Compared to other Paladins, he's quite easily a person who could be, going by his lack of a family name, a morally bankrupt ruffian who has no place possessing a Halcyon's Feather on the crown of his head. Yet, if there's one thing he IS good at, it's the ability to make others like him. He's not exactly the charismatic individual who would be able to influence the moral of hundreds of battle-weary soldiers, but Althein is rather good at making himself look good in front of his superiors. This had allowed him to make more than just a few connections with higher-ups, and his unique fighting style had caught the eyes of many ordinary civilians. Instead of being a 'pure' fighter, he could be described more as a performer, someone who goes out of his way to make things more interesting to see. He's respectful towards those that he needs to butter up and flatter, but more often than not, amongst friends whom he can drop his facade amongst, Althein is an immature, carefree person, dropping jokes and off-hand comments whenever he wants. He's not a person who is calm in any situation, but at the same time, he's one that never feels stressed about anything. Just a person who's constantly light, one that focuses not on the weight of the future, but on the joys of the 'present'. To live more, gain more, and enjoy more than anyone else. It runs counter-intuitively to what Paladins are supposed to be like, but Althein doesn't care. After all, for a military position, as long as you bring in results, you can do whatever.[/hider] [b][u]Combat Details[/u][/b] [hider=Equipment] Althein, through his connections with the youngest Grandmaster of Kaien, Savaniel Volduriaz, possesses not one, but two magical artifacts, making up for the fact that his actual magical ability is pretty much non-existent. The first magical artifact he has is the Ghostblade, a longsword with a translucent, single-edged blade. Shorter than most swords, it's surprisingly light, and has a black-leather grip, with the rest of the sword being primarily a crystalline blue. Inscribed on the flat of the blade are runes that can be activated for three spells. The first is a propulsion spell, allowing Althein to instantly accelerate in any direction, horizontal or vertical, regardless of the laws of motion. The second grants him the ability to pass through any physical or magical object, as long as he does so in the span of one second. The third allows the blade to change into any shape he desires, provided that it still retains the same physical mass as before. The second artifact in his possession is the Windward Wisteria, a hiltless short sword with a turquoise sheen to it. The wooden grip is elegantly grooved, designed with flowers and birds, and the Windward Wisteria contains two spells, one which allows him to manipulate the wind, and another that manipulates his weight, allowing him to be anywhere from weightless to five hundred kilograms. A nice surprise for all the people who think that they could move him with just physical strength, if nothing else.[/hider] [hider=Physical Techniques] Kaien Acrobatics – Althein is a flexible, agile person, and as such, has developed his fighting style with those strengths and advantages in mind. A by-product of this is his acrobatic and parkour skills, making him an extremely mobile and unpredictable person regardless of the terrain. It's almost pointless to try to defeat him through blunt, physical force, as he is extraordinarily good at evading and mitigating the damage of anything that doesn't cut. Add that with his weightlessness spell, and his ability to avoid bone-crushing hammer blows is actually sorta incredible. Like Petals in the Wind – Combining acrobatics and flexible swordplay into his own fighting style, Althein fights like, in his own words, petals in the wind. His three-dimensional movement allows him to do some ridiculously crazy things, and his spells allow him to dodge what would normally be inescapable strikes for normal people. Of course, such an unorthodox style also insures that he would be lacking in terms of straight-up offensive power, but that's alright with him. After all, he can compensate for that due to the fact that he was a Paladin, an existence that was naturally superhuman. And hey, his waifu can take care of the fatty tanks. Stigmata of the Paladin – As a possessor of Halcyon's Feather, Althein has all the benefits that come with it.
