It actually hurt due to the fact that the chair relentless struck him while his defensive stance was not up. He felt his leg hurt, his arm, as well as his chest.

Cain decided to free himself of the relentless attack. He wondered if the chairs would stop attacking. After all, the entrance of the classroom was sort of set on fire now. If there were no "hostile musical chairs" attempting to attack him, then he would immediately depart to meet up with his allies.
