Fixed. And it should work so long as he doesn't go full-bourne Nolan on it, since Superman still needs a fantastical(?) edge to it :P

it still defeats the entire point of Superman and Batman being the perfect partners...
Superman didn't find out until he was a teenager that he was adopted, he of course is sad that he never really knew his parents, but he isn't too sad, because he still has Ma and Pa Kent, as well as Krypto (who i, sadly, doubt will be in the movies, but no, having something bright and cheerful isn't like Superman at all, is it Nolan?
on the urging of a friend of mine, i got the Batman Noel comic a few weeks ago, it's sort of a re-interpretation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in it, Batman is visited by 3 different people throughout the night that represent his Past, Present and Future, Catwoman representing the fun he used to have in the past, the Joker representing the dark future he has ahead of him, but Superman makes an appearance as the Present, and as we all know, the ghost of christmas present was supposed to be a very happy soul.
personally, if i had written this comic, i think I would have made Joker his present (Batmans' associates don't come much happier than Joker) and Jean-Paul Valley as Future but i prefer the way they did it. Superman makes a much better Present as he does see the best of everything, and though he does have his emotional baggage, he keeps his mind off of it and on the happier parts of his life, like Lois, the Daily Bugle and his other relatives. whereas Batman constantly keeps it fresh in his memory, as a way to drive him on.
Superman is an Angel to protect the good, and Batman is a Demon to punish the evil.

You're kind of assuming that they're going to turn Superman into a wangsty and troubled anti-hero before you've even seen the damn film. From the trailers, all I can see is that they're going to give a more cynical edge to the mythos, and the first trailers actually confirmed that Superman is going to stay as the Paragon/Angel of Goodness:
"You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They'll rise behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders."— Jor-El
Making something darker doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to turn everyone into morally ambiguous anti-heroes. Again, look at Tamers- Much darker than Adventure ever had the balls to be, but the core themes held up, and Takato is one of the kindest and most paragon-like protagonists that we've had in the Digimon series. He's also one of the most interesting. Even Rika/Ruki got over herself pretty early on and grew out of being the ice queen.
There's little actual evidence that I can see that says that they're going to go full-power Nolan on Superman. If anything, it seems like they're going for a deconstruction- But Jor-El's quote from the trailer pretty much confirms that it's going straight back around into reconstruction. Just because things are going into Darker territory doesn't mean that they're going to pull a full Nolan with Superman. You'd have to be a complete idiot to do that with Superman anyway, all things considered- But if they're going to do what I suspect they're going to do from Jor-El's quote, than this should be interested. I could be wrong, of course, but I could also be right. I'll reserve my actual judgement until I can watch it with my own two eyes.

its's mainly the fact that there isn't a single shot from that trailer that he looks even remotely happy in... and in every comic i have ever read with Superman in it, he spent most of it smiling... especially Superman vs the Elite... I won't spoil the ending, but let's just say we get a look at dark superman... he is really, really, REALLY, fucking scary.

@Tob
That's basically what I'm hoping for. Show him develop into the Paragon we all know and love. With some possible world half-full thrown in depending on how Nolanized it is.

Indeed. Also, still haven't seen a Sawk.
But what do you mean by "possible world half-full thrown in"? They should totally decon-recon Lex Luthor.
