She was born to two loving parents and had friends in a young Mary Jane Watson. This however was not to be as it was then discovered by her mother that something terrible had happened and her husband, Walter Hardy had to leave the household and his daughter for the safety of his family. This of course was due to Walter Hardy’s compulsive habit and career—he was a professional thief named The Black Cat. Wanted internationally, it came to a point when Walter was hired on a job by the Kingpin Syndicate though he had not found out that until the job was nearly finished—upon finding out about what he had stolen (an experimental super soldier process developed by Dr. Calypso Ezili at OsCorp R&D) was to be shelled off to the most dangerous and evil organization in the United States. Walter refused to be a servant to the Syndicate and while he was a thief he had deep sense of morals; he could not let that experimental serum fall into the wrong hands. However, he knew his handler would turn him over once the job remained unfinished and to fix this he had to disappear. Extremely heartbroken, Walter said his goodbyes to his wife and daughter as he disappeared. This had a horrible effect on Felicia causing her into bad habits led by curiosity and rebellion in her later childhood. Her mother, Lydia, would not have Felicia discovering what Walter was and why he left which started a rocky relationship between the two. Lydia wanted to move on and forget, Felicia refused to let it go. Felicia’s curiosity never died and by the age of fifteen attempted to put together clues her mother and father indirectly left for her to pick up on—how they didn’t talk about what her father did, and how her mother burnt journals the night after her father’s leaving. Things didn’t add up and to top it all off her father left her with one comment on that night: “Be wary of your curiosity.” Origin By 2012, Felicia’s thoughts were still festering despite being able to relax through her schoolwork and through her friendship with Mary Jane Watson. However, things at home weren’t right – her mother and her kept clashing, this of course led to Felicia wanting to escape and she began sneaking out of her house at night to clear her head. This became difficult when her mother began dating a widowed police detective by the name of Harrison Thompson— though she did find some friendship with the officer’s daughter, Jesse. That was when everything crumbled. Somehow, the secret her father was hiding exploded and Felicia found herself kidnapped by a man named “Rose” who worked for the Kingpin Syndicate. This kidnapping was done to kite Felicia’s father out of hiding and everything she knew about her father was thrown out of the window. Failing a rescue attempt, Walter eventually and begrudgingly handed over the product he had stolen all those years ago but the Kingpin ordered something as Walter began to notice that the place they were holding Felicia was a lab. Under the guise of assuming Walter to emotionally hand over a fake serum they decided to test it on Walter’s own daughter. The next moments for Felicia surged with pain and suffering as her body went through a process that tried to dominate her but with just being reunited with her father she refused to lose herself and die. This indomitable will (or perhaps probability manipulation) saved her life. The Kingpin impressed would continue to hold Walter against his will to use to threaten and order Felicia to do as he asked and work for the Syndicate. Felicia began field tests and then training with Tony Masters not too long after. They groomed her as their own personal “acquisition specialist” – Felicia Hardy became the second Black Cat. This training did however make her more distant with her friend Mary Jane in the summer of the next year. Felicia now has to contend with the new school year, her friendship with Mary Jane Watson & Jesse Thompson, and stealing for the Kingpin Syndicate or be responsible for the death of her father. | Powers and Abilities | Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Felicia has been modified due to a “super soldier serum” that has given her strength, speed, durability, agility, reflexes, and senses to a high level that is either peak human or near-superhuman. These come with a cost of altering Felicia’s brain although it seems her morality is still in-tact. Eidetic Memory: Felicia was born with eidetic memory, making her likely a mutant. She remembers things quicker and absorbs information visually. This could be said why her training under Tony Masters took little time. Expert Thief: Felicia is a skilled thief skilled in stealth, picking locks, escapology, evading alarms, and cracking safes. Skilled Martial Artist: Felicia has been trained in martial forms by Tony