Character name: Mat Eastridge Superhero name: Actual name is Barsavis but it isn't like he has it on a jersy or something. Most people know him by his work throughout the ages... the Boogie Man.More intellectual people refer to him as Beacon because he signs his notes -B- Appearance: Anglo with dark hair. He looks pretty common place for America, wearing jeans and a t-shirt with artistic designs. Easy going with a neat cut of hair and some stubble that could fit in most environments. Is a hoodie addict in cold weather, and loves shorts and sandals in warm weather. Altogether he is not someone who makes much of an impression in appearences. Costume: A swath of vines, roots and natural growths surround a crystalline armour. Embedded inside, and mounted on his chest is a beetle (hence Bogie "beetle" man.) His spectral form is like his costume, only dark like a shadow Niche: Covert operations (stealth based telekenetic) Power Source: Dream
-Aura of Nightmares (Barsavis can take natural sleep and turn it into nightmares. He can puppet the identities in the dreams as well. however, these are only natural dreams and cannot trap or hurt those dreaming them. this can also be used as a telepathic link to willing targets when awake.) -Flight (150 mph, 40ft ceiling above surface) -Spectral Form (Has a partitioned mind that allows two full functions and perceptions, but is limited to a maximum of 400 feet away, this additional perspective appears as a shadow to children.) -Telekinesis (Can control fine articles as well as fluids. Strong by human standards, but nowhere as fantastic as most supers and machinery.) -Smell fear (Can smell and distinguish different sorts of fear.) -Ageless (When in his super-hero form he does not age.) -Immunity to sleep (Because Barsavis is the sleeping persona of Mat, he cannot be put to sleep. However, if properly deduced, most of Mat's powers can be shut off if he is woken up.) -Invisible Mind (Psionics and mind-readers cannot detect him at all. Even people who can detect emotion are clueless.) -Brain Fry: (When focused and looking into the eyes of his adversary, Barsavis can slow the synapses through a cocktail of exhaustion, dream, and fear. This makes the victim think slower than normal, and is usually imperceptible. If assaulted without restraint it can put a victim into a coma-like state. He or a psionic can reverse this but requires being physically present. Weaknesses: Barsavis has little self-confidence, and little faith in Humanity. He can find the negative in almost anyone, and he doesn't particularly like himself. His powers (particularly flight and telekinesis are affected by the amount of his will is available to him.) In addition, only his Invisible Mind, Spectral Form, and Telekinesis are active when awake. All others are shut down.
Defining moment: Barsavis does not have a pivotal moment, per-se, just as a river does not have a distinct moment when rivulets of melting snow suddenly are called a river. However, the time things changed was when he used his powers while awake. He had been told an important message in his dreams that he could use his abilities in waking life... and it was a correct hypothesis. At that moment, the hero he had always been now had the tools to perform.
Time is a funny thing, or I should the perception of time is a funny thing, especially when sleeping. Sometimes you can go down for a night and it feels like not five minutes later you are cramming your breakfast down your throat so that you aren't late for your day. Sometimes it isn't like that at all, sometimes it is much longer. Sometimes it is scattered about and not in a single and obvious line. That was what it was like with Barsavis. Really he started as Mathew Eastridge, a young and clueless toddler with a heck of an imagination. However, through many fantastic dreams he learned. Originally plagued with nightmares, he learned to control his dreams. This opened the door to travel. He went many places, as an observer, as a participant, as a master. He went places that taught him to use his dreams while awake. Things made sense in this upside-down and backwards world. The human race planned for him as though he himself had affected the past. Each event came to him as a dream so that the lines of present and past were blurred. He knew things he had never done, but would have if he was actually there (or perhaps he was.) Piece by piece his waking life came in alignment with that of his dreams until it was just like going through a box of holiday decorations and saying "oh yah, I forgot about this."

Barsavis is the embodiment of the Autumnal Equinox... Halloween. -Moral: While he is a character that walks the line, it is a world of greys. He destroys when it needs destruction, and protects where it needs protection. His motivation above all is the protection of innocence, the standard of altruism, and self control. He, however, does not allow blanket judgements (such as laws and culture) dictate his actions. -Core of Mystery: He holds a bitter sweet view. He believes the way things were supposed to be have died before it could come into being. This, however, makes room for something new, the re-try in the universe. But for this world to come the old one must die. -The Teacher of Courage: It is necessary to go into mystery to have courage. He has taken it upon himself as the self-appointed educator of children. He terrifies the spoiled into obedience, and he uses it to train others to stand up for themselves. This has earned him the reputation of being evil, but he insists that it be better to train them when there is no real danger present. But what happens when people are REALLY in danger? -Protector: He believes it is the obligation of all to protect innocent people. Very important to note, I said "innocent" people. -Playful: He loves kids and has an immature edge to him. -Love of Beauty: He has studied art and nature in-depth. He is an artist at heart, not being repelled by reptiles, insects, anatomy, and other such things that are generally shunned. Instead he has found the beauty in these things and wears them proudly. -Cautious: Barsavis chooses to never interact personally with anyone he encounters in his true form. This is not to protect himself, no it is to protect others from him. He knows how hazardous pride and power can become and what sort of temptresses they are. Because he is the protector, he refuses to allow any fame or reputation befall him. -Clever: While he seems to be rather normal when interacting with him, he almost always has gears churning in the back of his mind. He uses his normal-ness as a mask to his cunning.

The druggie made his intent known... a little too well. He winced at the creep. He knew very well what drugs charged through his system and what sort of person he was to put them there. This man had shunned good society and now was threatening others. But the others wouldn't do anything, the others would call the police, play by the books, allow their cowardice to get to them. If they were brave... if they were ALL brave the man didn't stand a chance. As it stood, the only one to stand up to him would probably be Mat. He didn't want to, he wanted things to just be calm, just be reasonable, just be good. But this was not going to happen, at least it didn't look that way. Mat positioned himself to surprise the criminal by quietly moving in behind him. Adrenaline burned through his body mostly because of fear. Yes, fear. Fear was the fuel to courage, there was no bravery without it, simply brashness. Courage wasn't the absence of fear, it was doing what must be done in spite of fear. That was a lesson he had learned long ago. His mind churned with vulnerable points of attack and what to do about the gun, if indeed it was a gun. -Just walk away, just walk away- Mat hoped. But it didn't happen, it didn't change. The gun came out, and the steel bar of the candy stand next to the cash register came down on the man's wrist as it was forcibly elevated to the ceiling by Mat's carefully calculated movements. -Oh God, protect Autumn- Was the only thing on his mind as he sprang to action.
Supporting Characters: Barsavis has a wife, Autumn. Barsavis believes he has found 3 other supers that do not know that they have similar abilities as him. He thinks that Autumn is the embodiment of the season. His Father-in-law is the embodiment of the winter solstice (Chris), and his mother-in-law is Winter. These characters all function as humans, are humans, and function in human society like any other. However, he suspects that they can control the season if they learn how.
