So if I post my CS here, then read a bunch of IC, I can join in? What do. Here's my CS. “Form as Regal as the Night Sky”

Name: Vami Norkatch Gender: Male Alignment: Mage
Acolytes of Shade The Acolytes of Shade are a group of people adept at finding and interacting with negative energies. These kinds of energies emerge naturally into the world, and are the polar opposite of life and positive energies. Because of the nature of negative energy the Acolytes work closely with death to glean what knowledge they can about what lies beyond. They often speak and refer to the beyond after death as a Void, or Pure Dark as far as they eye can see; a place devoid of life, emotion, or existence. Sometimes Acolytes are arrested for looting at fields of battle, where they were merely trying to commune with the many fallen soldiers. In this way they are hardly seen as Mages; although mages are among them. Their nature draws in the strange and elusive; those who feel they may have a connection to death. But this was not the case with Vami; while the Elder Acolyte saw a spirit of death within Vami, Vami told him that he contained "change". This startled the Elder, and he became interested in fostering Vami's growth and magical potential. While Vami was learning with the Acolytes and reading their accumulated lore, the Elder searched for lore related to Vami's nature as a container of negative energy. Here he found writing pertaining to a staff, known as the Ruinous Catalyst. The staff had been known to amplify its weilders connection with Darkness, at the price of rapidly degrading their body. The Elder learned that the staff was in posession of The Unholy Hand covenant, and broke the silence between his covenant and theirs in order to trade secrets for the artifact. The Elder then presented the staff to Vami, and it became attached to him immediately. Vami practically never lets it go; the Catalyst which allows a deeper connection with the void, is as much a part of him as his own legs.

Vami believes that the human form is simply larval; that we are meant to transcend skin and bone and become something else. Mage or no, Vami is fascinated by this potential in other people, the potential to metamorphose. Thusly, any change in another person draws him in, and he must study it; to learn if they have come closer to achieving their true form, as he strives to. Amongst the Acolytes, he became seen as very endearing, and quite a few believed his insight about themselves.

Vami slipped away from his parents at a young age. His parents were both forfeit-mages; they had given up their powers to the Paladins long ago, in exchange for great pain from within. They knew that their was a high risk of their child being a Mage, and having to live the way they now did in order to join society. However, when Vami was born he contained no magical potential. He merely looked strange; as he grew, his eyes turned golden and horn-like protrusions took shape upon his head. While his parents sought consultation for this, no magical source was detected, and even though they repeatedly had the horns sawed off (much to the pain of their son), they would grow back, almost overnight. Vami didn't loathe his parents in any way, however; he hated his eyes and horns, and how they separated him from other children. This changed one day, however. Vami was drawn to the sight of a cocoon hanging from a leaf; he had seen them before, but this one was different. The cocoon called to him, drew every fiber of his being. He pulled it open with his hand, and witnesses to that moment remember seeing the child enveloped in a darkness like liquid night. He was wrapped in it like a web, and when it fell away he was gone. Vami never resurfaced to society or his parents, but at some point was discovered and recruited by the Acolytes of Shade, for the power they recognized within him.

Vami changes forms into a partial amount of what he believes is his truest form. He calls this his Avatar of Shadow, and while it is active he becomes inhuman, looking instead like a large six-legged lizard made up of purest dark. Vami uses a staff he received from the Elder Acolyte as a catalyst for this change, amplifying the amount of negative energy he is able to contain within himself during the change.

Void Skin; In Vami's human form, no matter how much light at any given angle is hitting him, he always look the same. Light simply doesn't affect him; somehow, he is illuminated from within, and in this way stays visible. In his Shadow form, Vami fills himself with the Heavy Dark, and it twists his form into something new. In this shape his body rejects light, and chills the air around it, to the point that the ground he walks on becomes coated with ice. Weight of Despair; Those pinned down by Vami physically while he is in Shadow form are swathed in the stench of negative energy. When Vami rains blows upon his opponent or grapples with them, they begin to be saturated in the crushing despair existing inside the Pure Dark. Defeat or death start to seem like inevitabilities, and their willpower quickly wanes along with their body temperature. It is extremely lethal to remain in close quarters to Vami's Avatar of Shadow. Speak with the Dead; Vami can enter the memories of the recently deceased. This is done by him meditating to leave his body, and finding them on their path into the afterlife. Here he experiences along with them their final thoughts and feelings, before their last hints of existence fade forever into The Black.

Vami seemingly doesn't require food, drink or sleep. He may not even need to breathe, but this remains untested. Presented with food he eats it, but it isn't necessary. Once, his fellow Acolytes realized that Vami hadn't been seen eating or drinking for an entire two weeks. When asked about it, he told them he just forgot to. The other Acolytes were astounded and many remained very curious as to Vami's living habits.