Masters (Taskmaster) during her time working in the Kingpin Syndicate. Such training has led her to combat reflexes, superior technique, and so forth. Marksmanship: Felicia was interned basic-to-intermediate firearms training by Tony Masters. Probability Manipulation: Felicia has the ability to manipulate her own personal “probability field” to modify chance to play in her favor; it is inherently unknown to her as it resides in her father’s necklace that was given to her on the night he disappeared. It is likely it is the reason she survived the genetic modification process. | Sample Post | “So, do you steal from giant corporations often or is this a new thing?” My eyes narrow from the shadows of my mask as I look into New York’s currently favorite rookie superhero and I’m caught in his web—literally. I’m not sure what it is about this gross junk, but it’s confining me like some sort of super-glue and I’m totally not a fan. Factoring in my father’s life hangs in the balance with everything I do, I can’t exactly fail The Kingpin as that would just be bad news. All I know is I want to get out of this spider-web. “You know you’re the first one to—” “Oh shut up, web-head.” I retort, half-annoyed… okay fully annoyed, but it’s not like there is much of a difference. It’s here that I feel something shift—a piece of the web-thing is giving way. Well either I’m extremely lucky or this stuff isn’t that good and I can’t exactly say luck has been my strong suit between being one of my best friends being outed as a mutant, kidnapped, forced into an experiment, and made into a crime syndicates personal she-thief. Yeah, life has been swell… and that’s only the last year of my life at that. Oh, lucky me. Either way, I take advantage of the loose web-stuff and dive straight down into the dark streets below as I hold my hands out as I activate a grappling hook device that was designed personally for me. At least with being a lackey you get all of the toys of the trade, right? Right. Though I do doubt that will keep Spiderman off my ass, so I have to work quick. Maybe he’s just as dumbfounded as I am that I got loose from his web. “Hey Cat! Wait up!” Yep, he’s too persistent and not that dumbfounded… I can’t exactly lead him back to my safehouse so I need to lose him—maybe I’m faster or he doesn’t have a whole lot of that webbing. Either way, tonight is not going to be fun. Not to mention the AP History test I have tomorrow! Augh! Go away spider-freak! --- | Player Name | Gowi | Character You Wish To Play | Susan Storm / Invisible Woman | Moral Alignment | Hero | Affiliation | Empire State University Future Foundation | Character Origin & Backstory | Early Life Susan is the daughter of Dr. Franklin Storm, a quantum physicist who was featured on TIME Magazine in 1971. Susan’s father’s belief was limitless energy could be theoretically obtained using a method he named “Quantum Energy”. Through this he believed society would reach new heights; however his time into research and resources was put to a halt when Susan and Johnathan Storm were born to Franklin’s wife and reality forced Franklin to re-evaluate his priorities. He took time from his project to teach Physics at Empire State University in New York City as the two children became his whole world. Growing up, Susan found her father’s ramblings and theories on quantum energy the equivalent of fairytales; the young girl was not groomed into quantum physics or at least not deliberately. By the age of nine, Susan’s inherent genius came out as her father noticed an open notebook of Sue’s that detailed modifications to his quantum energy equation which proved to be correct amendments at that. Susan’s life from thereon shifted uphill and before she or her father knew it she had cut through high school by thirteen and two universities by twenty. A “mirror” of her father, Sue became known for her grasp on quantum physics and soon received a recommendation for employment at a new scientific organization devoted to progress called The Future Foundation headed by one Reed Richards. Taking the recommendation from there she began working with the likes of Dr. James Power. Susan began work almost immediately on a theoretical aerospace engine drive that ran through quantum energy, aerospace engineer and ex-NASA member Benjamin Grimm was assigned to help her with the physical tasks of the project and after some time it was completed though Susan herself believed it still needed much time. Through some force of pressure to maintain funding from one of their investors they however prepared for installment into a spacecraft—but they needed a pilot: Susan recommended her brother Johnny Storm and he was brought in for the test flight… a flight the four would never forget. Origins Susan Storm, Benjamin