So what did the were do?

Basically Spes was wandering around outside of town as a child and was approached/attacked by a stray were. Spes' magical potential had awakened, but he hadn't learned to control it yet, and in a moment of panic trying to defend himself he subconsciously unleashed his magic and ended up accidentally transferring his soul to the clay, which became his new body.

I may be slightly confused on how the lore has evolved. I wrote that bit of background based on the following line in the OOC guide:
Weres consider themselves to be the original creations and believe humanity to be the effect of fallen weres who abandoned Nature and so were abandoned in return. Because of this weres take every chance to ignore humanity in every way but for the occasional snack

My assumption is a hungry were, possibly abandoned by his pack, wouldn't have a second thought about taking and eating a child who was playing by himself, defenseless.

Ok, makes sense. I figure there is a certain level of respect for children, they atleast dont attack, but it makes sense an abandoned were would make him a snack. How should Avaea take what Spes said? Or do you want him to just exsplain it later.

I think it was a reasonable reaction, minus the whole "weres wouldn't use that kind of magic" part. Avaea has every reason to question why a were would attack a child given her understanding of were culture. Spes, however, being a child at the time, would have had no idea what tribe it would have been from or even if attacking kids was a standard "were" thing to do. So there's ultimately a fundamental mis-understanding between the two. I'll probably have Spes further clarify in his next post based on how Avaea reacted.

Oh, so then what is the "common" knowledge relating to the seasons. I assume the "creation" story is well known, and that seasons have physical forms. However, do most people assume the seasons are just immortal gods walking among the people?

Pretty much. Even in this world, there are atheists who believe that the seasons are just sufficiently powerful magicians that either keep Everdaunt's balance or take advantage of its people, depending on his or her viewpoint.

The story told to disciples in the temple is that Mother Nature came first and created the world. Then she left her four children to watch it while she went elsewhere. There is even a sort of "rapture" tale where Mother Nature returns, takes her children into the abyss with her and creates the world anew.

As for the part about the abandoned weres- I meant to say that weres believe humans to be former weres and decedents of weres who sinned, so to speak, so Mother Nature took away their power to shape shift. A were could be banished from his pack, I suppose, for one reason or another.

Avaea- Nice characterization for Winter, though I do kind of fear splitting up the group further. Maybe I fast forward the jungle plot and have Summer and co come home, though there is something I really want to make happen while I'm there....hmmm...

It's the plot point about autumn dying and coming back that pisses me off. I want to drag this person through the reeds and let everyone know how unoriginal she is.
