Ace calmly stared out into the blossoming sun, his hand rested firmly on top of his hat, which sat comfortably in the grass. He was in his usual spot, a tall hill that overlooked the entirety of the city. It was a place for contemplation, meditation, and exercise. "Today's the day, then..." he muttered into the wind, feeling the whispering air flow through his long black hair, blowing it back with the breeze. The boy smiled a determined smile, slowly resting on his feet and firmly putting on his League hat. He was an orphan, although not exactly a depressed one. His father was never home, and his mother died of cancer not even a few months after his 12th birthday. After that day, Ace created his own cabin in the forest, getting a job as a sort of 'courier/messenger boy' in the meantime. He was in love with travel, and adventuring, and becoming a Pokémon Master and Champion would help him achieve his travel and battle lust. "I better be heading out..." he said, adjusting his bag and leaping from the cliff. As always, whenever he traveled into the city, he caught onto a tree limb and somersaulted over the oak branch, the pause in momentum allowing him to land softly on top of his former apartment, which was tucked away into the hill. Leaping onto the quiet streets below, the red-eyed teen jogged through the streets, heading for the lab. On his way there, he passed by a walking female, whom he gave a passing salute. A minute later, he made it to the lab, where he leaned against the building, deciding to quietly wait for the girl he had passed before entering.
