Piper got out of the car, and went to open the trunk to grab her suit case, and carry-on. Her Brother Connor was dropping Piper off on his way to taking his sons to soccer practice, so there were three loud boys in the back seats bickering about what power ranger was the best. Connor got out giving Piper a goodbye hug. “So I’ll be here on the twelfth at 5:00am to pick you up, right?” He said ruffling the top of her head as he always did. “Yep, I will see you in two weeks. Oh, and tell Wendy my spare key is under the potted plant, the one with the purple flowers, and please don’t forget to feed Momo.” She said smiling as she popped the handle to use her rolling suitcase. Her Nephew Jack, rolled the window down. “Your cat does not need to be fed, it’s the fattest thing I’ve ever seen hahaha.” He said grinning and laughing. Bradley popped his head out the window, “Bring me back a present, Aunt Piper!” He chimed in, and the boys all shouted in agreement on gifts. “All right all right. Bye boys. Conner, feed my cat, and don’t forget to pick me up in two weeks. Two weeks! I got to go or the plane is going to leave.” She said giving him a quick hug and wave goodbye to the boys. She walked quickly through the airport, checked her baggage in, and then headed to the west gate. The fight was boarding, and she walked to her seat, #55 and sat down. There was a man sitting to her left, and on her right was a young pregnant woman. Middle seats sucked, but she was planning on sleeping and catching up on her reading on this nine hour flight. The pregnant woman introduced herself as Erica Payne, and explained that she had a fear of flying, but was on her was to meet her biological mother for the first time. They talked for a while, and then the inflight movie started and she seemed excited that it was ‘steel magnolias’, which she exclaimed was her favorite. The man sitting to her left was preoccupied playing candy crash on his ipad. Piper took out her worn copy of ‘Jane Eyre’ opened to chapter five where she had left off last night. Hours or so past, she spent her time reading, and sipping the glass of sprite the stewardess had brought her. Then came the screaming, as the plane jerked about in the air, and the yellow oxygen masks and life jackets fell out of the ceiling into everyone’s laps. Her Drink tumbled to the floor and shattered. The Erica woman was screaming, and the man next to her looked to be in complete shock, as he reached for the yellow mask hanging in front of him. Then they hit the ground, fire, screaming, crying, twisted metal, and flying wreckage. The man next to her was dead, practically decapitated from a huge chunk of metal through his neck, and the pregnant woman, who had been tightly grasping Pipers hand, had stop screaming and gone limp, Piper was shaking, she was alive. She un-wedged herself from the broken flaming seat that had her pinned, and checked the Erica woman’s pulse...Nothing. Looking around her dead bodies and flames, she covered her mouth with her sleeve and she squinted through the smoke for an exit, her brain was in survival mode, as she climbed out of the wreckage. Less than a dozen or so people were still alive, some wounded others helping put out the fire and pulling out bodies. Now that she was out of immediate danger, she came to her senses, she was still in a little shock and her emotions had no time to catch up to her. She ran over to the man screaming ‘Help my wife!” how was kneeling next to a woman who was bleed out. Three years of medical school had not prepared her for anything, hell she had dropped out of medical school and switch her major, because she didn’t want the stress or responsibility of saving anyone. “Here take this apply pressure.” She said quickly kneeling beside him. “Rescue will be coming soon, just keep holding it on the wound, so she doesn't bleed out.” The man did as he was told. Little did anyone know there was no hope of rescue coming, deserted island had no rescue. Panic was all there was at this moment. She covered her mouth to hold back a sob, turning away from the man.
