Please put down the gun, don't you remember me? That's right, me. I am here to congratulate you, of course. Of all the projects I've undertaken, of all the metamorphosis' I have supervised, you are the most radiant. You understand the issue with radiance, don't you? It draws in too many moths. The flittering, fluttering wings of the FBI are flapping far too near your brilliance. Do not fret, my dear, take a hint from the sun; you must only be so bright that they never think to fly near you again." --- The foundation for this RP is based upon the multitude of stories concerning Hannibal Lecter. It is expected that when you show interest here that you have some kind of familiarization with the mythos. If you do not, that is also fine, as long as you let me know before you submit a character. I will try my best to provide an in-depth analysis, from my prospective, of the Chesapeake Ripper, as he is sometimes known (as necessary). Here's where things get a little complicated, I do not believe this story will follow the story of Lecter, but rather, someone who was infinitely inspired by him. This person will likely have characteristics similar to Lecter and will commit similar acts, but will be totally independent. This should be a character driven roleplay as the plot will be very open to interpretation, This serial killer will probably be controlled by myself, unless someone feels like they are up to the challenge, and are willing to work with me very closely. The PC will vary greatly (I hope). They can be anything from a psychologist working with the FBI, to a survivor of the killer. Due to the nature of the investigation, and the variability of the location of the crimes, there might not be any "local cop" characters, but rather FBI agents, or even trainees. As you might be able to tell, the plot is not set in stone, the main characters are not fleshed out, and the GM is a little nervous ;) Rules: -No Godmodding: Fairly simple, don't take control of another persons character without permission, and do not make your character know or do something that would otherwise be impossible. This rule is especially important in this RP because I will be revealing very important details about the primary villains actions and it is up to you not to meta game. -Be respectful: Whether it is me, your co-writers, or a guest coming to check out the thread, I'd like a high level of respect and decorum. -Be responsive: I don't expect everyone to post everyday, I won't be able to certainly, but I do expect a certain level of communication. If I call out for you in the OOC, and definitely if I PM you, I expect a response in a timely manner. I'm not fussy about this sort of thing but I figure it's best to set a standard for it. -Have fun: It's very important that you and everyone else involved is having a good time creating, and reacting to these interwoven stories. It's a collaborative writing experience just as it is a collaborative entertainment experience. You need to care for your co-writers entertainment just as much as you care for your own. It started when he was seventeen and never stopped, making his head a mix of %75 white hair and %25 dark brown. He’s a Caucasian male with a rather handsome facial structure. There is nothing particularly standout about his appearance which only aids his extracurricular activities. He wears finely crafted clothes from London and Italy. The suits are sometimes dull, solid colors, but can range to pasley or checkered patterns, and wild colors. Personality Rundown: Dennis appears to be very sane, and rational. He presents a finely crafted person-suit which is serious and wise yet caring and affable. In truth Dennis is a monster of the highest order. He enjoys manipulating those around him to an almost pathological extent, luckily for him he has recognized it and keeps it under control during his interactions with those in the psychological and law enforcement fields; wouldn’t want them getting a whiff. His deep well of knowledge causes him to speak referentially, often times separating himself from the person he is communicating with. It was once a defensive mechanism that he transformed into a personality trait. Dennis is very self-conscious, constantly filtering his deviant thoughts and double-checking his subconscious signals. Due to his own manipulative tendencies, and his illicit actions, Dennis is very paranoid. This makes it easier for him to hide his extracurricular activities from his friends and coworkers. There are no true designations for Dennis’ psychological condition. When Dennis is alone or speaking to another psychopath he allows himself to speak freely, he is morbid and poetic. His desire to control and manipulate his environment, and those in it, is what creates the delusion that by killing, mutilating, and eating his victims he is transforming them, and subsequently himself, into something divine. Bio: Dennis was born to a veterinarian and disenchanted starlet in Rochester, New York. His mother, Cynthia Jennings committed suicide on his twelfth birthday. Dennis was raised caring for horses, pigs, other livestock, and his Father’s small community of chimps (this is where some of his surgical skills developed at first). The pair of boys were so enveloped in each other and the animals that they completely ignored poor Cynthia for most of their life together. She killed herself due to depression caused by a terrible childhood, a failed career, and an uncaring husband and son. They hardly noticed when she was gone, so strong was their self-interest. At eighteen, Dennis’ father Robert, died of Pneumonia while he was away visiting colleges. Dennis felt a heartwrenching depression when he got home to find his fathers corpse lying in his bed. Dennis felt that that was an unworthy ending for his father, so he burned the house down, the beginning of ritualistic transformation. Dennis took two years to travel Europe after that, his father and mother had left him a substantial endowment to enjoy in their absence. While in Europe he heard about the exploits of Hannibal Lector. He studied the murderer intently. He felt like he connected with Hannibal, he saw his radiance. He noticed Hannibal’s interest reflected in his own actions with his father, transformation. The scant descriptions of Lectors pathology made perfect sense to Dennis, he found solace in the insanity. At 20 Dennis went to Hunter College for his bachelors and then finished his PhD at Columbia, that is when his extracurricular activities first began, in a back alley around 14th St. After several years as a student professor Dennis opened his private practice in Brooklyn, where it flourished. Dennis began transforming his most radiant patients into something else, something transcendent. He helped the FBI for the first time on a case a year and a half ago, he’s decided it is better to keep them close and under his watchful eye.
