In answer to your question about where it's going, there will be some of the standard canon events (Initiation in the Forest, White Fang & Roman Torchwick, Vytal Festival etc.), some Grimm fights, lessons, and some player-driven plot. Basically, if you want to do something, there's probably room for it.
