In my imagination, I kind of think the kings in these fairy tales are paying to have their daughters trapped in a tower...I mean, they're are no people to tempt them from their role of princess, and by coincidence the prince or trusted knight happens to rescue them right when it's perfect time for them to marry. Clearly, this must all be set up. *crazy head* Another thing that bugged me about recent Disney movies is Tangled. Mother Gothel is clearly depicted as being selfish, yet Rapunzel didn't end up a raving feral child, though she had been stuck in the tower since birth...there were literally only three books in the tower, yet Rapunzel seems to be both thoughtful and even articulate enough. Maybe this implies that Mother Gothel taught the girl personally. Maybe, not so selfish? *rants a bit more* Either the typical tower-princess-dragon dynamic...or a Japanese-esque shape shifting ogre/oni from the Puss in Boots tale. *la shrugs*
