I edited it out of habit- double posts really rub me the wrong way for some reason. It also felt a bit too short to be a single post, so tacking it on felt a bit more natural. I really couldn't think of Fujiwara doing much else than grinding, simply because of how I viewed his character in my head. That aside, I think you could probably mesh both of the systems- Sometimes, people run multiples of a weapon, and since in my headcanon the quality of a crafted/dropped weapon could be varied. You could probably use the first system for base stats and the second for modifiers, which would be rolled by one of you GMs/co-GMs and returned to the group. Rarity could also play a part in the whole economy side of the game (which was shown to be relatively important, seeing as how characters like Agil made their living off of it), and higher rarity/quality items could potentially go for more. It just looks a bit more natural to mesh the two, but that's probably just me.
