He has little time for nobodies and a lot for those in power. He is fair and generous towards the numerous spies and informants he has working throughout the city but is less fair and generous towards those in power. He'll milk the cash cow dry if possible, information costs a price, and the price soars when you get more famous. Are they a daredevil or cautious? Varys is mostly always cautious. He thinks decisions through before he goes through with them about 90% of the time. The only times he doesnt are the times where power is the topic. He'd risk half of his investments for something that would elevate him in wealth and power. Do they act the same alone as when with someone? It really depends on who he is talking to. If he's talking to a rival like say, Petyr Baelish then he may act a bit more condescending and sarcastic than he would to someone who worked for him and whatnot. He can feel great sympathy for those in extremely bad positions, he would never reveal the secrets of someone forced into a depressive world for little to nothing. Alone he acts the same as he would with an aquintance, quick and thoughtful. Drinks: Wine usually. How much: On occasion, he prefers to keep his wits about him at all times. Greatest Strength: His great knowledge of the strip and it's residents, along with his spy network and business. Greatest Weakness: He doesn't really have any power over anyone other than knowing a few of their secrets. Family: None Short History: Varys' life was not a happy one. His parents were very firm believers in Judaism and as such, had Varys circumcised soon after his birth. His life was good for the first few weeks, but that was until his parents went through financial troubles. It got to the point where they could hardly feed themselves and Varys at the same time, they decided it would be better for Varys if he was put in an orphanage. As he grew he was bullied relentlessly. His effeminate ways were what brought the bullying on to him. He persevered through it though and through a brief period of depression in his teen years. He often escaped the orphanage at night and explored the wondrous city of Las Vegas. He learned practically all the secret alleys and passageways in just about every building. He began to thieve at night in order to get money to purchase various books and whatnot that he wanted, but couldn't get with the small amount of money the orphanage actually gave the children. As he grew into his young adult years he began to think of jobs he could aspire to be. Most were either too great to be achieved or were too stupid to try. He eventually got a job at the biggest newspaper company operating within Las Vegas. Anyone who was anyone read the paper and Varys was just a small part of it. He worked his way up through the corporation, eventually catching the eye of the CEO and impressing him with his innate ability to learn secrets. He began to grow to be good friends with the CEO and rapidly excelled throughout the business from there on. It was at the point that Varys had become the editor in chief that he decided to set up a spy network. It started with him buying out the old orphanage he used to live at and renovating it. He began 'no bullying' schemes and gave the orphans a better life than they could have imagined with the old owners. He 'employed' the orphans as his 'little birds'. They would go out and learn practically everyone in Vegas' secrets and report back to Varys in exchange for the good living conditions they received. It was only a year later when Varys was named CEO of the newspaper. The CEO had recently died of old age and named Varys as his successor because of their good friendship and trust between each other. The first thing Varys did was rename the company to 'The Nevada Web' because of his widely known nickname of 'the Spider'. He turned the newspaper in a different direction, and expanded onto the internet along with other places in and around Nevada. He began earning a lot more than he previously had and begun to employ more 'little birds'. These were grown men and women within certain corporations and whatnot who would report to him. It was around this time he met, Petyr Baelish. He had a spy network that rivaled Varys' but smaller. They soon became friendly rivals and often exchange small tidbits of information between each other. Other: [/centre]