Grimm, Johnny Storm, and Reed Richards were struck by a malfunction in the drive that neither Susan, Reed, or Benjamin could detect as they hit a “storm-like anomaly” in space. The spacecraft took massive damage but due to Johnny Storm the four did not simply perish in space—they would crash in the Atlantic Ocean before falling unconscious themselves. The recovery of the four members of the Foundation was a loss for the company, but it oddly served as a big event for the national media as the scientists lay in a coma for a few days at a private hospital in Upstate New York. Throughout the next few months they found themselves changing in radical ways as the apparent radiation (or the negative quantum energy itself) had affected them—Sue vanished in thin air, Reed found his entire body becoming the consistency of rubber, Johnny found himself ablaze, and Ben discovered his muscles rapidly growing and hardening. Thus the Fantastic members of the Future Foundation were born – Susan Storm’s “year one” involved not much further outside of initial tests and studies that Reed attempted to work against the clock to halt or minimize their radiation-brought mutation. Radiation experts like Dr. Elizabeth Ross were brought in but it was generally to no-avail. However, as they fought to come to grips with their new powers a devastating chemical spill occurs and a scientist in the center of the event mutates into a giant monster and begins to attack local neighborhoods nearby to the Future Foundations base of operations (which the four including Susan had returned to after awakening from their coma). Reed deduces they are likely the only response team capable for immediate resolve and begrudgingly the Four approach and surprisingly contain the threat before it does massive damage. Reed brings a sample of the creature back to his lab for study. With funding for their science experiments and public word of the four as “superheroes” they are starting to get some attention… | Powers and Abilities | Genius Intelligence: Susan Storm wields a 11th level intelligence, and while outclassed by individuals such as Tony Stark and Reed Richards she wields a genius intellect which is evident with her completion of university level education by the age of twenty. This applies to her field(s) generally, of course. Invisibility: The Invisible Woman has the mental ability to manipulate ambient cosmic energy for a variety of effects, including the rendering of herself and other objects invisible, and the construction of solid, invisible force fields. In an as yet unknown manner, cosmic energy interacts with the cells of her entire body in such a way as to produce a new form of energy with unusual properties. By a simple act of concentration, she can cause all wavelengths of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light to bend around her without distortion; she also somehow directs enough undistorted light to her eyes to retain her full range of vision while invisible. Psionic Force Fields: While the cells of the Invisible Woman's body produce a certain energy manifestation, the cells of her brain produce a different, more potent manifestation. Through concentration, she is able to project a field of psionic force which she can manipulate into a number of relatively simple forms: rectangular planes, cylinders, globes, domes, cones, etc. The complexity of the shape is limited by her ability to imagine (mentally visualize) a particular form and keep it in sharp mental focus: not even she is able to see the forms she creates. The size of a given psionic force projection is also limited by her ability to imagine. | Sample Post | “Are you kidding?” Sue’s eyes met her brother’s as she moved like a bat out of hell as the sight of a giant green monster set the Fantastic Four initiative members into well.. a panic, outside of Reed of course who decided this was the most fascinating things ever because not only did this monster look familiar it also looked like— “No! I’m pretty sure we’re fighting a dragon!!” Johnny Storm’s voice was right. The Fantastic Four were fighting a dragon and not just any old dragon but one who was as ancient as the earth himself and was fairly angry of what he had awoken to—that or he was sent here as a distraction by the Mandarin, but it was anybody’s guess at that point. Susan Storm was still relatively new at this whole “hero thing” and Reed had been so adamant that it would be the catalyst of them getting their funding back on the ground, she didn’t exactly understand it but it was way out of left field for her. “Fool! I will devour you until your remains exist as ashes!” The dragon roared which honestly made Sue fumble again since well dragons shouldn’t talk right? “That will be awful hard buddy considering I’m the