Each way they turned - though they kept the Tower always in their sight - seemed to get them even more lost. The path rose and twisted as they moved, the landscape changing before their very eyes in a nightmarish vision. Suddenly, just when he was out of breath, Dylan came to a stop in front of a giant turtle house. “Oh, Aislin, this is just getting ridiculous.” He didn’t have much of a chance to gawk, though, as Xan grabbed him by the arm and drug him into a building. It didn’t take her long to start barricading the door - a solid plan, Dylan thought - but Lucy shattered their moment of rest. “Damn it!” Dylan shouted as he grabbed Lucy and pulled him back from the rampaging bearon. Casting his gaze around, he saw the door to the store room. “Follow me!” he yelled as he made a mad dash to the back room, throwing the door open and running past the stores of toys and stuffed animals. “Here!” He pointed at a window, before shoving it open and crawling through it. He dropped to the ground outside then turned to help the others through. “We can’t hide,” he said, looking directly at Xan. “But it’s not a terrible idea.” He nodded his head towards the tower. “We can cut through the buildings - the doorways and walls will slow the bearon down, and hopefully hide us from the dragon beast.”
