The year is 2085, and the human race has been decimated. The enemy? A disease the likes of which mankind has never before seen. It starts with confusion, that quickly turns to frustration and rage. Soon the infected have gone insane, which is when they begin a psyical transformation. The host grows freakishly stronger than they were, turning even the scrawniest host into a world class bodybuilder. Then the host begins to sprout razor sharp pitch black fur all over their bodies. This fur, along with the razor sharp fangs, and ten inch razor sharp claws, make them damnable effective killers. They also grow in size, easily ten feet taller than their hosts were. One of the final changes is the pitch of their eyes. They go from the original pitch of their host to blood red. While these eyes are more effective during the night by far than a humans, they have difficulty seeing during the day.

Very little was discovered about this disease. No one knows where it originates, or what might even begin to cure it. What is known, however, is the way it spreads. At first it spread through exchange of blood. Then, when the virus mutated, it began to effect all those over 18. It soon became the goal of the few remaining adults to educate the children to fend for themselves, and the gifted amongst the children might discover a cure.

Where we begin: The year is 2200 and the remainder of humanity has split into tribes of children and teens, trying to survive day to day. Some do so by raiding other groups for their supplies; some are nomadic, going wherever the game takes them, and some, though few, have established towns. Our group has just been inherited by Brian Overstreet, a 17 year old who is the oldest in the groups history to inherit the role, but was chosen by the former Leader because he showed remarkable ability. The group was nomadic before Brian's predecessor took over and decided to set roots in a clearing of the forest that had once been Pittsburgh. With a lot of work our characters/ their mentors managed to establish a hamlet style community and build massive wooden walls for fortification.

They've built gardens within their borders, and farms. They have established trade routes with friendly neighbor tribes. They have established a military/police force to rival many tribes of the area. The weapons of the day are again swords and bows. While The Hamlet is largely based on a trade economy, Brian and his Council are working on establishing a currency and making good headway.

Their government is formed of a Leader, who acts as King, and his council who are elected by the people. While the Leader has ultimate say over the affairs of Hamlet, it is traditional to only supersede his councils decisions if it is of vital importance.

These councilors consist of; a councilor of Agriculture, and Farming who manages the food of Hamlet; Councilor of Education, who's office has the distinction to say has helped their tribes population attain a level of literacy not known of elsewhere; Councilor of war, who manages the army of Hamlet and makes war based decisions; and the Councilor of the interior who heads the police and make sure his peoples needs are being met. The leader chooses his replacement, usually a first born son/ daughter( children are had at a much younger age in order to maintain a viable population)when the first signs of the infection are upon him. Then he, as the rest of his people, are given the choice of exile or being put down.

The future of Hamlet is being severely put to the test, however, when several threat aris at once. There is a group of raiders to the north in an old skyscraper, that are vast in number, and have shown hostile intent. In an attempt to smooth relations with these raiders, Brian sent out several emissaries, but they never reported back. Shortly after this the raiders attacked the walls of Hamlet, and quickly pulled back. Seemingly testing their strength.

As if this weren't enough, an unprecedentedly large of group of Talls has been spotted by scouts to Hamlets south, slowly making their war north. Hopefully they will bypass the town, but a fight may be inevitable.

In addition to the plight of The War councilor, the Councilor of the Interior is having trouble maintains peace from within. The doors of Hamlet have been closed to traders and settlers alike, which hasn't happened since the town was built. This led to nervousness, which quickly led to demands for answers. These answers were leaked by an unknown soldier within the army, and quickly led to unrest amongst the populace. A split in opinion as to the course of action that needs to be taken has led to two groups. One that calls for the opening of the gates, and the evacuation of the population, and the other calling this group foolish. With the dozens of battles that the Hamlet has been through in the past, no one has successfully bypassed their walls. Opening the agates would be calling the Barbarians and Talls alike in to attack and kill every man woman and child within. These two groups have nearly come to blows on multiple occasions, and the police are struggling to maintain order. With the council in an uproar on what is to be done, the future of Hamlet is far from certain.
