a setting, it is a system.
Basically, we will decide on the story and setting later.
Here is how the Strength of Self System works:
Like any roleplaying story, we all make characters. In the beginning, there is nothing exceptional about us. But as we progress, details about your personality and history lends themselves to certain powers. Basically, we take normal situations, and apply magical exaggerations to them.
For example:
Someone who is Irish, directly from Ireland, wouldn't just speak with an Irish accent, he would be capable of drinking ungodly amounts of alcohol without suffering ill effects.
A doctor could do crazy things like reattach arms and heal injuries just by rubbing them. An Indian man might be able to grow extra arms, a famous model might be able to use some sort of seduction based mind control, and a Buddhist or Stoic might be invulnerable to injury.
However, every power has certain requirements and drawbacks. The Irishman would be stereotypically violent, the Buddhist would lose his power if he did anything violent, the model would have to stay pretty to stay powerful, and the Stoic might lose his power if he cared about anything.
The general idea is if you show certain strange qualities that aren't common in the average suburb of America, the myths and exaggerations would be LITERAL.
The average persons response to these things would be slightly shocked and confused to how it works, but they would simple accept the explanation "I am a Doctor" when you snap your finger back into place.
IF you are interested in the idea, and want to run a character trait/power by me, say it here.

also this will be my first advanced RP so i hope I can keep up with you guys![]()
Interesting-- I don't believe I've seen an RP like this before with such a concept. Perhaps a man who shows exceptional strength (such as lifting cars, etc.) but his drawback is that he can never show a gentle and caring side, or else he loses the powers until he does something particularly violent.
Probably won't join, but idea: guy wiu a cold, unfeeling personality, can create ice but drawback is that if his body temperature gets to high, he melts.
"...And that is the long and convoluted reason for what that guy said last week. Now...*puts on jetpack* I built this jetpack. EXPOSITION MAN, AWAY!" -Connor(Chaos Theory)

I'm interested. I've got two ideas, not sure which I like better: A detective with super powers of observation, who can see the truth about things just by looking at them, but who's always suspicious of everyone, even if they're completely innocent.
Or, a rock star who's basically a stereotypical rock star. Girls swoon over him, and he has ungodly amounts of money, but he has an ego the size of the universe while actually being a colossal prick.
I like either. I actually had the idea of a rockstar who can use his guitar to mass hypnotize fangirls, and summon them as an army.
His weakness: A bad review from a music magazine.
As for the muscle man, there has to be something to his past, career, etc, to make him like that. Maybe he is a macho man, who is physically strong, but if he gets beat by a girl, he suddenly has no strength.

Perhaps he's a manly weightlifter, who has stereotypical views of a woman, and whenever she beats him at something whether it be mind games, etc. he loses his powers for feeling inferior, etc.
