[hider=BSGSpoiler]When they got the NewEarth they were going to keep the Tech and the cities and humans had already (Somehow) to their surprise evolved on the planet. Lee Adama currently the president with his dad Admiral Adama decided that they wouldn't do what the Twelve Colonies did and give themselves a head start to start the cycle of destruction again. So they split up supplies and separated the populace throughout the globe. Then they flew the ships into the sun on Autopilot to get rid of them.

The last of the Cylon Centurions (As most were destroyed in the cylon civil war and the destruction of the resurrection hub) were given their freedom from the Rebel Cylons and the Final Five and it was seen as a way good enough to end the cycle of destruction, to let them find their own way in complete freedom. The evil cylons the ones, threes and fives were all aboard the colony upon its destruction.