human torch!” Her brother yelled, mocking the dragon as Sue began to focus her body to create several variations of psionic energy to blast at the dragon. But she wasn’t sure if they could do this all by themselves—perhaps they needed the Avengers or something? Really, it was a giant dragon—not that they hadn’t taken on giant monsters before… but this thing was a little bit more sentient than a giant acidic monster and had a lot more power at that. At this point she just hoped Reed had a plan… --- | Player Name | Gowi | Character You Wish To Play | Jacques “Jac” Duquesne, III / Swordsman | Moral Alignment | WTL | Affiliation | Duquesne Steel Industry United States Military (former) | Character Origin & Backstory | The third to bear the name of Jacques Duquesne out of a family of four generations rooted in America, Jacques grew up as a child in the shadow of the Duquesne Steel Industry that had dated back to the first Duquesne’s ambitions as a French entrepreneur who looked to America as the great frontier of opportunity and wealth. However, at a young age Jacques found more interest in the stories his grandfather would express about his adventures during the Second World War and how he followed the legendary Captain America into battles against the insufferable Third Reich. His grandfather had operated under the name of “Swordsman” due to the Duquesne’s belief in culture, self-control, and art—the art of the swordplay. Between the age of seven and seventeen Jacques would train with his grandfather while his father cared more in the interest of the company’s wealth and stability; he was practically raised by his mother and grandfather—as was his sister. When Jacques was eighteen instead of attending college to prepare for the ownership of the company he instead enlisted in the military and began a long journey overseas doing what he believed was expected of him and would honor his grandfather. It wasn’t until he came home in his mid-twenties to discover his grandfather on his deathbed where he gifted him an heirloom of the family—a strangely crafted blade out of a metal Jacques had never heard of. His grandfather recounted the story of the first Jacques stumbling upon small amounts of this rare metal and putting it in a safe seeing it as too grand to be left to financial gain. As his grandfather died he understood family, tradition, and honor were important. Jacques returned to the military devastated and received a discharge due to his psychological depression—and he remained unemployed for a time, only practicing swordsmanship to ease his loss. Eventually he found himself working as a security consultant for his father. That is until the Red Skull attacked a pro-mutant rally that his sister had been attending and killed her. Grabbing his sword and using his trust fund to finance a small arsenal of weapons he vowed to himself: he would avenge his sister. | Powers and Abilities | Peak Human Physiology: Jacques has trained extensively to become one of the primer soldiers of his day and his discipline has never changed. This amounts to strength, perception, agility, and vitality. Swordsmanship: Jacques is a talented if not masterful swordsman and has one of the most lethal swords in existence due to the unknown metal that is as sharp as it is durable. (Not sure if this admantium or carbonadium but if requested I can admit it to being neither if people have objections). Martial Arts: As trained through his swordplay and through his time in the military, Jacques is a very competent hand-to-hand combatant. | Sample Post | “If you told me two years ago that the threat of a fourth reich would be upon us, I would have laughed.” “But today, I am not laughing.” Jacques Duquesne crossed his arms as he looked down at the visage of a bleeding neo-nazi he had tracked down by the name of Herman Doltz, who may or may not have been part of this revisionist movement by this Red Skull. One thing was sure is the southern supremacist was scared and the sight of a man who was currently using a sword to interrogate him was something else entirely—a sword that was sharper than the most precise razor at that, but it wasn’t like Herman Doltz knew what this blade was other than it had been used to kill three of his ‘brothers’ in this small car garage in Hell’s Kitchen. “What do you want, man?!” “What I want is to see the Red Skull.” His voice was firm and almost venomous as he slammed his sword down into the floor—an inch away from Herman’s foot. “Shit! I don’t know the Red Skulls number!” Jacques frowned. “That is… too bad, but I suppose that is how life is. As my grandfather would say… c’est la vie.” The swordsman turned as he twirled his sword as he removed it from the concrete floor—and ran it across Herman’s neck. “..but your life is done.”
