I would have to say most of the people I've rped with have been cooperative... I actually feel like I might be the competitive type without realizing it... though now I have O__o okay... Anyways....
Actually I do romance rps... Both characters are the main character, when the characters split off we take a handful of npcs and roleplay with the two main characters.... I try not to put the spotlight on my character.

I bet you won't click this link

I know I personally love killing off my characters. I was in this epic RP on another site and got to off one of my favorite characters for the "greater good". I've never had a better ending to any of my character's stories.

So I chose cooperative, because that's what I'd like to think I am. I also tend to RP with like minded people. However I have run across those who are very very competitive and will hijack your story and run with it until they vanish into oblivion and the story line can no longer be salvaged. :[

Used to enjoy the company of competitively cooperative players, racing to see which one could throw themselves upon a hand grenade the fastest.

Likewise, a few would intentionally maim their characters or RP as the other gender in order to keep the RP from being inhabited exclusively by ken-doll Ramboes/GI-Joe.

RPs in that age used to be awesome as the mooks turned-out to become big damned heroes and the only way anyone could earn their happy-ending was if someone else was also willing to help give them one.

Then they got banned. Apparently newbies don't like being told how to RP.

It often seems like everyone wants to avoid godmoding. But at the same time they want to be better than everyone else, so every time there's a new character in the OoC it's always just a little bit better than the character before it; prettier, more skilled with magic and weapons, etc.

Likewise, people seme to think that their characters reflect upon their true personalities somehow, so I consistently see people who always play the georgeous halfling martyr with a mysterious past, as if that will somehow make them cooler as individuals.

I've had a very mixed experience, but I do notice quite a deal of competitive players. Some won't outwardly act it until you're the GM or something. I've noticed that some who appear particularly cooperative simply want their character to be the biggest and baddest for some reason or another. However, I have noticed a pretty direct correlation between competitiveness and confidence. The less a player feels confident about themselves or their writing, the more often they drive in a competitive air.

Maybe it's because I bring up the idea to work together and strategize plot initially most of the time, but I always encounter a cooperative Role Player.

Most of the people I encounter are cooperative, but the competitive ones stick in my mind more because they're a pain in the butt.

I've only been here about a day, and so far, my experience has been about 60-40 competitive - cooperative in Casual.

That being said, there's a noticeable split in the competitive group, too. So much so that I would argue it needs to be broken down further. Something like... I dunno... combative, competitive, cooperative.

What I mean by that is, there are the competitive people as depicted in the poll, and the cooperative as depicted in the poll, but from what I've seen, there's also a number of people who aren't just competitive, but they're belligerent about it. Especially when they're called on it. If I included combative as an option, I'd say it's closer to 20-40-40, in order of combative - competitive - cooperative.

So yeah, a little better than the norm. Most of the time, on the webs, it seems closer to 30-50-20 on the same scale.

[OOCly] Combative players are usually given the distinct catagory all to themselves, noobs.

Mostly because they miss the point entirely half the time.
